Thanks Sadoldgit, I think she is recovering well, though her lungs deteriorated a bit yesterday. A few on this board are affected by long Covid, hope they recover soon. If this goes the way of the Spanish flu as Thoth is suggesting it would not bear thinking about. Our sons, daughters, nephews and nieces would all be on the front line.
Fearg, I believe control of the cytokine storm can be halted by 1801 of that I have no doubt. It is just my opinion that if different parts of our immune system can be adjusted by the way it signals then the immune system can repair most of damage done, Much contradiction as to the exact kinases involved. We have the basics as far as I see with regards to cytokine storm. Tyk 2 is very selective ( can be formulated ever so) and the small amount of Jak 1 looks optimal.
Mental disorders have been associated with Covid. The question here:- are you more vulnerable with a mental disorder of the effects of Covid 19 or has Covid 19 created directly or indirectly to a mental disorder. Certain material leads us to the latter but not proven conclusively'
I do hope and pray your daughter will be fine and especially her partner as well as all the other children. Heartbreaking to see young children suffering. In a way we are fortunate to have a health system, however much that it costs that can provide treatment to all. A valuable but also a finite resource.
Regards
If you are correct in your assessment of we have not just an effective treatment for the reduction of the cytokine storm bu also an effective recovery treatment for organ damage, as seen in long covid then all bets are really off in terms of where this will take the company. The big pharmas with skins in Covid 19 are going to be falling over themselves trying to outbid each other and court us. Sincerely hope Tim and John hold out for the best possible deal for the long suffering shareholders on here. Many of us are touched by this awful pandemic. My daughter is a primary school teacher and is teaching a class of Junior infants. A child in her class brought the virus into the classroom and my daughter contracted the virus. She appears to be recovering well but her partner is quite sick with it. Six of the junior infant class have been diagnosed with Covid and all are asymptomatic. So much for young children not getting it and not spreading the virus. The Indian variant has reached these shores and will cause havoc until a more sinister variant arrives to put the tin hat on it. Don't want to be alarmist but the importance of the next few months for Sareum and for the world is incalculable.
That has just put the hairs up on the back of my neck Thoth. I deduce from this that the stronger our immune systems are, then more it will work against us. That has opened a can of worms. Very bizarre, frightening too!
Regards and have a good weekend
Sadoldgit. Agree with everything you say with one caveat. 1918 wave 2 (my postulated wave 3). Killed 20 to 40 year olds most because they had a mature and robust immune system. Their immune cytokine storm overreacted more than the youngest and feeble precisely because they had a healthy immune. That is the wave i think is coming next. That is what we address i hope. As ever wait and see . It will become endemic but more like flu. But not until 30% of the world has had it or is vaccinated. Which may be a few years off. Cheery weekend all.
The elderly, infirm and overweight are far more succeptible due to far from perfect immune systems. Exercise and diet play an important role. But not the whole of the story.
Viruses have the ability to mutate and do this as a method for their own survival. They will adapt to an environment, As a general rule the more transmittable a virus the less harm it does and the more fatal the virus the less transmittable it will be. With Covid 19 the general rule has been broken. The virus has evolved to survive!
Vaccinations as a prevention will help but not a be all and end all. Proper masks and the correct wearing of in many applications will help and again not a be all and end all.
An effective treatment of which there are none so far needs to be established. I believe we are on the cusp of having that very treatment in:-
1 reduction of cytokine storm
2 an effective recovery treatment for organ damage.
Regards and these are my most honest conclusions.
Thoth2, a colleague of mine’s daughter works in ICU and said that last years first wave the majority of hospitalizations were the elderly, infirm and grossly overweight. For the last 4 or 5 months she’s already seen a shift with more and more admissions being of her age group (mid 20’s)
Let’s hope UKRI and AGILE are working as fast as possible as the next couple of warm months are not going to be the green light of freedom many think it is.
At the time they didnt have diagnostics like now. I think the first wave then was missed as pneumonia (like the world did here in late 2019). Spanish flu deadliest wave was wave 2 according to the literature. I think it was actually wave 3. Which is about to spread and hit the young healthy and economically active the worst. Watch the ages of hospitalisations. Stay safe. If my hypothesis plays out the worst yet to come over next year. Then disappears in virulence at least. Stay safe. Im not selling until peak hysteria which may be 6 months off.
