just wondering how this airline is still making profit in the midst of all what has happened with T5 fiasco etc etc. or are the shares still heading south?
not sure if oil is going down soon. keep one of oil and one of airline in your portfolio for a calmer existence?
im off to Barbados too with Virgin !!! flying on Monday... how strange...BA good buy and cheap for the current price.
got out today, off to barbados next week for a fortnight, flying Virgin.but paid for by BA!!.May have look when i get back, still think theres a bit more in this. oil coming down, T5 coming online, talks with other carriers,Maybe we will get rid of Willie, etc etc...good luck all.
In at 210 as stated, out at 240, an easy win.
Airliner British Airways said it is "exploring opportunities for co-operation" with American Airlines and Continental Airlines. The group made the brief statement late Wednesday adding that further details will be announced when appropriate. At the start of week, Continental said it was considering alternatives to its membership of the SkyTeam alliance, which also includes Delta, Northwest and Air-France-KLM. Continental also said that it would not pursue a merger after rumours suggested it was in talks with UAL, parent company of United Airlines.
there were more news about ba introducing fuel surchgs an sp went up to 21 day high of 229.25? why
..save on recycling costs , hey , ney or hay , lol , gl..
It sure is! I have heard 200. You're right, the Modern God! People are telling me to get in to Thermal Coal markets because it is more environmentally friendly! Whats the world coming to? Soon they'll be telling us to use horses as they are easier to recycle than cars. Anyway, cant complain at Oil recently, its lifting a few shares very well indeed.
..it is something is is not.. people talking 200 even. I have been tempted to short oil as I am thinking enough is enough , but , this black stuff is really amazing , all politics and war , the modern god. People here in remote france are switching to modern boilers that run off just wood and at £500-£1000,you just set them up alongside your oil burner. The price of wood has not gone up for years here and there is an abundence of it. I have a large home for a large family here in france 6000 euros in oil spring '07 - spring '08... would have saved the install cost plus had I switched last year , have now ordered!! I have care homes in the UK , fixed prices better than I did last years at for both gas and electric , but still get bills that I am amazed at!
I think we will be lucky to see Oil down that low. My day to day grind hinges around the oil industry and they are talking C. $170 per barrel by the year end. It is all speculation though.....
...do what u feel, BA stock still fell 6% over those 3 trading days days though..lol , gl , mark
i think i'll sell, thats where most my investment is and i need it to trade.in one yr i would have recouped the loss and made more than just holding.there was a trend analyst on bloomberg over the weekend saying he thinks oil will come down to around $100 in a wk or so!lets hope he's right.
..got my ba's mixed up , sincere appologies ! Ba is pivoting between 200-240. Airlines are in the main being whacked by the price of fuel. Bums on seats may or may not change with consumer downturn and airlines are just generally receiving bad press on future earnings. There is every liklihood that further consolidation will happen within the airline sector and BA's T5 and other slots have great commercial value. If you do not need to capitalise the loss , ie. if you do not need to take your monies out for any reason , I would leave them in as , imo , there will be a recovery long term , 1 years or so , as extra fuel costs will then be priced in as a norm accross the sector. Again , sorry about my confusion , no intent meant. I will certainly be comming back in at c.200 should they drop to that level.
mark-expat wrote:(12 apr) if this continues over the next 3 trading sessions , with BA going "ex-div on Wednesday" , their shares are likely to drop 3% before wednesday and a further 3% on Wednesday , going ex-div?!?!!! where did u hear this from? wrote: -hope you got out heyhey,gl no i still have nt,new to this sharedealing game and have nt taken a loss yet.if i do it would be a hefty one,i bought in at 329,and if i take the loss it'll be hard.i guess yesterdays high of 225 was the best i could have got, with the imminent profit warning on may 16.do u think may 16th could be another point of no return in terms of sp.so may be should sell at best price before then.i have to work hard to recoup the loss afterwards.
..common knowledge to most but worth keeping a watch on. I have no open positions on BA currently and am looking at how things shape up over the next 2-3 weeks before making a move on BA http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/analysts-braced-for-ba-profit-warning-as-oil-price-leaves-airlines-struggling-817356.html
got in on these and stagecoach early last week.was going to get out today, but i think i will stay in a while.i think transports are in for a bit of a rally.Despite everything, figures are saying more people than ever are travelling.
ah ok, thanks. I hadnt noticed on others.
don't ever trust the 16.35 trades as indicators. they are normally balancingtrades and you will find them on each share

EOS airlines has just announced that they are closing business, although small they had taken a fair amount of the top end traffic on BA's most profitable route London-New York. This should give a boost to the price, besides they haven't shot themsleves in the foot for several days now
ABN downgraded easyJet, up 8¾p to 296¾p, and Ryanair, up 0.15 cents to €2.78, from buy to hold and cut its price target on British Airways, 7¼p higher at 220p, to 200p from 260p.

poop poop, all aboard...
..I was surprised by the turn around late wednesday , guess the bottom was found! Closed my position and put into easyjet yesterday morning where I think that any recovery in airlines will be better be served.
