According to someone on advfn, the short sellers may be closing....
'Big trouble for the three funds who are short here: BennBridge, Merian and TT Internationl. The latter is being wise and covering, but the other two could get squeezed significantly in the short term.'
Good to see the excessive cash pile put to good use.
Good to see the excessive cashpile put to good use.
The announcement today is significant. It is a great product in a big segment. Trading update more of the usual stuff , SOLID. SP due to jump soon. Brexit not helping but ultimately will mean nothing.
RNS today / Trading in line with expectations. Feet on the ground, no exaggerations.
Progress continues all the time, steady as she goes, accumulating cash and more cash.
Cannot think of a sounder outfit.
Share price has retreated quite a bit recently, at current 277p the shares are beginning to look rather oversold. Right , right now may well prove to be a good time to bu. I But as always DYOR.
I hold long term.
the sp chart shows over the last three months.
With the share being lower than it should be, and with all that cash in the bank, predator interest could well be aroused.
Poole, I agree.
Hello anglehardy - have not heard any rumours (source?) as to acquisition process but would not expect to! However when I read the CEO's comment accompanying the recent Interim Results his wording as to monitoring/evaluating acquisition opportunities etc. perhaps suggested to me that they were getting closer to making one. Net cash >£70m and unused bank facility of £50m. You say current share price (back recently from 370p) surprises you - in what way? It would not be too great a surprise to me if at some stage they became a target themselves
I believe I said I'd take profits above £4 if it got there in the short term. That wasn't a prediction, just a level at which I would sell.
H1 Results out today are good, nice EPS rise, good Divi rise, profit margins up and exciting new products pipeline.
Just makes talk of £4 seem that bit more premature.
Not really - you might have noticed that the market is down sharply since then. AMS performance not markedly different, or unexpected for a mid-cap.
To justify this drop.
To break the silence here, I have been with AMS for many years and intend to stay with AMS for many more years. Great performer, excellent management, honest outlook statements, honesty all the way.
Hey up Matt I'm glad you're still on board and it's worked out well for you. Solid business and companies like it are like hen's teeth these days.
Hi Mancs - yep, I'm still here. Bought in at 60p initially (back end of 2012, beginning of 2013), and kept adding up to £1. I have sold bits and pieces along the way since then, but remain with a core holding here. Doesn't look cheap I have to say, but happy to hold here and perhaps take some more profits above £4.
Regarding your wider point, I wholeheartedly agree - It always makes me laugh to see hundreds of posts per day on highly speculative AIM/Mining stocks with no profits and dodgy management (which usually go bust) whilst high quality stocks like this which generate fantastic long-term value are largely ignored! ho hum!
I smile when I look at the number of comments on here over the years. I'm in SXX and sometimes they can get 8 pages of comments in a single day. Go back eight pages on AMS and you see my first comment back in Feb 2010 lol.
Even though this has ten bagged since then nothings changed here, it's like a quite back water with one guy and his dog fishing.
Matt the Brave are you still in ? I am to a smaller extent now as I gradually sold as the price ran through the 2 and 3 pounds. Been a great company run by an excellent team. I wish anyone whose just jumped on board over the past few years and the team at Advanced all the very best for the coming years.
AMS continues to make good progress across the Group and can confirm that trading is in line with the Board's expectations. Good enough for me, they never disappoint in the past and true to thier words in their updates, sp should go up steadily
Another solid set of results from a well run Company , well done to the BOD and employees
Er....bang goes support at 310p How about 280p then? ;-)
Has bounced off 310p on a number of occasions now, so, in the absence of any negative news, a 'buy' below that?
MattTheBrave, You may well get your chance to buy back in at 250p at this rate!
RNS on licensing deal seems to be the catalyst, although aside from the upfront payment and minimums for '18 and '19, there doesn't seem much detail as to what this actually means for AMS. Anyone got any more?
