Couldn't resist. May take a while to recover.
Probably this element from today's RNS didn't help: We have seen some evidence that capacity constraints within the construction industry generally have caused delay to some projects. While this may have an impact on timing, we continue to believe that management's expectations for the group's full year financial performance will be achieved. http://www.investegate.co.uk/alumasc-group-plc--alu-/rns/agm-statement/201510220700050318D/ but, overall, they seem confident overall for the future. Maybe a buying opportunity?
not in here but tempted to be at these prices, it doesnt look like it goes ex divi today and the payment day doesnt normally cause a drop like this. Maybe a tree shake or maybe just some profit taking?
divi payment account for dip per chance?
Anyone have any idea why the dip today. Seems to have good news surrounding it?
Chequemate, just realised our old mate Robbie tipped ALU on his last blog 24/9/15. Stating he believes 'Fair Value' on this company is around 250.
Well howdy CHEQUEMATE, sorry I hadn't noticed your comment before, but as you say this is a very very quiet board, even I only check it once a month, so was quite surprised to see your name. I've been here nearly 2 years, and pretty much watched it do nothing for most of it, but that is just how we like them !!!. The last 3 months have been very positive, hope you got in before the last jump. In saying that though this has risen pretty rapidly recently and I would imagine a bit of a pullback before rising again. Obviously would be even happier if it continued to rise, as I do see this as a takeover target at some point in the future. But we have to be realistic.
Looking at ALU fundamentals, I notice how much of the criteria it meets using the Zulu Principle by Jim Slater. Applying that criteria to my research before I invest has led to my best performing shares over the last 3 years or so. I am increasing interested therefore. I have looked at the share price graph, which could be stronger. I prefer to see a graph rising steadily over a decent period. If I overlay it with the Bollinger Bands for up to 3 years, I notice that right now the share price is above the upper band. Generally the share price of any company will trade between the upper and lower bands and will fall back if it has risen above the upper band (as it has at present). Conversely, the share price will generally rise if it has fallen below the lower band. Neither case is guaranteed of course. What I am ideally looking for here is a rising share price overall (obviously) and to invest when the share price is not above the upper BB. So, on that basis, I may wait for the share price to fall back a tad. I have also compared the share price graph with one of my holdings, MSLH, same industry. Interesting. Although MSLH graph looks better, the ratio of mkt. cap to pretax profit and yield are better for ALU. Hmm. Regards CM
On my watch list. Interesting. Some good figures and positive comments in last results. Share price graph nothing to write home about though. Spread is a little larger than I would like. Nice, quiet board - usually an encouraging sign. And not least, PingPong1 is on here!. Hello PP1. Regards CM
Great results from ALU, we should finally have some good movement in this share now
Yes its a very very quiet board, I think with the lack of movement over the last year, its kept many an investor away. But dividend is reasonable. With disposal there should be an increase in revenues and net profit and then hopefully an increase of share price which like you say should get us some more interest and a steady increase in buys. How far the share price will go, I have no idea, lets just hope now that the company is leaner that there is a predator around the corner.
Hi PP. I was beginning to think I was on the Marie Celeste so it's good to know that there's at least two of us. I bought some shares in February on the back of an IC recommendation and until last week had next to nothing to show other than a dividend, so it's good to finally see so positive movement. It will be interesting to see how far it goes and how quickly but buys seem to be steadily increasing now. Good luck.
Hopefully todays 5% rise might explain something for you, and long may these kind of rises continue. I was in the same boat as you, in that I have been very close to selling recently, as the share price has been very slowly dropping back. Just hope now we may get some momentum to carry this share upwards.
Does anyone have any news or progress report on the decision to off load Alumasc Precision (I think that's what it's called), or any other views as to why the sp has not really moved up in recent months. I had hoped for something more positive and I'm looking for a reason not to move on. All thoughts welcome.
to all Alumasc holders
incl biggies...so not about to fight this
Some thought that may be of interest. http://www.privatepunter.co.uk/
assuming pension deficit counted as liability ...pls check the sums
so top sliced
cheers...fingers crossed
Jolly..results due Tuesday. All the best here mate.
Completely agree would be very happy with slow and steady but like yourself suspect large movements in both directions as we have seen in the last year, but thankfully the general direction is upwards and long may it continue. Fundamentals are good and its in a growing sector, my personal belief is the building sector will have good growth for the next 3 or 4 years with best years being 2014 and 2015. So hopefully should be in for a nice share price increase over the next four years. Another thing I like about ALU is that for a Fledgling company it has a very good dividend yield, and again one I believe they will increase over the coming years. All in all a great company to be involved with, not trying to ramp just think it has good prospects. Cheers PP
I am happy with slow and steady... ...but suspect that sp here will lurch (depending on execution)...so could shoot up to/approach £2 in 2014 imv (if execution up to scratch) ...fingers crossed/no advice intended
Hi there been invested in here a couple of months, and think this could be a nice slow burner as its showing today with its 5 per cent increase. Do you have any predictions for the year or are we just hoping for a nice and steady increase. Or if it hits the radar a nice big increase ?
Thursday 24 October 2013 THE ALUMASC GROUP PLC ("ALUMASC" OR THE "GROUP") INTERIM MANAGEMENT STATEMENT Alumasc, the premium building and engineering products company, is publishing its first interim management statement for the year ending 30 June 2014 covering the period from 1 July 2013 to date, ahead of its Annual General Meeting being held in London at 10.30am today. The new financial year has started well, maintaining the momentum of the previous year. Whilst Group revenues are only a little ahead of prior year levels, operating margins have continued to increase due to the greater relative maturity of larger construction contracts, a strong performance from our Rainwater & Drainage brands, improving results in our Roofing business and lower operating losses at Alumasc Precision as the recovery plan progresses. The broad trends observed across our businesses in the previous financial year have continued. The Building Products division continues to outperform the UK construction market and exceed our internal expectations. Dyson Diecastings continues to perform very well. However, Alumasc Precision Components remains in loss following the reduction in sales volumes reported in the second half of the prior financial year. Cash performance continues to be ahead of expectation, with net debt so far this financial year being on average some £3 million lower than a year ago. Order intake remains satisfactory, with the overall order books now standing at £36 million compared with £44 million at 30 June 2013. This movement has been driven largely by the delivery of work on the large Kitimat order in Canada and a lower order book at APC following reduced demand from China. In view of the positive trends remaining as before, the Board's expectations for the full year are unchanged. END
