I always, perhaps naively, thought that if the business case was sound and improving, a share price rise would follow- the minds bit. With TXP though there seems to be a lack of sentiment, the hearts bit, which Ive never thought to factor in before. I dont know how you resolve that. On paper the company still seems a no brainier and yet investors at large seem to shun it. What do BB members reckon the catalyst is for addressing the sentiment/heart issues?
I last posted before Christmas saying I had given up micro managing my portfolio to poor effect, choosing instead to stick with three stocks for three years in the hope of doubling my money. With the Beutong license now granted, the one issue that had always been nagging me, I couldnt resist a final tinker. Ive stuck with my stock choices, TAP, TXP but doubling my holding in ARS. The one single fact that has impressed me is that for the third year running, the BoD have taken share options in lieu of a fee. That gives me so much confidence for who, in my opinion, is better placed to make a judgement than the guys on the ground and what better way of demonstrating it!
I seem to have a gift for buying high and selling low, which is not helping achieve my goal of doubling my portfolio value over the next three years. My attempts to micro manage fail through lack of knowledge and experience, so I have finally resolved to diversify into three holdings (ARS being one) and sit on them for the three years. All are highly rated by informed BB members as representing extremely good value and exceptional growth prospects. We shall see as I hope to report annually on how it (my strategy) is panning out. Probably famous last words. A final question if I may, views on the effect of the Beutong licence being granted are well documented. What, however, would be the effect on the share over the next three years if it wasnt? Gla
Because of the usual substantial spread with this share, I will on ocassions 'pretend' I am going to sell them in order to seek the current market price. Increasingly I am unable to do this as the message comes back, 'unable to get a live quote' or words to that effect. Can anyone tell why this should be and if it's a cause for concern? Many thanks.
Hovering around a fall yesterday and down 3.67% today. Any ideas why? What does the market know?
Picking up on the subject of store activity, my lasting impression ( from three different stores) is the physical size of the enterprise compared to the low number of staff on duty. The result has sometimes been frustrating as a customer, but comforting I guess as an investor, suggesting low(ish) overheads. As a small investor, I see this as quite a defensive stock offering relative shelter amidst global upheaval and questionable national economic improvement. I'm considering increasing my holding a little and would be interested in non ramping views as to target prices and dates, or indeed a further possible retrace? Gla.
Hi PP. I was beginning to think I was on the Marie Celeste so it's good to know that there's at least two of us. I bought some shares in February on the back of an IC recommendation and until last week had next to nothing to show other than a dividend, so it's good to finally see so positive movement. It will be interesting to see how far it goes and how quickly but buys seem to be steadily increasing now. Good luck.
Does anyone have any news or progress report on the decision to off load Alumasc Precision (I think that's what it's called), or any other views as to why the sp has not really moved up in recent months. I had hoped for something more positive and I'm looking for a reason not to move on. All thoughts welcome.
Thanks for that. I can see how a lower inflation rate could impact, but even then a 22p drop? I just wondered if I'd missed anything significant. At least the day ended on a positive note with some big buys going through. Might try to scrap a few quid together myself.
A dramatic 22p drop today. Can anyone please tell me why?
On Wednesday, Libero requests a halt to the rising share price and it duely stops. Perhaps if you're still of a mind to come in you could ask it to rise.
Hi CM. I'm one of those who observe these boards at a distance as I have with little understanding of the markets and in truth, little desire to do so, on the basis that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I tend instead to pick up on those contributors who over time seem to offer helpful, insightful comments and can tolerate lesser beings. One of those was Mogie. I was aware he'd taken a break, but in a recent post, you gave the impression that you either had contact or knowledge of him. That being the the case, please pass on my best wishes for a speedy return. The other contributor I've come to appreciate is of course yourself. Yes, I'm afraid you've got a fan! So please continue to share/let slip your thoughts on worthwhile opportunities. Regards, Dogwatch
Can anyone tell me please why the share price has dropped so much recently. Have the potatoes developed blight?
On behalf of RNWH, welcome to this BB . This is my first EVER posting on any board, but I follow others at a distance where you are a most highly respected contributor. Your appearance here therefore, in my view, bodes well for this share. With my level of knowledge and understanding, I probably shouldn't even be an investor, but by following various BBs, there are those contributors whose views and snippets I value and trust, yourself being one. Please keep them coming.
