Ptach,
Just another stranger looking in, but felt i had to post.
When one door closes a bigger one opens. Don't do anything silly, which will be whole lot worse. Speak to your other half, i'm sure it will get better once you speak to hear, and as another posted said, tell her the results came in earlier for you to de risk.
I wish you well
Patch, from a female’s point of view, your wife will totally understand, she certainly would not want you to be feeling like you are, you need to get it off your chest, I lost 30k, my husband knew I was dabbling in shares but don’t that much money, I felt sick and like you, I didn’t know where to turn, the money I lost is towards a house, in the end I plucked up the courage and told him, his first reaction was disbelief, then anger but when he saw how upset I was and my intentions were only to try and make our lives more comfortable, none of us knew this was going to happen, it appeared to be a certain winner.
Please talk to your wife or someone face to face, don’t bottle it up, it will just eat away at you. You are hurting and you don’t want to hurt your wife, I understand that but I promise, she will understand, she might have ago at you, but that pain and hurt will be shared together.
Don’t leave it to fester.
Hi Patch - it might not be much consolation but honestly EVERYBODY loses big at least once and probably more than once. Nearly all the books I’ve read and/or professionals I’ve heard from have all spoken about how they have blown up accounts from heavy losses. It happens to us all and you’re most definitely not alone. I would echo the previous poster and suggest you talk it over with loved ones/friends. That will help. And you have many ‘friends’ on here as well so keep posting if that helps aswell. All the best for now.

Correct, Risk Management is paramount, the last time investors committed their pension pots was Sirius Minerals and they too lost everything.
Its the first days and weeks that are the hardest. When you get over them then ppl can dust themselves down and pick them selves up and look how are they going to improve the situation. Its a awful feeling but things will get better , they always do . Hope everyone just stays strong .I just read Patch' and Argys comments and thought would just write a message. Stay strong
Hello BB from a total stranger that has been quietly reading these past few days. Reminds me of my first investment, SXX. Need I say more other than hopefully there is some kind of saving grace like AA did buying out SXX. Anyway just commenting to say Patch13, Amc20 and anyone else feeling some dark thoughts. I've been there many times, spent quite some years in counselling over my 34 years of life so while it may be hard to do please do not bottle it all up, talk to someone you actually know. Face to face, get it off your chest. Admit to it. And for the love of god don't act on such feelings. You may have already taken such prudent action being capable people of course but I feel compelled just to put that out there.
Literally tears running down my cheek as I type lol. Breaks my heart to see anyone brought low. And seeing as Amc asked I will also respond, respectfully given I'm a BB stranger just trying to learn from this disaster.
BOIL. It holds what was once a majors Natural Gas asset. They hold it for historical issues regarding Timor Leste's do it all on island ideal which caused Shell to ditch a trillion if not more cubic feet of natural gas. Certainly not a get rich quick affair but a minnaw holds a majors asset and all it takes for BOILS MCAP to live up to the tickercode is for Timor Leste to allow monetisation of the assest. It also has a North Sea oil asset in Dun Rhobin and a Peruvian asset whose name escapes me but that is mired seemingly in Covid restrictions and naturally Scotland is not all that friendly these days to North Sea oil activity.
I flip burgers for a living so please do not think I'm just trying to get people into something for a quick bit of profit. I'm all about those micro cap plays combined with lots of patience so long as the BOD deserves it. With that said I recommend BOIL as one of those rare potential multibaggers in the 50 to a hundred range given current MCAP. That is if TL gov allow monitisation of the Chuditch NG fields and then a major buys or JVs with BOIL.
If you don't mind alleged mm shenanigans I'd recommend EUA for a further along PGM,battery metal and hydrogen play that has the scope for a solid special divi above current SP range or UFO for a more high risk high reward commodity focused play. DSO iron ore, the 21000g/ton silver Elizabeth Mines (mine shuttered during 2004 silver price collapse, company who owned happily swapped water filled mine for money and shares in UFO) and now PGMS via Munni Munni complex that had a 2004 jorc standard (so needs updating to 2012 standard) 78k oz Rhodium.
