Onwards to 400p now.
Hi spotted, I'm going to just continue riding this uptrend. The FTSE looks good so I can see a steady rise at cty too. Prob look again at 400p. Cheers, JP
Runner look where we are now here, just brilliant! I usually sell half my cty shares after June divi and re buy in August but not sure what to do this year , it usually helps me gain even more shares but not sure what to do this year , any ideas? atb
Yes good to see Petra finally go north where she belong.I too am happy here and this has been a solid rock for me, take care my friend.
Good RNS at Petra today - back to 158p-ish. They are firmly on track top meet FY14 targets - the word firmly suggests there is upside to be expected. Another massive stone wouldn't go a miss to add to H2 numbers. Still very happy here at CTY.
Greetings runner! Yes Gem is doing well , wish Petra would fly , silly price now, may top up t that price.Have a great weekend!
Gemfields doing well for you now my friend? Up over 40p
Depends on when you bought Petra,I bought it a year and a half ago when it was first tipped and on a spike , it then went slowly down the following year so was only a 15 percent rise for meI hope it does not follow the same pattern again..On the other hand GEM is the real winner with more room for growth, But I am prob wrong as usual,CTY is also one of my best shares and great news to see it buy some JRS( J P Morgan Russian Investment trust) which I also bought on the dip ,ATB
To be fair, over 12 months both Petra and Gemfields are up about 80%.i'm not sure which of the two has the legs to go another 50% in the next 12 months. My money, currently, is on PDL.
I agree , CTY and EDIN have never let me down !now when is GEM going to rocket like Petra! atb
Being in here big time is the best investment I have ever made. End of,
Director BUY - decent 10K STG punt today, RNS.
Someone just bought 27K STG worth. Nice one, wish I could do that!
Big top up for me today, about 3K shares. Hold for the long term.
Aittch, I suspect you have been using the dividends to average down in ZZZ. You may get a few more opportunities to accumulate ZZZ below 20p in the coming months, before your reward will come (as it will I think).
CTY has served me extremely well over the last 12 months with great capital appreciation and yield. Pleased to be here. Drip feeding regularly. I have finally grown up and am migrating from AIM "gambling" to propsr investing! GLA
but then I suppose steady growth and a regular income leaves nothing to argue about! IMHO, one to top up on regular basis and leave on back burner, reinvesting the dividends. DYOR and GLA
Two directors of emerging markets-focused investment group City of London disposed of beneficial interests they have in the company on Wednesday, just two days after the firm’s full-year results revealed a large decline in funds under management (FuM). Non-executive director David Cardale and Finance Director Doug Allison sold a total of 153,125 shares in the company in order to fund personal property projects, City of London said. Cardale disposed 53,125 for 325p a piece generating £172,656, leaving his resultant holding at 53,125, equal to 0.2% of the issued share capital.
Investment Trust Picks for Income-Seekers Morningstar's Szymon Idzikowski explains why income-seekers should consider investment trusts and highlights a few of his favourites Extract: COOK: So for an investor who is looking to ramp up the income portion of their portfolio, are there any investment trusts that jump to mind that could be suitable for them? IDZIKOWSKI: We actually even rated a couple of income funds. So, one of them is, for example, City of London Investment Trust (CTY). It has been rated Gold. There is a number of things we like about this fund. Its fund manager is Job Curtis, very experienced fund manager, over two decades of experience. He has been actually at the helm of this fund also for 20 years. That's a tenure that is rare to see actually, and what it means is that this tenure and the longevity of the tenure adds a lot of stability to the way he runs the funds. So when you look on the process there have not been that many changes in the process. He was following the same consistent process over the time…and it paid back. I mean, the fund has generated progressive dividends for over 45 years. COOK: That's some record. IDZIKOWSKI: This is actually a record that has yet to be matched by any other funds. COOK: So that's a great tip for investors. Here is the link to the video and transcript: http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/news/articles/105875/Investment-Trust-Picks-for-Income-Seekers.aspx P.S. See Saturdays "your money" section in the Daily Telegraph regarding investment trusts.
been investing monthly since 1992,so obviously quite happy with performance.Dividends have increased yearly since launch.Retire next year and will hopefully use this as an equity income fund to top up other poor pensions that i have.Drip feeding investment seems to have paid off so far. I use this as my equity ISA
Bought a few thousand of these recently as there is a reliable quarterly dividend, good fund manager and a nice mix of blue-chip ftse companies with a global perspective......surprised nobody else has posted here so far......well have a look at CTY if you come across this post... GLA
