Greggs: the only share where ‘top slicing’ is a really bad idea! Ha ha!
hi,
Thank you for the updates folks, fYI
I asked for an update from my MP about my original request., but similar response ie wait till MH office responds,
I sold my Greggs shares as I don't think sausage rolls are on the RECOVERY program, however I did buy some SNG with the proceeds:)
Tim45... what a generic, unhelpful, dismissive reply from the gov. Christ!
No reply from my MP (wrote to him twice) but after two emails addressed to Matt Han****, this response today. How can they use so many words but end up saying nothing? A special talent. Pathetic.

Thank you for your correspondence of 13 October about potential COVID-19 treatments. I have been asked to reply.
COVID-19 is a novel virus, and it is crucial that the Government does everything possible to identify safe and effective treatment for those who need it.
Clinical trials are a vital part of this identification process, because they generate evidence for potential treatments. A number of trials are already underway in the UK and are testing a wide range of potential treatments in primary, acute and intensive care settings. This includes the RECOVERY trial, which is the world’s largest randomised control trial for COVID-19. This trial recently identified the first treatment in the world, dexamethasone, to reduce the risk of mortality in patients hospitalised with COVID-19 who require oxygen or ventilator support.
The Government is of course interested in learning more about all potential interventions that could be safe and effective in treating COVID-19. Further drugs, including novel compounds, will be included in new trials or added to existing trials based on rigorous assessment of the evidence available.
The identification of potential treatments to enter into UK trials is being coordinated by the Department of Health and Social Care. Anyone who would like their proposal to be considered for UK clinical trials can contact the Therapeutics Taskforce at therapeuticstaskforce@dhsc.gov.uk, providing any supporting evidence available for the proposal.
I hope you find this information helpful.
Yours sincerely,
Noor Safi

Every email helps Taverham. My reading is that people full well know about SNG and may have invested, but a takeover or successful phase three will be the catalyst and everyone will jump on the bandwagon. I suspect there is more going on behind the scenes than we know.
I got nil response from my MP , so I emailed prof Farrah , after his Sunday Sky interview asking for his views on SNG01 [because he did not mention it] and guess what - nil response. Academic jealousy imv because it was born in Southampton not Oxford!
Kirky you are probably right - the public need a vaccine so that is the main focus politically. Maybe they are waiting until P3 to back the right therapeutic horse (we all know which one it is) but possibly they need more after the Ferry contract debacle!!
But the Gov are not supporting it. We are. How does he think they are I wonder. They can’t even mention our success so far. They are focusing on a vaccine rather than treatment for sure.
Yeah I don’t know what to make of ‘supporting a P3’ - it might not mean financially, but rather, you come up with the minerals and we’ll cut the political diamonds from it and wear the crown!
Mr Vorag
Thank you for contacting me about treatments for COVID-19.
I was extremely pleased to learn that the Recovery Study trial has proven that dexamethasone reduces the risk of death in patients with COVID-19. Researchers on this study have been working extremely hard to establish a valid connection, and I congratulate them on this significant breakthrough. Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation in a range of conditions including inflammatory disorders and certain cancers, is already being made available across the NHS for use in patients requiring oxygen support or ventilation.
In ventilated patients, 10 days of treatment with Dexamethasone reduced the risk of death by 35 per cent; treatment for patients on a ward requiring oxygen reduced the risk of death by 20 per cent.
I am also greatly encouraged by the preliminary result of SNG001, a treatment being developed by the Southampton-based biotech firm Synairgen. I understand that initial findings suggest that it could significantly reduce the risk of the disease developing more severely and that hospital admissions could be cut by a third. These are, however, preliminary results. The data must still be peer reviewed and the Government is supporting a further larger trial.
I will of course press your concerns over this with Ministers and thank you again for taking the time to contact me.
Kind regards
Mr MP
- decent response and who knows, every little helps...
