"I don't think that Covid vaccines are useless but their ineffectiveness..."
@Barry5 sounds like you are saying that vaccines are ineffective i.e. useless. But I presume you think that an "ineffective" vaccine is not "useless"?
Hi marik, I do tend to baulk at the term anti-vax because it usually comes across as a dismissive attempt to discredit anyone who is not happy with THIS particular vaccine whereas opposers have a number of reasons for being concerned about the effectiveness of the vaccines and overall Government Covid policy.
I don't think that Covid vaccines are useless but their ineffectiveness has hampered the response to the pandemic. If they had been safe and effective as we were all promised, we would not be in the position we are currently in with many of the double-jabbed suffering bad doses of Covid and dying. IMO Government should have kept to the original script and only vaccinated the elderly and those with underlying conditions and certainly never children.
Anyway, let's hope we get some positive news on AVCT in the coming weeks. It is my 2nd largest investment and I've been here for over two years now and it would be nice to get a nice re-rate before Christmas.
@Marik (repetitive prick) another interesting read.

https://www.cochrane.org/CD015043/HAEMATOL_vitamin-d-effective-and-safe-treatment-covid-19
An interesting read:
- We did not find enough, good-quality evidence to judge whether vitamin D is an effective or safe treatment for adults with COVID-19.
- We need more research on this topic. Future research should focus on well-designed studies with robust methods.
- We identified 21 studies on this topic that are ongoing. We will update this review when more evidence becomes available.

I am part of a majority on the LSE Avacta bulletin board that is fed up with trolls. In unity with my fellow shareholders, I have filtered:
Ndn71 RorkesDrift coolfree wyndrum AgentB
I suggest that everyone reading this, who hasn't already filtered these names, clicks on 'Filters' and then copies and pastes in the entire line of Usernames mentioned above.
We as supportive shareholders of Avacta, will add further Usernames of other trolls to this list, if required. But: we will not let discussions over “troll-blocking” clog the bulletin board, needlessly.
I have taken it upon myself, in union with my fellow shareholders, to not respond AT ALL to the baiting of the trolls in response to this Signature.
To LSE admin reading this: I would rather be banned than continue to read the disgusting drivel and slander, on an hourly basis, from the trolls named above - that you have hitherto failed to police. Get a grip; do your job.

marik, on your point about reading "an article mentioning the 61 people" (who tested positive for Covid on a Dutch flight from Souith Africa) and that "more needs to be done to tackle the variant, the earlier the better. The really scary part are the anti vaccine and mask groups who think this is all fake news".
It is a huge irony that the 61 passengers on that flight would have been fully vaccinated since unvaccinated would not have been permitted to fly. That is a reality. As to fake news IMO most things that emanate from MSM are, if not fake, utterly distorted in order to fit in to the particular Government message of the moment.
As regards AVCt, I just hope we can get ourselves in to a position to be confirm that our LFT can detect the new mutation.
Now in Australia - https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/australasia/omnicron-australia-new-south-wales-b1965452.html
Will be everywhere soon, if not already
I have provided links to the academic study showing that higher levels of vitamin D are indicative of better Covid outcomes and video from a doctor who recommends the relevant dosages. This is so you can DYOR. Many people are taking Vitamin D supplementation bc they have heard it is good for boosting the immune system in the Winter, but the current recommended daily allowance was formulated to guard against rickets. Higher dosage needed for immunity boosting.
(Or you can just continue to fall prey to the constant fear-mongering as U.K. Gov obviously wants you to do.)
AgentB as far as I'm aware is not qualified to tell people what medication to take
She should be banned from LSE, if it was financial advice she would be
You have just advised that people should take 4000 to 800 0 high dose D3 tablets and 2000 of the incorrect vitamin K tablets per day
Here is the link to the academic paper. Vitamins are readily available and cheap!
COVID-19 Mortality Risk Correlates Inversely with Vitamin D3 Status

“ Agree with getting the vaccine and booster, but there are other things we can all do to protect us all and reduce the spread. Everyone should wear a face mask in public places.”
And one of the key things (which they never mention) is to boost our vitamin D levels (enhances both immune system generally and vaccine effectiveness according to German study).

