BumbleB2 ....They have cancelled the Himalayan race ....now going to Argentina ....
Taskmaster...That would make the Williams 54kWh battery extremely inefficient....the Formula E 54kWh battery races for 45mins plus 1 lap ...at the Monico E prix that is apprx 90 km ....do you know if the Odyssey 21 race car has regen ?....as i said in my last post ...more info needed.
Racing over 16km with a 54kWh battery will empty it pretty much. could recharge in 30min If they use 900v charging systems as in Formula E... that depends what the cars can accept... standard 480v 50kw will be at least twice as long.
What needs to be taken into account is the cars are allowed 1 charge per day ....the races are apprx 16 km long....so not much drain on the battery....the battery storage pack will charge the cars ....the fuel cell will keep the storage pack topped up ...AFC say they will supply 2MWh.....need more info really.
The EV charger is a fuel cell and batteries with the cars being charged from the batteries, not fuel cell direct. Perhaps the question should be how big are the batteries, not the fuel cell?
My guess is the cars will charge off 2 or 3 160kw units, as that’s probably the max AFC can currently supply per unit??
The races are short and the service area is the boat, so easy for each vehicle to stay topped up. Charging will take place throughout the night, cars swapping over.
Second batteries would be an option, but probably a lot of work to switch in and of the chassis, especially given the weight?
Southerhay, if that's the case where does the need for H2 fit in ? you would just charge the spare batteries directly from solar.
TwoCents. Could they have interchangeable batteries? So a bank of charged batteries available to slot in and out.
It would have to be bigger than 160kW I would have thought, and/or more than one. Extreme E will have 9 teams with each car having 54kWh batteries. Williams Advanced Engineering, who will provide the batteries, has boasted that the batteries they are providing for PURE ETCR can be charged in less than an hour. Therefore, if Extreme E is going to have the same or similar battery statistics, they will need a 54kW charging connection for EACH team to charge their cars in an hour. If they're all charging at once, you're going to need 54kW x 9 = 486kW. Unless you have a whopping storage battery as part of the charging system
My cod
I think you have missed an apostrophe from were.
I have forgotten more about AFC and hydrogen than you will ever know.
Delivery with 4 weeks at the latest
I do find it a bit odd that we are just weeks away from delivering a system to Extreme E yet we have no confirmation of its size ....DW suggested 160kW .... but provided no link to that....we were told very early about the Acciona system ...160kW ....we were told about the Julich system ...100kW ...but why no mention of the Extreme E system ?
There is an irony to misspelling incapable.
" due for completion before pre-season trials commence in December 2020.".....so that could be Monday then ?....thats certainly before pre-season trials commence in December .
Reported that n888, no need for that type of abuse
From the July 15th RNS ... " Contract reflects an initial one year agreement with a down-payment payable upon order, and subsequent payments recognised when equipment is made available reflecting the unique nature of this showcase series ".... look forward to that announcement....
Newboy you could be onto something there as you say -'Delivery of Extreme E's charging infrastructure is well underway and is due for completion before pre-season trials commence in December 2020.'
this also means for the first time in AFC's history they receive payment for delivering a commercial product.
Thinking positively, maybe they have a full launch strategy planned for December and don't want to give too much away!.
From the last RNS
'Delivery of Extreme E's charging infrastructure is well underway and is due for completion before pre-season trials commence in December 2020.
Adam Bond, Chief Executive Officer at AFC Energy, said "AFC Energy is proud to be partnering with Extreme E and today, welcomed the words of Championship CEO, Alejandro Agag and Lewis Hamilton, in highlighting the importance hydrogen will play in supporting the sustainable agenda of Extreme E's first 2021 racing season. We continue to work with Extreme E and other partners to see Hydrogen become an increasing enabler to a sustainable off-grid power industry as the world seeks to transition away from diesel as a precursor to delivery of Net Zero aspirations".
I find it all really weird to be honest, all these marketing opportunities through ExtremeE and Bond hasn't done one interview, NADA... Even the promo video in launch was 4 months old.. it's just really odd the lack of enthusiasm..
Couldn't update turn up yet? Assuming it doesn't contain anything that will massively move share price it shouldn't need done while markets closed.
'course even better if it will contain something that will massively move price and they just ran out of time to get it all finished up for this week. Couple days delay hopefully worth the wait.
BumbleB,
There is no reason why they can’t have a virtual investors day.
I however, perhaps naively, still think something is brewing and we will be in for a very pleasant, unexpected, surprise very soon.
But maybe that’s just wishful thinking!
So My Cod X
Which is it?
AFC has no orders because it doesn't have products ready to commercialise
or
AFC has no orders because it does but no one wants to buy them?
I don't count orders for trials or publicity projects, none of which are truly revenue generating at commercial levels.
We were told by Renoocks two years ago that we had the right product. If EV was not at launch status what the hell were we doing showing it off a year ago?
I note no market update so far today.
Yes, I'm sure AB has banked off plenty of profits, but he's also obviously spent money on R&D, otherwise we wouldn't have any products ready to commercialise.
Show us the Money AB -
Easily done look at his bank balance after 6yrs
I worry about you yellow, you don't exhibit normal behaviour, I think you need to talk to somebody.
