Extract in fact, the crisis has led Carina Escobar, president of the Plataforma de Organizaciones de Pacientes (platform of patients' organisations) to describe it as a "parallel pandemic".
In other words, the COVID-19 emergency has left many people suffering from other chronic health conditions without any medical care.
Madrid this is now...

Come on, please don't accuse people of doing something that you have defined based on your assumption.
You say part of my comment is wrong in every aspect but can't say why.
....'Covid diagnostics' is a very blanket term, but that's not the same as using it to produce an accurate case count from mass pillar 2 type testing. He was quite clear about it's limitations.
Vallance said up to 17% immunity in London through antibodies in the earlier presentation.
He did not mention T cells at all. It's widely been reported that this type of immunity exists, estimated 20-50%, then it is possible ('could be') that 50% immunity has been reached in London. This isn't my claim, it's what they are saying may be the case.
The main problem with antibodies is that they become undetectable over time, which means you can't detect if they are still there or not. This decline in detectability was reported very early in official gov health channels.

Known as normality bias, or normalcy bias.
Along with a lot of cognitive dissonance and varying degrees of paranoia.
tommy: apologies, I owe you an apology... read the report wrong. 667 are on ICU, but this refers to all causes not covid.
Tommy... the official NHS database has 667 beds occupied by Covids patients in London as at 10 sep and my understanding is that is has doubled in the last week (it is updated daily but with a lag), backing what Chris Whitty said today. Not sure why you think there are 167 but dont want to have an argument with you... whatever it is, we dont want to have all ICU beds occupied by Covid patients.
Wasn't it the NYT that also reported these tests provide more false positives?
Biggest load of bull I have ever heard this Covid crap. Will there be a second wave.. Yes as the majority of evidence based on other historic viruses says so but nothing like the first.
My hunch... COVID will be history by January. If I am wrong I will buy you all an SNG pen.
Hurtle what on Earth are you talking about? 50% immunity! The facts were laid out this morning. If you don’t believe them where is your superior evidence? Do show it.
I watched Black Books for the first time during lockdown, loved it. Especially the first series, brilliant!
I appreciate the situation is very serious, but just for those who might like a distraction, this is the first (and IMHO best) episode of a sitcom called Black Books, in which Manny assimilates the Little Book of Calm. Very funny.

Come on Hurtle,
Please do not spread these rumours.
Richthenewbie I agree, I haven't seen any figures to support this assertion.
Your comment Hurtle that
"PCR test can produce more false positives than correct positives. Inventor (nobel prize winner) said don't use it for it's current use."
Is also wrong in every aspect.
Plus the inventor of PCR (which is the current gold standard for testing), Prof Kary Mullis, did NOT say that it should not be used for Covid diagnostics.
Kind regards
I work for the Ambulance service in the East of England. We were not badly hit by Covid in our area during the last spike, however due to the nature of our job there was a reasonable level of staff exposure to the virus with a number of staff being quite unwell. When staff were tested on station just under 20% had antibodies which came as a surprise as we were expecting higher levels with some having the virus with minor symptoms. If that is replicated across the country that's still 50,000,000 plus with no antibodies.
(or listen to some idiot like Denise Welch, or their mate Gary on social media, who has a PhD in talking bullsh*t and no education to speak of)
There's no chance London has 50% immunity / herd immunity. That's living in cloud cuckoo land.
This is also ignoring the fact they've stated there's evidence suggesting antibodies, in those that have them, may not last that long anyway.
There's a lot of people being very blasé about this virus because they draw drastically flawed conclusions from data.
On the 18th Sept we had more hospitals than covid patients.
More people dying from flu/pneumonia currently.
Lie of omission from Vallance/Whitty re herd immunity, T-cell protection not mentioned, estimated at 20-50%.
Could be that London has over 50% immunity, in other words, herd immunity achieved.
Rushed vaccine can't possibly be known to be safer than not having it without years of data.
PCR test can produce more false positives than correct positives. Inventor (nobel prize winner) said don't use it for it's current use.
SNG001 is what we need.
My mum works in Whiston and Southport hospitals, thankfully covid admissions low atm but the general message going round is to expect a sharp rise in admissions.
Tommy, suggest you call Charing Cross ask how many covid patients they have and how many they are expecting
They keep banging on about death and the elderly as if the two are the only problem...they are not...
The biggest problem will be long term effects for many who survive Covid and this is the hidden right now and where treatments like SNG001 are so needed but as has been mention it is not available to anyone yet outside of the in home trial.
Unfortunately, it's frustrating to many shareholders but I'm sure we must be very close to knowing one way or the other...
Whitty (who i have on very good authority ha from the beginning refused to sit in any gov briefing meetings with Dominic Cummings), needs the public to listen so they are not infected - London hospitals almost now full already... thus his no 1 priority is limiting the number of people who get this disease. Also, in Spanish Flu, the old died to start with but the second year the young died as the virus mutated. Thus i would be horrified if their no 1 concern was not to stop people getting ill. They are top docs, of course they know about Synairgen and they are discussing this and other treatments with the medics and trusts/nhs procurement - no doubt about this. Not convinced they will ever announce this as if everyone thinks they can take an thing like an asthma thing, then everyone would get infected and they will have entirely failed. What drugs are used to treat people are in my view, never likely to be broadcast as there might be eg 3 or 4 treatments which are better depending if you are on steroids, a diabetic, have cancer, transplant, young, old etc and it would be ridiculous if the public was demanding one drug which may or may not be the best for them. If the docs want Synairgen, they will be nagging their trusts for it shortly, not least for their own safety
