The minus $ payment was because it was cheaper to have the tanker dock and off load rather than being paid to sit doing nothing!
A financial business decision, no more no less
Brom, I can't find your message regarding the 41 day period, but i thinks that's probably the most factual post on here regarding the permit...
12:33 How do you know that permit is due "weekend Sunday night" ?
1- Appraisal well NOT exploratory
2- 9.5 billion shares tightly held
3- North Slope Alaska has +++ good oil
4-Merlin-2 targeting 652 million barrels of oil(1,2) in the highly prospective N18, N19 and N20 targets that were encountered in the successful Merlin-1 well (drilled in March 2021 to a depth of 5,267 feet). Merlin-1 demonstrated the presence of oil in these multiple stacked sequences within the Brookian Nanushuk Formation.
5- Traded in Australia, UK, USA, Germany
6-Undervalued considering target prize.
7- Oil price 2020 March/ April was -$37 per barrel, now +$80 a barrel.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic hammered the oil industry in 2020, forcing U.S. oil prices to go negative for the first time on record. In a matter of hours on April 20, the May 2020 contract futures price for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) plummeted from $18 a barrel to around -$37 a barrel.
Where money is concerned there wont be much time n effort involved.
I believe HL dont lend out shares..
You should be aware that the share price isn't directly linked between exchanges though. Aus may go down and we may rise - it all depends on the buying & selling on each respective market.
But the sentiment can certainly influence that buying & selling on each market.
@rfarfa - no doubt that there will be some PIs with substantial holdings but generally it's not worth the time nor effort of the High St brokers or banks to do it.
12.36 - I hope I'm wrong but historically the permit make little difference to the SP and there will always be those that derisk when the drill bit starts to turn. Just managing my expectations.
I'm in for the long run and what'll be will be, ignore the noise in between
Agreed - permit next week 3p+ then onto drill results could we really be 4+p?

I've raised questions about HL in this regard!
Your post is interesting from my perspective I do hold enough shares to stand out in any shares holding scan, have history of never selling. Obviously have Omar Sharif syndrome!
It's mainly the big institutions that loan shares out for shorting.
None of the 'High Street' brokers will do it - it's not worth their time and effort to trawl through the relatively small holdings of PIs.

"If you dont want your shares to be loaned out to be shorted put a stupid sell order in of say £100 and it will limit shorters."
According to HL they do NOT loan out shares to shorters (at least those held in nominee accounts - Rule A25 from memory.
"Share certificates (where appropriate) will be held in HLAM’s safe. We may be required to give your details and details of
your shareholding to Companies House, the relevant company’s registrars, or the company itself (or its authorised
representative). Investments will not be lent to a third party and we will not borrow money against your investments."

@odddad.. It will depend on your broker.
If you buy 88E at say 2p and have a sell limit order on at 10p and price gaps open due to the mother of all RNAs and opens at say 20p your broker may hold you to your 10p sell order. (some brokers do guarantee orders) Another broker may sell at best available which could be nearer the 20p. Ive experienced both scenarios.
If you dont want your shares to be loaned out to be shorted put a stupid sell order in of say £100 and it will limit shorters.
10.23 - It won't get executed. The world isn't a fair place

Your comment on stops limits prompts me this morning to think about something I have thought about often.
I got caught out on setting a stop loss on 88e in 2017 or 2018, cant remember which. I got nothing like my Stop/Loss figure.
That said, the SP continued to fall, and I bought in at a lower level, so the immediate pain was mitigated a little.
What's happens in the other direction when the SP is rising? If a sale is set on a limit, but the SP rises beyond whatever SP price has been set, what is a seller likely to get?
Do you think the greater population new it's been OTCQB since Wednesday? I'm not sure they did . Im on twitter and it's only been twittered now ?
09:45
Been OTCQB since Wednesday so should be no impact in terms of share access or trading based on today's announcement.
Think many were expecting this shake, this latest RNS was a great opportunity for MM's to make it happen - hang in there....
Lets see what happens when the USA wakes up this afternoon and have easy access to buy EEENF
LSEtraderUK - Thu 08:02
I won't be surprised if the MM's start playing games again, to support the new EEENF interest, remember last year?
As we float around 2p or other key markers, be careful what Stop limits you set.....quick scan of last years BB and you'll see, plenty got caught out last year....
