Pretty harsh AgArCu...
"The United States and Ecuador had total two-way goods trade of $13.17 billion in 2021"

"According to Chinese statistics, in 2022, bilateral trade between China and Ecuador reached US$13.08 billion"
(From the Silk Road article below...)
"“While the Biden administration continues to assert that the US is the ‘partner of choice’ for Ecuador and other Latin American countries, governments and civil society in the region bemoan the lack of American-led, and other Western alternatives, to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) current and future investments,”
“I urge you to work with the Ecuadorian government to identify strategic sectors of the Ecuadorian economy, such as telecommunications, infrastructure, energy, and MINING, so that Ecuador has options, other than CCP-backed entities, for investment in these areas.”

since 2017. Much of this cooperation has been on the condition that Ecuador limit its ties with China. "

And theres plenty more...
Agreed DM was thinking the same especially with the merger due to complete in the week prior to PDAC
I think calling it a 'thought' is generous. No thinking went on there.
Just a thought that's all ,the world is forever changing you know
Culturally not on their doorstep at all. Are you suggesting that the Biden administration would seek to politically frustrate a private TO bid from a foreign pseudo state-owned company in a third party foreign jurisdictions? I realise you want to hype this, bubble, but even by the standards of this board that is ridiculous.
Just engage brain a second- how would 'the Yanks' prevent a Chinese lead takeover of Solgold or purchase of Cascabel?
Botoga, would the yanks want this to go to the Chinese when it's on their doorstep ?,watch this space!!
Bozi, I agree with all of that.
Add - I will.
But as soon as merger completes I want company strategy both published and executed in a significant way.
I also want comms with shareholders and the market to be appropriate and of high quality.
Finally I want SolGold to take every opportunity to get back out there, fully explain to the market why they are taking the decisions they are, the upside to the merger, etc.
We've (all) become very polarised in our SOLG opinions insofar as bid vs spin out vs JV vs production. For me, I want it said that if SOLG doesn't deliver in a way the majority are looking for in 2023 then it doesn't lack for effort and application.
To add a few at this level, imo bring down my average quite significantly
GLA LTH just got to have plenty of patience
It's ADVFN that's down...
Is it in auction at the open?
Bozi, of course, we won't know the answer to that until the issue arises...if it ever does. And I absolutely agree with you that the jury's out until they deliver.
I suppose the difference between us is that I'm more prepared than you to give them the benefit of the doubt than you and feel it's still too early to judge them.
Will you feel happier once the merger is completed?
Addicknt - a question for you
Do you think the company washing it's dirty linen in public will directly result in more investment in the business in 2023?
If it doesn't then the practice was completely unnecessary.
Better actions are the only real way to show a corner has been turned in performance. Words are empty unless they are backed up by action.
Some were plain in their criticism of the Cazzubbo appointment.
Some were frank in their criticism of the failed fundraise.
Some were honest in their assessment of Mather and his role in the previous offer for Cornerstone.
But for me, I'm only interested in a corporate office bemoaning the non-performance of a previous corporate office when they have delivered themselves.
As DM and Fort quite rightly pointed out, the records of Caldwell, Maxit, Sangha, Chamandy, MacDonald are there for all to see and they are no great shakes.
It's completely acceptable in my view for the jury to be out on these guys.
Let's see when the merger completes if they can offer anything to change my mind.
Add ….. I think it’ll be a clean sale . I’d love a chance to stay invested in some of the other licenses and a div for Cascabel
Thanks for the replies.
On balance, it seems more people feel, to a greater or lesser extent, more positive. There were some interesting reasons given by those who feel less optimistic, although I struggled to see how some of those observations are serious enough to warrant pessimism. It's also apparent that some people don't agree with washing our dirty linen in public, whereas others think it was long overdue. The one thing I do know is that it's a common management practice and places an even greater degree of pressure on a new team to deliver, which is no bad thing.
The next few months are going to be fascinating and critical.
Btw, I think it was either Bozi or DM who suggested it's looking as if we're heading towards the asset spin-off and, in due course, sale of Cascabel. I feel the same way.
letskl ink arms and skip down the path , jolly oh.
Very big month for solgold march then
https://www.silkroadbriefing.com/news/2023/02/08/china-ecuador-free-trade-agreement-moves-closer/
Early March merger due to complete. FTA final signature by mid March?
Bogota that's massive news just waiting on signing off on a few things by looks of things ,mining mentioned no wonder Asia big boys looking at solgold assets , free trade export ,throw a few doubters here lol
