Daisy makes yet another acquisition Date: Monday 04 Apr 2011 LONDON (ShareCast) - Telecom and hosting services provider Daisy Group has acquired two data and managed service providers from Niu Solutions for £15.4m cash, its second acquisition in less than a week. Daisy will purchase the trading assets of Telinet and certain trading assets of Ipotimi. Both companies supply data solutions, telephone systems, communications and connectivity solutions to mid-market customers. “This deal will further strengthen Daisy's position as a leading provider of unified communications to the mid-market. The acquired businesses are well-established and recognised as key competitors in the data solutions and managed services market,” said chief executive officer Matthew Riley. The consideration will be made up of a £12.4m cash payment on completion and £3m deferred for up to two years. On Thursday, Daisy acquired the Vodafone mobile service business of Outsourcery for £12m.
Commenting, Ken Smith, Clarity's CEO, said: "Despite enhancements to our operational capability and a growing pipeline, the poor market conditions and lengthening sales cycles have led to us falling short of our revenue target for the year to 31 March 2011. The Board does not expect any change in market conditions in the short term, but given the quality of the sales pipeline and the opportunities for cost reduction, the Directors remain optimistic about prospects for the new financial year. It is important to recognise that none of our key contract opportunities has been lost, rather decisions have been deferred into the next financial year."
The challenging market conditions and the associated lengthening of sales order cycles seen in the first half of the financial year have continued to impact Clarity Commerce Solutions (CCS) in the second half of the year, the supplier of software solutions for the hospitality, retail, leisure and entertainment sectors announced. In light of this, the group said revenue for the full-year will be "significantly below market forecasts" which, it added, will have an "impact on the group's profit or loss position". Clarity shares fell 4.5p to 22p.
Clarity Commerce Solutions plc ('Clarity'', the 'Company' or the 'Group') Contract Win Clarity, a leading supplier of software solutions for the hospitality, retail, leisure and entertainment sectors, is pleased to announce details of a key contract with Merlin Entertainments Group Ltd, the world's second largest amusement park operator. Concluding an extensive selection process, Clarity has been appointed by Merlin Entertainments Group Ltd ("Merlin") as their chosen technology supplier for their global operations which include Madame Tussauds, Chessington World of Adventures, London Eye, HeidePark, Alton Towers Resort and LEGOLAND. This is a key contract for Clarity, which cements the Group's position as the leading supplier of point of sale and related solutions for the amusement park sector. Under the contract which covers both hospitality and retail locations, the Group will provide its ClarityLive suite of point of sale, inventory, management reporting and related solutions and services over a phased roll out programme, planned to extend over four years. The multi-million pound contract is subject to the successful roll out of Merlin's Gardaland theme park in Italy which, it is expected, will go live in April 2010. Commenting on the contract win, Ken Smith, Clarity's CEO said "Clarity's mission is to work in partnership with its customers in order to deliver products and services which help them to enhance their own customers' buying experience. This contract win demonstrates how this approach can succeed in difficult economic times and in the face of stiff competition. I am looking forward to working with the Merlin team to deliver a successful solution to this prestigious customer." Chris Dare, Group IT Director of Merlin said "We are delighted to be creating this new partnership with Clarity to provide us with our PoS and inventory management systems across the Merlin Entertainments Group's estate. Clarity have impressed us with their knowledge of retail trading in the unique environment of the visitor attractions market coupled with their understanding of the need to work alongside our teams in creating flexible, reliable and robust system solutions. We look forward to developing this partnership in the future to ensure we optimise the commercial opportunities in delivering for our 38 million guests".
