Davidlaw - hear where you are coming from and agree that most businesses big and small have enough difficulty listening to their own employees and customers let alone some unsolicited advice from some expert they have never heard of. Hell I’ve worked for big businesses that have paid to have some consultancy firm come in for a particular task and have even struggled to listen to their advice!
I also appreciate that when it comes to share chat on here one would be wise to remember the words of Marvin Gaye “believe half of what you see son and none of what you hear”! However someone commented on here recently that they had suggested a particular individual would be a suitable influencer to the boohoo marketing team and was mightily impressed that said person was shortly after wearing or promoting boohoo on their social media feed. The two things may or may not be related of course.
Boohoo were criticised by levity for behaving more like a family run entity than the big company they have become so who knows they might just be the exception should you make an informal approach as a shareholder (who cares about their success) as well as as an expert. Worst that can happen is you get the usual treatment but what if they did listen?

PeoplePower, Would be a waste of my time to contact Boohoo, I'm afraid big businesses tend not to listen to freelancers like me, I've SEO reviewed many sites for free giving away valuable information and they NEVER listen.

Last time I checked all the SEO and performance issues remain! That's more than a year after I found the problems and nothing changed. It's the norm, very little of my free advice is taken onboard despite it being capable of making them millions in extra sales.
I could list dozens of issues with the Boohoo site including possible fixes and they won't listen. I suspect it's because those at the top don't understand technical SEO and those who are responsible for the websites either lack the skills to find/fix issues and/or consider my advice as stepping on their toes: if they follow my advice they are in effect admitting they aren't good at what they do!

steveknowsnothin, Actually performance/speed is a major SEO issue now: I've worked as an SEO consultant for nearly 20 years ranging back to when Google was easy to game.
Not only is speed important SEO wise, but it's more important user wise, slow websites lose sales, there's an important stat that for every 1 second delay an average website will lose 7% in conversions!
Google knows this and rewards faster sites because faster sites makes it's search users have a better experience. Faster a website is and Google will send it more traffic.
Even if Google didn't care and it were a much smaller issue, say only 1% conversion loss per second, consider with a website like Boohoo's with a lot of traffic/sales a 1% loss in sales is huge! Slow websites throw away potential sales!
Boohoo isn't special in this regard, most sites I look at have the same sort of performance issues, so few webmasters etc... seem to get this and care enough to put serious time into performance.
It's not easy but you can score 100/100 in Google Lighthouse (one of my sites: https://googlechrome.github.io/lighthouse/viewer/?psiurl=https%3A%2F%2Fseo-gold.com%2F&strategy=mobile&category=performance&category=accessibility&category=best-practices&category=seo&category=pwa&utm_source=lh-chrome-ext and it's on a cheap VPS). Boohoo doesn't need to be that fast (difficult for a 'flashy' site to be VERY fast), but they should be aiming for the upper 70s/100. The annoying part is when there are so many easy wins, so much low hanging fruit, but you can see they aren't even trying!
@DavidLaw their sites are still using JQuery, it's like 2010 called and want their technology back.
Most of their issues are in performance, which is mostly due to the amount of third party JS they are injecting and using caggy old libraries.
Accessibilities and Best Practices are only minor fails that Google wouldn't care too much about.
Anyone else had problems with the main Boohoo sites main menu on a Desktop PC with Google Chrome?
My PC accesses the menu fine (I'm assuming it's Javascript driven), but my wifes PC won't open the menu. Her PC is a recent new install as well (Windows 10) with few changes.
She had a different issue a while back (on a different PC) where the images wouldn't load when she maximised the browser. I found a workaround of not maximising the browser.
Seems their website aren't built particularly well, if it's happening to one customer it's happening to others. Never ceases to amaze me how poorly built/maintained some important sites are and how poorly speed/performance optimised they are!
