The average is what Halifax says I purchased them at. It isn't accurate. I know I deposited approx £18k into my ISA to buy SAR but top slices and buybacks have muddied the water a bit. I've taken approx £25k out since last Dec. So now on a free ride and £7k profit.
It depends how you view it.
In my case I either have a profit of £76.30 and 520k shares at zero cost, or I have a profit of £1,989 and 520k shares at an average of 0.31p.
Either is correct.
Planker, that doesn’t make sense. Your average would be your share holding (number of shares) dividend by the cost of purchase. Your theory would equate to a negative average. ie. -0.74p per share.
Doesn't it mean he has made enough on SAR already to cover his full outlay. Therefore even if the current SP goes to zero he is covered. The 0.73 average just relates to the current retained holding.
Potnak, out of curiosity how can you have n average of 0.74 if as you said earlier your now on a free ride? Surely your average can only be 0.00p?
Lol, thanks for the concern guys. I still have 2.5 million shares here with an average of 0.74p. I won't get upset when you all have Astons and Lambos or a yacht in the case of Thoth. I have traded SAR for approx 10 years even though Baserite disapproved :-). Sold out completely at 1 point but then bought 1 mil back and have held between 1 and 3 million since. A good 1 million of those shares were bought by selling spikes and buying dips and the 21k I have sat in my ISA from the last sale may go back on SAR if there is another dip. Who knows.
I remember thinking that I should take some profits on the ITM shares I bought at 20.7p when they hit 40p. Luckily I didn't, instead I held them until 650p before selling half of them.
Great to take profits when you can.
What a lot of people don't take into consideration is that many of us had been invested for years here when the SP had dropped off the scale to around the 0.25p mark and we continued to buy going in balls deep to average down because of our unwavering belief in the science. One bad RNS at that point would have left us up the Kyber and mega bucks out of pocket.
By reading the situation well and taking a few quid out on the spikes and buying a few back on the dips we have managed to insure our investment to the point where we have banked a tidy sum and have a lot of shares left on a free carry.
Here's hoping the rise will continue and be a game changer for all long term holders whatever their trading strategy has been.
ATB Guys
According to figures posted by Potnak himself he sold around 1,000,000 shares between June 30th and July 16th. Spotted it at the time and thought that leopards do not change their spots. Each to their own. No problem with trading unless it turns you into another sly huntress. Maybe his Daughter could write him an essay on his new confirmation bias.
Good for you potnak, I'm pleased for you. Surprising how much more relaxed you can be about daily movements in the SP when you've banked some profits. I'm on a slightly different strategy having sold enough to make what I consider a reasonable return on a ten-year investment, and intend to keep the rest free-running until either the half in my SIPP exceed the lifetime allowance or we get bought out, whichever is sooner. Best wishes. K
Sensible strategy Potnak.
Having been burnt on VOG, SOU and YELL all of which I had been in profit on at some point, I was more than happy to seel 100k at 2.3p to leave the rest on a free carry.
I will probably sell another 100k to bank a decent profit at some point.
You know what, M308. I had a proper think about stuff. I remembered how I felt when I lost 90% of my holding years ago on OXB, I remembered the fallout on the IMM board when they failed their trial and I just thought, don't get greedy. The other reason is the ramping here and the subsequent shutting down of any conversation that is ramping is getting a bit desperate and that to me at least screams of insecurity, so I thought, no one really knows, it's all speculation. The secret patent might be for covid, it might not. The comparable deal sizes we know aren't that big for preclinical compounds. Some people will think I'm being negative, I'm not. I'm just not attached to this share like I was once and I'm following my brain rather than my heart.
And I still have a potentially life-changing amount of shares.
308, ditto, been there and still feel the pain, you live and learn. Sareum has something very special, and its about to blow the bloomberg doors off ;)
i thought as much you sold a big chunk of your holding the other day PK''
I notice it in your posts'' the things you would say when SP went back over 7p
but wasn't going to say''
anyway don't let go what you have left and live to regret it forever
because it has happen to me, and i still feel it after 3 years, true story''
just a thought
308..
