It could move the share price as hedge funds may think to themselves that the turnaround is happening and there is also a potential of a sale of TS or a complete buyout. The hedge funds collectively have a lot of shares to buyback. I wouldn't want to be shorting this if I were them, would you? There are much better prospects out there for shorting, the risk reward is moving away from the hedge funds with regards to asos. I'm sure they would prefer the prospect of buying back below 500 opposed to buying back over 1000 plus.
Decent steady day today.. :)
This is just speculation as per...Will not move the SP in anyway until we get an RNS confirmation.
Typo should be wouldn’t lift the assets.
Got to be positive tho
I wonder what value of the £300m is in the books at.
They’ve got £700m of intangibles still there so it must be pretty high.
So if they got back what they paid for it (maybe some has been amortised) it would reduce intangible assets and no doubt pay down debt but unless it’s a mega offer would life the net assets.
However net assets are a good bit higher than market cap so maybe the market would prefer cash / lower debt to an intangible given the liquid nature of cash !
We will see
It's no secret that MA wanted to buy the TS brands. With the share price where it is I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a full takeover of ASOS.
The problem though if they sold TS separately and commenced a share buy back it would possibly put MA and Poulsen over 30% which would cause a dilemma.
With the turnaround plan working and renewed interest in TS the share price should be way higher. Interesting times here.
I think it could very easily turn into a full blown buy out however; I can't really get my hopes up after last time.
If the price is right (£300m +) - clear some debt / share buy back, and a distribution deal …otherwise don’t you dare, Jose 🙏🏽
Don’t see them selling TS, personally am but whoever knows.

I don't think it will make it move unless there is something formally made and the company passes it on. It's the same as last November when the initial Topshop rumours came about.
I can certainly believe the non stop interest part. It's clearly performing very well and Jose is very happy with it. Price needs to be right if ASOS are to act otherwise no point in entertaining it if we don't have to imo.
Do we not think it will make the SP move northly?Regardless.
Kind of makes you wonder why that article was released on results day, not that I'm cynical.
Things are heating up people..
Asos is said to have received *non-stop
interest" from a range of high-profile retailers,
including the China-founded fashion giant.
Authentic Brands Group (ABG), the owner of
collapsed Ted Baker and Forever 21, is also
thought to have shown fresh interest.

What is current market cap of Asos? Looks like huge interest in just the top shop bit.
If the CEO now comes out and says we have had an offer of hundreds of millions of pounds for JUST topshop, does that not make a mockery of the current SP for Asos?
Like a bit between it's teeth they won't let it go.
The times reporting Shein are expressing interest in Topshop again. Would be good to know what the TS performance was for the period covering the latest update.
I'm just throwing it out there but, do we not think the customers who are most profitable to the company, are the ones prepared to spend a little more and thus not wanting the cheaper option such as Shein.
In other words, there's a kind of natural footfall according to the customers expenditure habits resulting in people who spend less and want a bargain naturally going elsewhere?
They say active customers decreased to 21 millions from 24 millions (-14% almost similar to revenue decrease of 18%) because they remain with profitable ones. I think this is also a fear as the market is not sure of this if really customers leave because of less discounts and less lower priced items or because they migrate in mass in this env to low priced online retailers like Shein or wherever else.
LMR heavily reduced thier position, back under threshold for them. 1x buy and 1x sell rating (hey, at least theres a buy 🤣) - none of it means anything at all ofc.
imo wasnt a bad update, much of what we were expecting anyhow, sounds positive for the rest if year and next fy though. strong buy/hold from me
Pot kettle lol
Yawn.......
Circa 5% up is better than a gap down.
A steady climb would be nice with plenty of director buys and updates along the way.
You posted "Big Buys coming in" at 14.30 and there is still NO sign of them...... Are you sre you are on the right board?
