A well written letter in my opinion but I still believe it will be ignored and pushed to one side.. Baylan really is a ******...
Definitely a well written letter, just read it myself. Nice work Kurt. We will get this potential Mega mine going one day. B
I've been interested in BEM for a number of years but there has never been the right time to jump in. I don't know the ins and outs here just yet so any help on why the company gone down the legal route after all these years would assist? I thought a legal challenge was mooted a couple of years back. May be wrong there. However there will come a stage whereby the government has nowhere left to turn and with the UNESCO deliberation reaching its head I'm not sure they have many options left before their lack of decision making becomes a legal threat to them. There is a significant resource here the promise of its extraction would see a substantial SP increase. I'm looking to build a position.
There's a good opportunity now for the Minister to redeem the situation...given Kurt has laid it out in every detail.
Sooz, I agree, it's in black and white from Kurt. Mr B can surely bow out having signed off on bringing something meaningful to an entire community and the wider, along with not insignificant taxes for Sweden from said community for many years to come.
evening Eric wonder what llbj has to say about it he’s very quiet keep the faith ,
Evening Al. Yes, Lb has acknowledged that Kurt is awake, so I feel we must take that as a very slight approval of today's RNS action. Lol.
The Riksdag opened again yesterday...back to Thursday meetings then, we live in hope.
That's good. Kurt's letter will hopefully be met with interest, not only from Mr B but from his other colleagues.
In my opinion, there will be no response from Baylan to the latest letter.
Here’s why:
1. He never responded to letters or emails when he had a career to protect / promote.
2. As he is only weeks away from his political “ retirement “ he will be even less likely to cause conflict for or with anyone. He is home free.
3. At just 49 years of age, and with a ministerial position on his CV, he’ll be looking for a few easy directorships in the near future, so will not choose to alienate anyone who can provide him with a nice little earner.
4. Nor will he wish to alienate any politicians as his new commercial paymasters will need him to have access to the corridors of power.
5.He is an intellectual Pygmy.
6. He has zero courage and his first and only instincts are to hide and prevaricate.
Good luck with the next minister, but until the next election it won’t make a jot of difference who is appointed.
EricDraven and Suzy, the letter is nothing more than a Political manoeuvre by KB, applying gentle pressure and case building. Politicians are beyond embarrassment, and a letter is hardly going force Baylan's hand. KB knows this...
Once the autumn budget is passed, for which Green support is needed, there will be a slow decoupling of the parties as they seek to differentiate themselves in the eyes of the electorate prior to the 2022 elections. Job creation through mining would be a good place to start would it not?
llbj no surprises there then, bit of a waste of a letter,
Agree with you Pocko. My speculation was a flight of fantasy but unexpected things do happen sometimes especially when we don't know what's actually going on...like the Minister resigning before making the decision his department has been working on for so long and just at the point when he has all that he wanted to make that decision right there on his desk.
Suzy / Pocko,
It is my hope and belief that, as green policies are being adopted by mainstream parties across the world, the need for a dedicated “ green “ party will evaporate in the same way that, once the Brexit vote had been secured, UKIP disappeared.
The direction and speed of travel towards this will be clearer after the climate conference in October in Glasgow.
Pocko, fair enough. At least Kurt's paper trail content is stacking up against the Government. If Mr B doesn't reply this time then the next letter from Kurt will hopefully be a bit less of, as you say, a political manoeuvre.
I don't feel this letter was such though, as Kurt's tone this time, in my opinion, is more forceful. He's definitely not just going through the motions. As I say, only my view.
Cheers Pocko.
Evening Lb. You have made a good case for Mr B continuing to do nothing for us, but wouldn't it be refreshing if he signed off by making a decision in our favour that would help an entire community? Will he?
Doh!
Mainstream Governments are transitioning to Green policies, and that will undoubtedly sideline fringe parties. However COP26 is more about grandstanding than anything else. And yes, the letter was direct and succinct, but at what point does KB follow it through with some form of direct action? I stand by my assertion that the budget is a key moment in Swedish politics from out perspective, and that KB knows far more than he is permitted to make public.
The PM said he would resign if his Budget wasn't accepted but he's already resigned and it would seem that he didn't expect his Budget to be passed; and I think he's had to work so far with Budgets set by the other Parties. And why would it have anything to do with this Kallak decision. Does it mean the Government will fall if they don't succeed with it?
By already I mean in November he wont stand again as leader of the Social Democrats.
Suzy, Löfven is the PM until the point of resignation, however, his party remains in power irrespective of who leads as Prime Minister until the general election in 2022. The point being that his party is wholly dependent upon the Greens to get the budget through parliament. Hence not upsetting the apple cart. It’s how coalitions work when the tail (The Greens) wags the dog. It’s a weak coalition and always has been...
If the budget is not passed, there will be another constitutional crisis possibly resulting in a snap election which would not bode well for either party at this juncture.
They've promised a decision and they should deliver it now...not in three months time.
I'm not saying otherwise - There is no legal, Political or moral reason for any further delay whatsoever...
