Hi Dan/Gerry, I think that at the moment the towers get them next to nothing, but sell them to their own company, albeit where they only get a share of the profit, add that to the sale price and I think that will keep the divi at it’s current value and give them some decent cash to bring debt levels down. Hence share holders much happier. And of course us newly promoted board members can command a much healthier salary. No brainer all IMO of course
Gerry, I think the tower sale may be good if preferential treatment is given to vod shareholders. As to why sell a profitable business, good question. I think it is thought that as a separate company, the tower business will be run more profitable. You might need to ask Nick that one. I think we 3, as the new B.O.D. will need to learn about these things? Twist me a melon man!
The next divi is due end of Jan 2020, but hasn't been announced yet. Probably about 3 cents. Ex divi Nov.?
Does anyone know the dividend amount per share for next November?
Dan sounds like you are all revved up with no place to go. Only one thing to say on a happy Monday .... Step on!
Half your pay! thats far too much. We dont want to get labeled as gold diggers. No, some free share ought to do the trick.
Not sure about the towers thing, what if they make a different tech that doesn't need them. If somethings so good why sell?
OK they need some cash but still. Vod starting off the week/day in the green but doesn't something happen late afternoon?
Might have to do some more research into towers now you lot have got me thinking. Still I like steady eddies ........ which I thought this was.
Hi Newbie, I am also hoping for the chance to buy shares in the towers if it is floated.
Gerry/Dan, since I’m on the board I’d like to propose Dan to be elected as a non exec on half my pay. :-)))). Not really Dan you’re worth more than that I’m sure. I stopped moaning yonks ago, I’m just pleased I got some funds at the right time to be able to average down otherwise I’d be stuck like an awful lot of other people. Now I’m trying to get some funds ready for the new tower company, I think they will be be a good income share to have in my portfolio of 5 shares :-)))). Good luck to ya both
Gerry..I might have voted for you, if you had invited me on your little yacht. Shame about the 4 out of 5, I couldn't wait to gloat to you know who. Still I'm 2 up on meatloaf's 2 out of 3 ain't bad. So is it going to be Happy Monday, or moan'y Monday? Vote GerryNewbie.
Newbie642, I'll give you a seat on the board then.
Dan, only Newbie642 is allowed to vote .... so yep I win! You even lost the 5 days in a row bet. Have you got a £167m lottery ticket. I wouldnt bet on that either. Your better of with me and Newbie
Gerrymander557. I'm sure you could rig the vote in your favour one way or another! I think I will stick with Nick.
Ha ha, you’ve got my vote Gerry :-)))
Dan, I think I could do better than Nick Read. The only problem is the money. You will all start calling me a "fat cat" and he's "screwing the small share holders. etc.
Id cull the divi, buy a company yacht (I need to be seen to be trying to be green) use the company jet less and get us taken over. Id also introduce a Brexit phone deal and a remain one thereby scooping up both sides for sales. Might even select a few good causes to help too. Dont worry Ill sell a few of my discounted pay scheme shares to cover my missing divi until my guaranteed bonus kick in
Still Ill give you mates rates and top insider tips whilst your chucking up over the side of the boat. Its not all plain sailing being a CEO !
We all live in a world, were we all think company directors are screwing us, lets get real. They are not running a charity, & do it for a living, to make money for there company & for themselves. (maybe not in that order). Just except that, or don't invest in this corrupt (according to you lot) stock market. Just forget all this moaning crap, & move on. I think nick is doing a great job & the vod sp will get back to the high's predicted by the optimistic brokers, (I hope) !!!!! Anybody who thinks they can do a better job than Nick Read, please apply , at , I wan't an easy money job at vodafone.co.uk. Nick Read is far better at running vodafone than all the cynical posters on this chat put together.
Hi Dan,
'I think Nick is doing a good job now'
The financial planning seems to be falling into place despite the clunky nature of the capital refinancing...
I guess H1 reporting will be focussed on the integration activity and it will be interesting to hear what integration capital is required over and above …
Customer metrics will be important and revenue per customer growing would be good for the trajectory imo
Nick was the CFO but is now the CEO, so I guess a little more of the CEO profile and vision required. I think he has time given the scale of the integration work
Another blue finish, Slowly, slowly, catch the monkey?! Well I'm up a monkey today, only another 150 or so to go, to get back to the vod high's. I think Nick is doing a good job now, anybody agree?, after all, many were very quick to complain when it was going tits up. S.P. from 1.23, to today's price, has to be good, surely??
Thanks Gerry, things are far better for me now than when the sp was 1.23, but still a fair way for the sp to go before I am making any serious profit, but I think vod can do it. As for my honesty, thank you, as to pretend you are doing better than you really are on a share chat, makes no sense to me, as does constantly complaining. Of course to sell high, & buy low, is a no brainer, but I don't think it is easy. Perhaps I should seek advise from Last Call?!
Dan, "Sell low buy high." Not sure that was the saying. Still your honesty shows you are real unlike some who's history is always positive and always make a profit selling at top and buying at lows after the fact.
Dont spend much time on ADVFN dont like the site. Yep you have to hold your nerve at times when the market takes a dip, often the time to be buying not selling. Anyway hope you havn't costed yourself too much and that in time both divis and value will take up the slack
I would love to. It's in the charts but feel it'll be kept back. The only way to make 167 is for me to sell at 160 - sure you get my drift?
Mandrill, you couldn’t make that 167 so I could break even for the first time in years could you? :-)))
As I said recently I think the market will keep this at 160p for a while.
I lust hope Last call doesn't read (no pun)your post, otherwise the lunatics may well take over the asylum. See ADVFN. if you want a laugh. You should have bought at 1.23, unlike me who sold some at that price (what a plonker, lost my nerve) (me that is). But I bought them all back, plus more later, but at a higher price. I never know if to take your cynical views seriously though, but keep them coming all the same. Should I Read between the lines?(pun intended).
Dont repeat this out loud but maybe Nick scuppered the SP on purpose to achieve cheaper things and better leverage for the deal. It was all part of the master plan but he had to keep stum and couldnt tell anyone except he opened an account in the name of last call to hint to us all.
Personally Im disappointed cos my 120p buy order wasnt filled.
Will he have another go?
Anybody who bought vod, or has followed the sp since 16/july when the sp was 1.26, must be baffled by the negative comments on this share chat? At least we don't get the," sack Nick read" nonsense now, but had they sacked him in July, I think we would be in trouble now. Of course the vod sp had a terrible time before the recovery, but that is history, so lets talk about the future. Any positive comments? or have you all jumped ship by now?
Not a bad finish, up .44 with the ftse down. If it went up .44 every day, we would do very well in the long run.
