Sadly down the drain. As long as the Bod were rewarded for incompetence , that's all that matters.
Pasty, I agree, my motor failed the mot the other day, definitely down to brexit.
.. Well, it certainly hasn't helped!
Brexiteers are blind when it comes to the disaster that Brexit has caused.
Don't think the weak £ has done TC any favours.. And what caused that?
bigwod .... errr are you not aware that UK GOV are flying everybody back and paying for the rest of their holidays????
even those who did not pay ATOL???
Governments very happy to take the Air passenger duty from every flyer since 1994, made a very nice small fortune from Thomas cook, quick to take but don't want to give a bit back.
what happens to theTC hotels
Seems like fosun will pay little for it when it is liquidated why pay mega millions when can get so cheap
...some of TC's other subsidiaries than UK still trading and also planes are flying? :-o

Current BOD were clueless though even though bad decisions made earlier, not closing stores, investing in building hotels and still printing brochures????
600 high street shops....look on the bright side..must be worth a few bob, hopefully can be sold by liquidators to offset debts.
I agree with the latest posts on this thread. The government could not put in £200m and solve the problem. In 6 month it would have to again, and again, and again. When confidence has gone in a business selling a long lead time product then the business is dead. Far better to put money in Sirius which at least has a viable future and will provide employment, proper jobs, in an area where it is desperately needed. I am NOT a SXX shareholder by the way
600 high st shops........says it all really
We're either a capitalist economy or we're not.
I don't want my taxes wasted propping up a failing, poorly run, business.
When does it end?
Jessica's Flower stall is about to go bust, so the Gov steps into save it. I don't think so.
PF is a joke, now adding UK taxpayer to the list of shareholders, Customers, Suppliers etc that have already been shafted
lets see what Leadsoms investigation reveals
Load of tosh sir, the 200m was just to keep the lights on today, much larger cash calls req later on. Business just wasn’t profitable..no money left, gov should not bail out failed firms just because they can. Money has to come from somewhere, and most pay enough taxes already. Not nice but the hard truth.
"Am I missing something here?"
Yes. A brain
Pearls yes you are , the business was not sustainable, how many times now have they begged for more money , UK GOV knew that they would be asked for another £200m and another and another
Plus the taxpayer is not there to bailout private companies
if you want security of jobs etc vote Corbyn
As a lender of last resort the UK Government failed to support this business in its hour of need. The £200m could have saved it from liquidation, now instead they have to pay for all the repatriation costs, plus redundancy costs of the 9000 staff, plus associated costs; meanwhile it is the governments own majority owned bank that requested the extra funding in the first place!
Am I missing something here?
T
Tui have risen 10% this morning!
Yep PF and BOD buck stops there , government did the right thing £600m was BS figure more like £100m
Redundancy will be statutory not enhanced which is normally paid if you get made redundant while business continues
I see quite a few T/C jobs being saved/transfered the capacity is still there the slots and planes will be sold and fosun may still do something but S/H will get nothing Banks and BondHolders get first Dibs...
Quite right quisty. Pointless coming on a share trading bb to tell everyone to spare thoughts. Its patronisising and blatant virtue signalling.
Frank - the sh8thead didn't even apologise to shareholders - says it all really !!!
NO HE DID NOT, DID HE! Well sent him an email to thank him fir steering the company from £1.50 to zero, before his account was blocked/shut down
spbhoy are you going to do anything to help these employees or just put out some bland statement online about how sorry you are, imagine if we all did that
be bloody boring reading