Recommend dose = 100-200mg per day as well as 200 mg of vitamin K
100% this was a time for Sajid Javid to be addressing the public and taking decisive action. Instead we have delays, and talks of waiting for weeks before taking further action. The scientists standing next to Boris gave advice to the Gov, but they chose to ignore it.
@Marik,
Don’t disagree.
Boris was very uncommitted tonight and indicated that Sajid Javid would make a statement in the coming days. Why wasn’t he there tonight?
Agree with getting the vaccine and booster, but there are other things we can all do to protect us all and reduce the spread. Everyone should wear a face mask in public places.
We have had lock downs with schools, shops, pubs, gyms, hairdressers closed. We now have an improved level of freedom and we need to maintain that.
Face masks on, stay safe and be nice to each other, …
@RMFatGB I've just read an article mentioning the 61 people (see link). More needs to be done to tackle the variant, the earlier the better. The really scary part are the anti vaccine and mask groups who think this is all fake news. Provisional data suggests that Omicron transmission is high and it can evade host immunity. Time will tell, but this is the time for action by the UK Gov.

I am part of the 100% majority that think Mr Biscuit is a pain in the arse. Pointed out as being a pump a dump dick he insists on filling every thread with his “mummy, why won’t they let me win” message, which means the rest of us have to scroll endlessly through any thread he post too. Whilst his post are always *******s, it makes finding any information a chore. Maybe that’s the end game?
Mr Biscuit we all know the text off by heart, do us all and our thumbs a favour and just post “insert dumb ass text here”.
That said I do enjoy the **** tske ebetytime he does it so it’s not all bad.
Thanks I advance.
Not enough being done by Boris and Co. Although companies like Avacta will be able to help against the new variant, there still needs to be a strong and immediate response by the Gov. to slow down the spread and stay ahead of the curve. This is very worrying.

Never stopped wearing masks. Sorry off topic, but:
It's a shame that the world's only antiviral mask (clinically tested to kill 99.6% of ALL viruses and bacteria on contact for a minimum of 7 hours and invented/made in Nottingham) has now been sub licenced out to a German filter Co. Voltex.
The company could not get an order book, selling them at £1 each so sent machine backup to lack of cash and GOV not interested. Rant over, but on bright side, still got 40 masks left.
I say Avacta, sod the gov and concentrate on rest of world, they are only bothered about brown envelopes.
@Losta:
Amsterdam airport authorities caught 61 passengers from just one plane load yesterday!!!!!!!
And how many have they infected on the plane or in the airport?
Covid is airborne hence the need for masks.
We need to wear masks in public places in the UK again.
Here is the article from the BBC. When Avacta proved that they could detect the Delta using Affidx it was a major milestone the importance of which was missed by investors - this isn't surprising considering some of the comments on here yesterday (lacking background and experience). The listed companies in the leisure and travel sectors took a big hit yesterday which should be a sign as to how the market is taking the news. The current spread of Omicron will catalyse the CDTA and HUA and Avacta application results are imminent.

Aim is not known for been rational,so who knows.
Huge rise in Covid stocks next week I’d imagine!
Why on earth didn’t they test the plane passengers when they disembarked the planes?
Amsterdam airport authorities caught 61 passengers from just one plane load yesterday!!!!!!!
Step forward Avacta. Can the Avacta Affimer LFT detect Omicron?
If it does, could speed up CTDA and HUA.
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/first-uk-cases-of-omicron-variant-identified
Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid said:
Thanks to our world class genomic sequencing we have been made aware of two UK cases of the Omicron variant. We have moved rapidly and the individuals are self-isolating while contact tracing is ongoing.
Dr Jenny Harries, Chief Executive of UKHSA, said:
We have identified these cases thanks to the UK’s advanced sequencing capabilities which means we are able to find variants and take rapid action to limit onward spread.
