Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange SA, Telefónica SA and Vodafone Group Plc are to form a joint venture for the implementation of a privacy-by-design digital marketing technology platform in Europe that could benefit consumers, advertisers and publishers alike.
The creation of this new entity has been approved today by the European Commission, pursuant to the European Union Merger Regulation.
The four companies will take equal 25% stakes in a newly-formed joint venture holding company, to be based in Belgium and run by independent management under the oversight of a shareholder-appointed supervisory board.
The joint venture will outline its vision and strategy in due course, including its plans for adopting the trial technology commercially.

'telecoms price rises'
Interesting to see what they come up with.
Less than 9 or 10% and it will look like telcos are subsidising other markets like google, netflix, microsoft et al

'An RNS needed'
Fleccy, yes you did challenge it and the latest article seems to confirm that. But the Gov did say the conversion to equity was underpinned by Aditya's commitment to fund [5G], hence the 'red herring' that VODs % reduced in compensation. However, the figures do look to have been transposed. Perhaps the articles are flip flopping between aspiration and legal requirement, hence no RNS yet.
I saw that article and could only assume the author is intentionally expressing a vested interest negative view. He talks about returns on investment, but just because their stock prices are low now, it doesn't mean they wont recover in the future. The article's correct that Telecom stocks currently underperform the broader index's over time, but much depends on when an investor jumps into the stocks and the trajectory of price recovery.
What the author fails to mention is that Telecom companies supply essential network services, which all the so called "High Growth" Tech Giants are totally dependent on to provide their services. As far as big tech's concerned, which I suspect the author is a fan of, it appears they're being lined up to feel regulatory wrath throughout the World, you can see the start with Meta told to sell Giphy and the CMA raising barriers to the Microsoft Activision deal. Also various regulators are looking at the amount of bandwidth big tech utilises, and looking at ways to somehow make them them pay for their excessive bandwidth requirements. As the author said, Telecoms is already highly regulated, it seems regulatory focus is moving off Telecoms and onto the Tech Giants.
How much more buyback left should be over soon in few weeks?
"An RNS needed. This article puts the shareholdings in VOD favour over Aditya vs articles yesterday."
The article linked to today is most likely correct, I did point out, on Monday at 13:58, that the previous articles may have got it the wrong way around; It appears the previous article really ****ed up the figures.
This paragraph, from the most recent article, explains it well:
"Vi’s co-promoters, UK's Vodafone Plc and India's Aditya Birla Group, will own 31.7% and 18.2% respectively in Vi, post allotment of shares to the government, taking their combined stake to around 50%. At present, UK’s Vodafone and ABG own 47.61% and 27.38% respectively in Vi."
Hi Dan, not sure what's making a killing at the moment, but for myself my Aviva shares are doing well lgen are in profit but definitely could be doing a lot better, Lloyds are in profit after years of being in the red and seem to be improving and all of my funds are making gains, my two biggest under performers right now are dlg and vod, don't get me wrong i am well aware everything can change in an instant like my dlg shares they were back in profit then out comes some more bad news and down she goes again, some others on here will know what I'm saying there, not suggesting anyone should sell any vod shares at this current low price, but unless you have a good reason to think it's going to get a good report/boost anytime soon i would tread with caution with it, for how many years now have we heard this being called under valued ?
you know i wish you well and hope this is back up over a £1 very soon so will keep my fingers crossed for that
best of luck mate
Thanks rob. The answer is averaging down. Could be a mistake, but I think vod are undervalued, but i don't know, I won't decide until the new tax year, & I will sell some non I.S.A.shares after buying more I.S.A. shares. As for better options, you may be right, but I will stick the devil you know. What share are making a killing on at the moment?
Dan, If you are already heavily invested here, why would you want to invest more ?, this has not made any improvement in the last 6 years, that might change of course, but do you have any valid reason to think this is going to get a big boost any time soon, as i haven't seen any positive reports come through yet and this is a very competitive market, not about being negative or positive mate, but just feel there are better options out there, but saying that i will be very pleased if it does start flying, I'm sure there are plenty here that disagree with me, so will be interesting to hear your reasons ?
but best of luck all, we are all hoping to get a good return here but it's a bit like trying to get blood from a stone at the moment
If they threaten to not buy any more bonds, the company listens.
