Yes exactly....as I say, the wheels are firmly in motion!
It’s like playing dot to dot before you work out the big picture.
As someone else posted, Sir AS certainly does know what he’s doing imo
Could the fact that Medusa19 have already set the website up to sell online suggest this too? Surely if there was any chance of the tests not being available / being miles away from being available you wouldn’t set up the actual website
Research and development takes time.
I suspect more projects arrive late than on time.
I don't think this project is delayed. Sir A suggested mid summer has his important milestone. Given the experience people have had with Abs why do we not have a LFD based on that tech.
No problem with Avacta playing it close to their chest - this will be the first commercial affimer LFD . The opportunity to get this spectacularly right is there - I'm happy with then managing that without updating the market with no real news.
Scotty,
Yes, I have also been mulling over this scenario.
Boils down to wether having the prototype finished is worthy enough of an RNS. Given that Sir Al didn't flag any doubts that a prototype could be made then it may not be worthy enough. So it is a definte possibility that i is already done and in trials.
2 things give these thoughts some credence.
Firstly, there was no RNS to inform the market that Avacta were trying to make reagents for the spike protein. They only released the RNS when they had successfully manufactured them.
Secondly and more bizarely was that post yesterday from someone claiming to know that these tests were being trialled at JCUH (James Cook University Hospital) already. I know most thought that was BS and of course it highly likely was. But, bizarre post none the less, especially to name the actual hospital.
Guess we will see soon enough.
AM, personally I stopped listening to Johnson a long time ago. Don't pin all your Hope's on Covid 19 (refer once again to Optigene post). It will be the long term where avacta will come good IMveryHO
Good post Scotty. I feel the same . With boris talking abut pregnancy style tests last week, you would think given the testing debacle to date, he would not risk saying anything that could be damaging if is not supremely advanced and guaranteed to work and deploy quickly. Boris could end up being the worst prime minister of all time having overseen a cataclysmic economic comedown. With an ego like his he will not risk any further damage. Much of what Avacta will be doing now is focusing on the politics of a major breakthrough like ours. get the politicians onside as they can then be seen as pioneers and great solvers of a problem and in return they buy millions of tests. Alistair Smith is really coming across as quite the astute businessman. I suspect he will release that the test works, is about to get approval and then swiftly drop in major commercial orders. He will have seen our the likes of genedrive can get their CE but then wait another month or so for orders. Cytiva/Kamani/Avacta and no doubt some of our partners (currently unknown ones by us) will be currently involved in discussions at the highest political levels across the globe. When the newsflow starts I truly believe it will not stop with orders coming from far and wide. This is far bigger than any of us currently fathom.
Did you read the link in Optigene?
I think there may be more players in this than you realise.

I would imagine there are challenges, but I’m sure Cytiva are working hard. Worth reading Zoe’s thesis if you haven’t already. The most relevant section starts on page 154 (169 pdf).

I recommend searching on youtube for "affimer". Lots to see and take in if you fancy being a LTH.

scottyvid,
You just took the words out of my mouth!
I have been thinking, is this delay due to "technical issues" by Cytiva in producing the prototype strip? Or is it because they haver done and dusted that minor technical challenge, and with Avacta's permission, have already embarked on the clinical testing procedure?
Either way, it would be helpful for shareholders to be kept in the loop.
After deciding to play 18 holes of golf this morning and coming home feeling like I can’t move....I decided to watch some of the videos Alastair did on Sky news and GMB. Plus the shareholder presentation.
Listening to some of the language used /answers given in those updates, I would not be surprised If we are further along the road than ppl think!
Just my opinion but could they already have the LFT but trialling it first before announcing? Furthermore, I do not think you would announce the Medusa 19 RNS unless the test was in hand? Otherwise you would just wait to announce as to avoid any ‘egg on your face’ if something were to then go wrong - especially given the ppl involved.
What an exciting week upcoming - the clues are all there, let’s now smash the ball out the park!
