Hey Craigy! No problem, keep the bullets coming, it'll take a lot to shoot down this old boy, especially when I'm just stating facts, not wildly optimistic settlement figures.
Tango1, who wrote the word "amicable"...? Not the Slavs for sure. Indeed, even AST says;
"at this stage there can be no certainty that an amicable settlement will be achieved with the Republic of Sloveni"
Trust me, I'd love to see your figures come true, but I'm not holding my breath here. Too burnt in the past by optimistic RNS' that mostly result in disappointment. AST can't afford an expensive legal battle, or will they come cap-in-hand to the shareholders, again, promising riches at the end of the rainbow...?
oldblue, yep completely valid to add point 4 and even though I haven't read anywhere in media of government/minister categorically rejecting Ascent settlement offer, there is a chance of this option to happen.
I think there are holders genuinely frustrated and not just shorters or whoever wish to lower their entry/top up. Share might slide down a bit more if there are no news until 19th March, perhaps at 10.5p-11p buyers will appear again. Low volume suggest no leaks, imo.
in 2 weeks time we should know either way and tango assesment i think aligns with mine all imho and good luck all
The settlement will depend on several fronts ie:
1, To leave Slovenia Project (Max Pay out ).75m
2,To stay in Slovenia with 5 year extension but submit an EIA (MID Pay out).50m
3, Stay in Slovenia with permits not required and extension of 5 years (Min Pay out).20-35m
Slovenia do not want Arbitration but are also not going to just throw money at AST, Amicable is the operative word. AIMHO
but 4. worst case BIT case goes longer but seems they want to settle we shall see.....
yup carefull not to step on the shorters....
me here since 24/04/2018

Bingo burnemc! Well said.
Since this big gas/oil field has been proved that can be flown with right procedures and very commercially viable, this raised eyebrows to Petrol (incl. government) straight away.
Most likely JV terms will be renegotiated down to uncontrollable level to Ascent or a complete exit from Slovenia for Ascent. All dependent on amicable agreement obviously. gla
I too am a LTH who sold out so back to try and recoup but I do think there are differences to when we were invested with Hutch and Carver and Hendos selling at an artificial manipulated premium to get their money back with profit.
I have said this before do not underestimate the role Petrol have to play in this now and they want gas flowing into their region under their control so the sooner this is all sorted out then that can happen - there is no way it will be flowing to Croatia and INA.....
By the way not unusual to see a share fall back a bit after good news and before more - hold on and time your exits carefully.
All IMO

Alfie2, I agree with you. I believe there probably will be a payout, but after arbitration and it'll be small as AST don't have the funds to fight this. It definitely won't be anywhere near the £120m as speculated by some on here.
Why am I here?? Been here for years. Got to a point now where it's hardly worth selling. If you want the full story, I used to day trade, made good money, set percentage profits, stop losses, etc, but my circumstances including work and country changed. As it was no longer my main income, I foolishly took my eye off the ball, and removed stop-loss from AST thinking it was going to go north. Yes, stupid mistake but I guess we've all done it. That's why we're here!
You'll see from my history that I don't post much as my portfolio now just sits there in the background, but still get slightly excited when news appears to come through... Then I remember we've been here many times before with AST, hopes built up then dashed. I think I know the pattern now, but I still admit that I could (hopefully) be wrong, though the more I see of AST the less likely I believe we'll ever see anything as there's nothing solid here.
So basically I think we agree, maybe £15m, maybe less. Are AST really going to fight if they're offered that?
Good luck.
Happyzone, if you really believe that this is going to arbitration, why are you still invested here ? What do you think will happen to the share price if the Slovenian response is 'take us to court' ? Probably halve or worse , yet you claim to have 50k invested and you're prepared to watch probably more than half your investment disappear ...........Really ?
For what it's worth , I think there will be a favourable settlement but the offer will be the bare minimum (15m + all permits) , they think they can get away with, as they will gamble on the fact that Ascent, will not want lengthy court proceedings.
