Came 2nd by a whisker this year to HICL in the infra awards. I am fine with that. Lots ofpotential and thesemanagers know what they are doing. So far held for 15 years and no reason to do otherwise!

Hi oldbutnowisa,
If you are holding cash in your isa, try CSH2, overnight bank rate ETF paying around 5%

Just sold this and another IT long held, to keep the cash in my Fidelity ISA earning a modest interest. After mulling over this 'tishey' market and the distinct possibility of an election fairly soon and all the aggro in US, Russia and China, I concluded that the argument for holding at least 10% of p/f in cash was just too strong.
This IT has ticked all the savers' boxes for over a decade and I have been happy to hold ever since near day 1.

From UK tax site
https://www.gov.uk/apply-tax-free-interest-on-savings
It reduces taxes on the company and you can use the £5,000 starter savings tax allowance. If you go over your £12,570 tax allowance it reduces your £5,000 starter savings tax allowance proportionally.
The allowance covers everything paid as interest.
Investment trusts which stream interest as dividends.
Bonds
P2P
Savings accounts
And OEIC which pay dividends as interest? Not sure how they can do that as most assets where you can do that are illiquid.
Hi Tom78 and Bobsto12,
This, I believe, is what is called the "interest-streaming regime", and it seems to be something that several infrastructure ITs do, including some I have shares in. Look at "ORIT" as another example.
I imagine that it won't be done for the benefit of individual shareholders (every person's circumstances of course being different) but for the benefit of the company (and thereby for the benefit of its shareholders as a whole).
If the shares are held in an ISA, I may be wrong, but I think that the difference and designation in practical terms would be purely academic. If they're not held in a tax-free wrapper, then of course the difference may have tax implications for the individual.
ATB, Mike.
I noticed this and HICL started declaring some of the dividend payments as interest a few years ago. I assumed it was so holders could declare the some of the payment as interest to make it more tax efficient if their dividend allowance has been reached. I'm not completely sure though.
On enquiring why my recent dividend hadn't been reinvested by II it seems most of the latest dividend has been designated as "interest". Seems bizarre to receive interest when you don't have any debt issued by a company.

Those who took part in the placing are now down over 7%
Been in this almost since the start. Put under your pillow and sleep tight. Theyare here for the loooooong term and know what they are doing,
Green energy revolution
I like in these company RNS how they say they are ‘pleased’ to announce you are having your holding diluted. I was certainly not pleased to read it.
As the proceeds of the placing are being used to generate growth in earnings via investments and reducing debt I am sure it will prove beneficial.
The share price is down because it might dilute existing earnings per share initially but I think think its a misguided reaction.

Hi Pursestrings. Got to be careful now because higher interst rates are not likely to benefit stocks like this, which give safe but not spectacular divis. I am just staying put and expect the SP to fall so making the yield more attractive to buyers. I might THEN sell something else to go heavy on these!
Nope I'm with you. Cant make my mind whether to top up. Certainly not selling
only me on here for last 6 months!
Just looked at my comment 6 months ago and still applies. an't say that for much else in the p/f!!

today lovely. One of the only ones in PF that I have not got out of or trimmed in this **** market. Only insolvency practicioners stand a good chance of coining it now so I have bought into Manolete Partners (in spite of their prohibitive turn!)

Latest announcent that it is buying out its partner to take 100% of ESVAGT adds to 31N's renewables credentials, So glad I have only ever added to my holding here. Wish I had made such good decisions on some of my others!
Ex-div today 5.225p per share paid on 10th Jan 2022 in case any one missed it.
Foolishly I trimmed a few from my PF at 308p as it has grown so large over the years, this was the signal for the recent 10% climb!
...very nice now. Strongly suspect instiitutions are grabbing now for the inflation-proofing built into their contrtacts.
I still believe interest rates will be 5% this time next year so my big holding here is staying put for now.

...as solid as ever. Cornerstone of long term portfolio with enough index-linking in the underlying contracts to keep abreast of inflation. Cannot see any reason at all not to hold.

RNS today. Definitely a wise move IMO. A bit lacklustre and not on trend with seeking clean energy infra. Hope we don't have to take a loss but in the big scheme of things.....

That’s exactly what I have done with my funds bought infrastructure and inflation linked gilts etc.
Also added a footsie 100 tracker. Will be buying here soon . At least my shares should be ok gsk AstraZeneca Unilever. I am sure they will again say the inflation rate has gone up but give low figure to what’s real.
Steady as she goes and been adding regularly. Divi on the way next month as well.
Oddly enough, I bought T44 gilts last June in anticipation of inflation. Timing wrong, but decision correct (probably)
New high ground. I have made major changes in portfolio to insure against inflation which I believe will be the next world bogeyman. Could it be the reason why this is in high ground? All infrastructure contracts have index-linking built into their contracts, Incidentally, I have also bought a large chunk of TIPS, topped up Vanguard's Target Retirement Fund (which holds a good deal of i/l gilts) and added to a resources IT holding. Not exciting but may prove right in next 18mths.
Sold a few Unilever this morning for a very small profit and bought here as it’s a steady share to have in a choppy market and will get the div. :-).

If Abu Dhabi sovereign fund investors bung a few shekels here, it might help the share price. I hope too that there will be some individual winning companies such as AFC in which I have interest to benefit from this news.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56496888
The Chancellor in todays budget made reference to infrastrusture and green bond - I didn't count how many but suspect it was well over 30 - hopefully will translate to renewed interest in this (and other) Investment Trust
Biggish drop today for 3IN and since the start of the year down about 7%. I suppose it was always likely to deflate a bit, but had a few today at 284.
The valuation of assets if buying, selling or holding can be stated in 3 totally different ways. All plausible.
... very conservatively valued here for at least two reasons:
(1) all assets are Tier 3 i.e unquoted and
(2) useful to keep valuation down so when /if assets eventually sold it creates serious capital gain which is good for share price going forward.
Holding these long term has been tremendous (OVER A DECADE)and if I was stupid enough to sell, what would I do with the proceeds? stick them in the bank and get 0.1%?
