Summary
Afritex is an investment holding company with strategic investments in African based operations that market seafood to a global base of customers. Through its subsidiary companies Afritex owns and operates Longline fishing operations in Mozambique and Mauritius.
The core focus of our Longline operations is on the export of premium quality fresh tuna, swordfish and mahi mahi globally. Our self-owned vessel fleet was expanded in 2017 with a further 10 vessels, 7 will be dedicated to Longline fishing and 3 to Demersal bottom fishing. That brings our total to 14 Longline and 3 Demersal vessels. The latter will specifically target species such as Snapper, Grouper and Emperor.
One of our Longline vessels in Mozambique will be converted to target Mahi Mahi, a highly sought after commodity worldwide. The expansion of our fleet will see our fresh exports rise to 2.8 million kilograms in 2018 and 5 million kilograms in 2019, making Afritex a formidable player in the fresh tuna and swordfish industry.
Our trawler operation is based in Maputo, Mozambique and includes 3 self-owned fishing trawlers, from which we yield our high-end range of prawns, langoustine, lobster and deep sea crab.
Our substantial global retail business is based in Mauritius, sourcing seafood for some of Africa and USA’s largest retailers.
The Afritex group places high value on social responsibility, sustainability in the method in which we harvest our seafood and in conducting fair and ethical business practices. Our group has signed an agreement with Sustainable Fisheries Partnership for the development of a Fisheries Improvement Plan incorporating all our operations. Quality and client service excellence is what our company strives to maintain across the board
