You are so right. None of us will ever see a share price performance to compare with what we are abut to see here in the next 12 months. Never in 36 years of investing have I ever seen such a gift as this one. If anyone thinks they will ever see an opportunity like this again during their lifetime then they are delusional.
Good title, Google are a bunch of A Holes. And from my personal experience RR are the biggest bunch of A holes.
I agree until we get the green light this might be the next Amazon, Google let's hope for the best
One of the things I’m trying very hard to do is to always set a target to realise some profit on every investment - no matter what. I have a target for SNG which will see me taking 25% of my investment out. I feel it in my bones that that money could and should make me more if I leave it here but you cannot ever be certain. I will stick 2 fingers up at hindsight and focus on what I did achieve. I will have taken some profit and will leave the rest to fate and hopefully a bigger reward after P3.
I am very very clear that 3/4 of my current investment is going to go the distance and I have decided what that distance is.
Deciding when it’s time to take profit is I think the hardest part of investing. I’m going to give myself a pat on the back for sticking this out for the best part of 2 years and realising some reward.
I’ve branched out a bit but I have always kept a good number of SNG. I’ve not posted that much because it was starting to feel like Groundhog Day in here. There’s only so much research you can take :-) I do look in though. Fortunately I put some more back in at about 1.50 and bought again at 1.65. All said and done though if I’d just left it all in SNG I’d be better off now, but that is so hard.
"Dactions how can you say that we will never see a share like this in your lifetime we have not got approval yet and even if we do there will always be plenty more"
sparkboy - maybe I'm getting too old or you're too young, but in all my active sharedealing years, I've never seen a share like this:
1) this LSE bulletin board, despite some of the juvenile twaddle, has been incredibly insightful - I've learned stuff I never knew could have existed, and
2) if you'd seen RM at some of the many presentations in earlier years - someone flagged one up from 2016 the other day where I was in the audience - you'd have realised you were being presented with a possible 'Google' or 'Amazon' 'Tesla' opportunity providing it of course came up with the results, and
3) the impact that a pandemic (how many of them will you see in your lifetime ?) could have given this treatment that had been struggling over 13 years to make any worthwhile impact in drug trials, but repurposed as a Covid drug is now almost at the finishing line, and
4) the fact that the pandemic is far, far from over means SNG is a powder key just waiting to explode with even more intensity than could have been imagined when it was just for asthma or even COPD.
That's why sparkyboy - sit back and watch - good luck everyone.
Hi Oil. You have done well to sit through that.
Thanks Dactions and everyone for the advice .Im out of the ‘kicking myself’ phase now ( I think), funny how you can be comfortable with the decisions when you make them and the rationale behind them then turn immediately to the ‘ What a ******* idiot I am and what the **** was I thinking !!!! Anyway the basic truth is that I have been adding as much as I can for 18 months and the first mistake I made was the one time I traded so not to be repeated! Don’t worry I’ll be back off the canvass like Tyson Fury in the 1st Wilder fight !!!! Back in the mix and good luck to everyone!!!!!
gobbledegook what are you trying to say?
Dactions how can you say that we will never see a share like this in your lifetime we have not got approval yet and even if we do there will always be plenty more
I haven't sold any, even when they reached 246p last time (had an idea to sell at 250, obviously like a lot of people..) and fine now but could've gone badly wrong. Average inside my ISA is 50p, but more outside having bought at 165p this week.
Not wanting to be greedy I've been pondering selling a few. But with news on phase 3 Sprinter not expected till early 2022, I can't see a particular rush at the moment. Am I missing anything? And with RM saying they need 'a fire to put out' the hospital results should be 'ok' at very least.
Be annoying to finally sell the one time that greed was the right thing to do.
I originally bought in at 130p and have topped up that many times I’ve lost count. Most recent top ups were at 145p following Dr Castro’s last little hint, and then at 171p following the announcement of progression to phase 3 on Activ. I just thought they should have moved to at least £2 due to a big positive shift in the risk/reward ratio.
After the move yesterday, they now account for 20% of my overall portfolio. That is breaking my own rules on single stock exposure but my portfolio is growing rapidly due to extra disposable income to put into my investments on a monthly basis and I have conviction that this is a good stock with great prospects.
I’ve never had a true multi bagger (10x +) and would be over the moon if it was SNG who seem a great bunch and is also a company trying to do good things.
The inpatient will pass wealth to the patient.
this stock Is to vollotil to gamble
Malc - I wouldn't beat yourself up on early selling - even investors with more experience do the same but just don't declare it.
I know that Warren Buffet is quoted as saying:
"Never lose money. Stay rational and stick to your homework when researching businesses in which to invest." and also, "Never invest in a business you cannot understand"
. . . so you presumably haven't lost money, only the chance to have made more money. The beauty of this bulletin board though is most members have contributed insights - some admittedly small but it does mean the other quote above doesn't apply here as we do understand this business and all of us know what's riding on the pIII results.
It's unlikely you'll ever see another share opportunity quite like this of SNG . . . in your lifetime !
Just about everyone on this board, including myself, will be wondering whether to sell out ahead of the results if the sp continues upward towards 250p never mind about even larger steps especially if they've accumulated large holdings. You will though make very, very real money if pIII Sprinter results are as good as we all think they will be . . . but only if you sit tight and do absolutely nothing despite all the ups and downs we can expect the sp to take.
It's easy for me to write these words of wisdom - but by god it's hard to follow them - good luck Malc and everyone.
Much the same advice from Jesse Livermore. “After spending many years in Wall Street and after making and losing millions of dollars I want to tell you this: It never was my thinking that made the big money for me. It always was my sitting. Got that? My sitting tight!”
Given that these sages of the stock-market had careers of making and losing millions on a regular basis, you have to wonder what the point was.
Ahh, not great. I done that at 125p recently, sold a lot, then thought I made a mistake so bought back at 128 luckily enough and lost about 1500 shares, so decided to sit right and not trade for a while.
I sold 40% thinking the sp would hover and get suppressed over the next few weeks and that it would be an opportunity to gain a few shares by buying back on any dips but (even as I’m typing this I can hear myself saying greedy )!! With hindsight I’m neither experienced or knowledgeable enough to dabble like that. Any road up what’s done is done. I will come back in soon with my tail between my legs and hopefully in time the significance of my error will be diluted down.
What percentage of your shares did you sell malc?
I know!! Too clever for my own good !! Lesson learned (painfully).Been Holder for 18 months and having great faith in Richard and co I have never traded this share before, just got ants in my pants and paid the price.Maybe it’s gods way of telling me to sit still and keep the faith !!
Follow Warren Buffett you get rich by staying put not trading.
Had a strategy if we progressed into A2 P3 that we may go thru retrace period until Sprinter news so sold some after disappointing response in sp and not expecting such a significant rise in last couple of days got caught out !! Still plan to come back in over next few months but missed out over last few days. Schoolboy error or bad luck ?? Who knows? Hopefully now I’ve learnt to sit on my hands and stop rolling the dice for a while!!
