I haven't said a prayer for a long time, but I've just said one for you. Good luck, I think it will come good.
Thank you so much for the responses!!
I felt a bit (a lot) queasy today as well, but still (blindly) hopeful.
*basic question alert*
Was having a nosy around on here and noticed all the share trades you can see on the menu above. What do the transactions after closing mean? Is it always all the selling transactions before closing time and then after hours it's all the buys? Who is registering them?
If you can't be bothered w super basic questions like this, please feel free to refer me to a resource rather than explain it yourself.
Thanks again for the responses. Much appreciated!!
Good luck everyone!!
I take my hat off to you, hstrclybadnvstr. You've shown great courage to continue averaging down and accumulate a position of that size. I really hope this works out for you.
I've also got a large position - around £60K @ 56 p average, so I'm currently sitting on a large paper loss. I'm still confident that this stock will recover though, so will be sticking with it. I'm looking forward to the interim results coming out and more importantly, the US reopening and arrival of Tenet later this month.
I’ve pretty much written that money off until Q2 next year, anything before that’s a bonus.
Cine isn’t the only stock that’s took a dive, if you trend a bunch of retail / hospitality stocks you’ll see a similar pattern. It’s the recovery that seems to be taking longer than others. Second largest cinema chain in the world going bust would be big headlines wouldn’t it ? Not going to happen. Plenty of films backed up and plenty scheduled for 2021.
It’s a VV shape recovery and we are at the bottom of the second V
Good luck whatever your positions
Good luck JB. If it doesnt work out, you are young and can always earn more money.
At 26 thats quite a sizeable investment and I Pray that it comes good for you.
I’m in for £21k at an average of 91p... I’m 26 and earnt every penny
Must admit I was aiming for a quick return then it all went south.
Lesson learnt. Not losing any sleep over it, it’ll come good just be patient.
I’m invested in Cineworld for the long term.
I have faith in global cinema recovering as well as all industries that have been impacted during the pandemic.
Industries will need to adapt, Cineworld and cinemas are doing just that.
They have implemented controls and procedures to work around the current considerations such as frequent cleaning, social distance and booking facilities. I ride the underground each day into the City of London. I have visited Cineworld on two occasions since it has open and my third visit is tomorrow, with friends.
I am here for the long haul.
Good luck, everyone and may your investments return a handsome reward for your patience.
Cineworld have a debt maturity of 2023.
Global recovery will be with us well before this time at the worst case.
Cineworld will come good.
If this recovers to 165p long term and continues to pay out a dividend, you could be sitting on a nice yearly passive return.
Use the calculator to work out what your dividend is per quarter, key in the number of shares you own. Granted dividends is suspended now, once the recovery is established and global economies are back and running, they will resume the dividend.
Calculator here: https://www.dividendmax.com/united-kingdom/london-stock-exchange/travel-and-leisure/cineworld/dividends
We'll have to wait till July 2021 to find out I guess...though slightly longer coz that was assuming cinemas closed till then.
30% or 7% depending what article u read. Wouldnt say that's a good chance.
May never reach 47p, as theres a good chance cineworld will go bankrupt
Won't be 47p until at least 2022
@ hstrclybadnvstr
You're sitting on a paper loss but if you have confidence that global cinema is here to stay, then stay put. It is the reason you invested to begin with.
Don't crystallise a paper loss to an actual loss.
You don't need the funds yet and take comfort that prior to Covid-19, there were investors with a sizeable take at much higher averages i.e. 200p, 165p, 100p etc.
There was no news today to warrant the drop, other than short positions by capital funds.
Schools in the Uk are re-opening, next month.
Children will be sitting elbow to elbow, sharing teaching materials, not wearing any masks or adhering to any social distance in an environment that has frequent touch points. Ask yourself, if the dynamics of a classroom remain, if passengers can fly long distance, if you can ride the metro and return to your office/desk environment, you can certainly sit, in static, staggered seating for 90mins and watch a movie.
Stay put and change your strategy to long term if you need to.
You will get your money back and some when Cineworld re-open their US theatres and we have some positive news on the vaccine, which isn't just going to recover this company/share, but your entire portfolio.
I also advise on diversifying your portfolio going forward but what is done is done.
We should see H1 results, tomorrow and Cineworld can re-affirm investors that their liquidity position is strong to see them through this year and into the next.
Good luck and continue to be patient.
Let's just take a moment to imagine triple bagging on that little beaut
I wonder which of you desperate joe's had to set up a fake account to save your ailing investment lol. So sad.
This also gives me some comfort that being down 60% on a mere £2k is nothing like this, however, stick to your guns and it will pay off, hopefully massively.
GL
So, if it makes you feel any better -
I've been wanting to start trading for a few years and have been doing pretty well. Around the end of June I decided CINE would recover in the same way hospitality did so I chucked some money at it.
And then some more.
And then more again.
Then reopening was delayed and it's been a battle of wills since. My average goes down, my anxiety goes up, but ultimately, I stand by my original decision. Cineworld will pull into profitsville pretty fast once it gets going.
In the meantime, I promise not to mention the smell of **** pants if you dont either xD
Eeek. You have made me feel better and given me the confidence to hold! I have all my personal savings in cine at the min. I wanted to use the joint account savings but the Mrs said no way haha (phew).
My amounts are much lower than yours, and I average higher (66p) but I feel as though we are in the same boat some how haha.
Good luck mate, hold off for a year and that 113k will be worth triple! (Hopefully).
113k at 47p? Your're gonna be rich! (imo)
Erm...good luck
Short term - I'm here for you bro ;)
Long term - you can be there for me, that's some crazy profit inbound :P
If you need advice when exchanging let me know I did Conveyancing for 6 years bud and best of luck in your move
Lol bless you did make me laugh Im sure it will pay off and gratz on averaging down wise move
Hi everyone,
I’ve been reading your comments here and have found the links to news that affects the share price very useful. Thanks for those!
In case you fancy a laugh:
I am in between houses and rather unwisely used the proceeds from my previous flat to buy quite heavily at 60p (about £10k) then kept averaging down, until I’ve now ended up with a completely ridiculous (for my level of assets) £113k in shares at an average price of 47p (so about £85k now).
If anyone is feeling silly about their Cineworld investment please draw comfort from this.
If it stays low like this I will have to call the whole purchase off.
I know this is incredibly, incredibly stupid.
Will post again when it’s time for me to exchange contracts (sometime September / October).
Good luck everyone!
Yours,
An historically bad investor