Dyor, of course and the very best of luck as well as good health to you all.
Wasnt this all predictable. they have no clarity on the oil reserve yet anyway, Carnarvon walking away is from a third party source, not official on the Carnarvon website. This is still in play.
Patch, its called Risk Management, you cant risk your pension pot on a binary stock.
Now-Or-Never
Very true your comments, we had the disaster of Advance several days ago and then today I learned my best friend and business associate is at end of life , so in my case the money is irrelevant, life is far more precious.
Hi, I am not invested here butjust read some of posts about folk losing money.I really feel your pain and from experience the next few days and weeks will be tough, but time is the best healer. Remember at end of the days only money and there will other opportunities to make money. You have one life and when that gone its gone. Dont despair there is always plenty to look forward to . One lesson I learnt in life is when you have a tribulation be grateful that its not alot worse . Keep postive there is always light in even the darkest tunnel. Some on here might be thoughts of ending it " suicide is permanent solution to a temporary problem " . This problem of losing money is temporary and things will get better it takes time to heel. Wishing you guys who have lost that you stay strong and recoup your losses .God bless
mcap was 10 times higher than this a few days ago crazy
Just read your post, to use your own words - soldier on. It’s happened but you have your wife to think about too. ADV will become a blip in the road in time. Talk of considering ending things is awful to hear - it causes untold pain and sadness far, far worse than losing money. Talk it through with people - your feelings will ease. Lots of opportunity out there if you still wish to invest money - but life and time is something you can’t gamble with. Don’t waste it. Take care
I once cashed in a football bet for 1k but would have won 35k if I had left it.To say I was sick was an understatement!
@Mordi, take a look at the build up to the drop,
I have no doubt Peterkin probably reads these BB comments and if he has a soul the misery he has created...
As for the gloaters, what goes around comes around.
You're certainly far from alone patch. Many of us made the same mistake and had the same strategy in mind.At the end of the day its only money and we all shuffle off this mortal coil regardless of our successes or failures. So just try and enjoy the present and treasure what time you have left. The pain will past mate
I guess your going to tell her eventually, would it be easier to say the result came earlier than expected, before you de-risked..
A white lie....
Thanks - and I know. But with my wife’s condition I also think alot about mortality and time left. We had talked about derisking prior to drill - indeed she thinks that’s what I will do….,but I saw an opportunity - an faiked
Patch
I feel you pain and sadness, but please stay strong and we all move on and forward together x
Patch13, just read your post..
Soldiering on is the way to go, and the right way...
Patch.
I know it feels like the end of the world. But ending anything is the last thing to think of. Everything is temporary. Wins and losses. Its already rock bottom price, leave your shares for 6 months, if something happens with this drill great, if not hopefully news will come of other projects. Even hold tight until price goes up slightly.
Working on is far from ideal but working on is still better than not being here to sèe family members thrive in ways other than financial. Birthdays celebrated, new relationships, trips to see friends or even just waiting a matter of weeks till the better weather cones and you can go for a walk in the sun. There's so much more to loose than lifestyle and financial security .
Beginning if December till the end of January is a rubbish ttime for bad news of any kind but stick with it. It's temporary.
Given that a quick check shows that HE1 plummeted 21% today, that sounds like making the same mistake twice.
FWIW: Reckon there's a parallel here with CEG (Challenger Energy) which dropped from about 30p to under a penny on bad news and stayed there. Move on....
One option which may be interesting is KAV (Kavango Resources) - again high risk but multiple shots at something good.
Legalwolf... If only I'd known your story before..
I too had a plan on offloading before results but got sold on this very cunning CEO's language.. My third duster and last in a oil share.
I should at it’s all my fault but do feel duped. The should have sounded a more cautionary note.
It’s very lonely
@ argylltraveller, you asked about at tip...
There are a few here invested in HE1, its worth a look at least
