I don't subscribe to them either (but have figured out a way to get behind their paywall - my little 'up yours' to the rabid right wingers!).
The newspaper is anti-lockdown. So anything they print has that slant. And anti a lot of things. Especially the readership. So the DT is a past master with the dog whistle... knows exactly how to get them frothing.
Hi Slownsteady, I don't have access to the DT but I managed to see the chart they published and it was produced by PHE/SPI. Hopefully the data continues to stay well below the predicted curve.
GLA
Thanks FJG. Duh... of course it's not 400k plus in hospital at any one time! I looked in for your numbers as the DT had reported that we are in a MUCH better position than the boffins have predicted from vaccine recovery.
But that's the DT for you. Their reader comments are even worse. Outrageously ra.cist, xenophobic, rabid..
Slownsteady,
It is the cumulative number of COVID-19 patients admitted to hospital since records started last winter.
It's far less relevant than the daily figure that we, as a society, want to see drop down to very low numbers in the weeks ahead. This is currently going in the right direction with the latest daily figure dropping to around 1100 and may that drop long continue.
For reference, this seems to have been the peak:
12-01-2021 4,576 336,096
I think I figured it out. A running total?
Is that 439,000 in hospital?
Or is it 439,000 been in and out of hospital since a year ago?
Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Cruises to nowhere for the vaccinated people departing from the UK look like the only game in town. So Saga well placed. Presumably, no need to quarantine if you haven’t visited anywhere and there’s no outbreak on the ship. So really it is quarantine, just a much more enjoyable version of it!

Thanks RH. I certainly enjoy reading your posts, even when we're not on the same page. But I do agree with you here, that it's better just to move on...and enjoy the ride to £3+. (Mind you, I hope that wasn't one of your KoD predictions!)
I’m going to count to 3

Now let’s all move on guys. Nothing has actually happened so pleeeaase let it drop.
You have clearly invested in Saga Ndn so Welcome and also Pianista it’s nice to see you are back.
£3+ next week guys.
Ndn71.......2nd Feb 20:51 4th post on Saga BB.......copy and paste.
I take it thats s no then to keeping your vaccine updates to one thread.
I’m not interested in daily bulletins. It’s moronic
Ho hum
So you never insulted anyone with the word moronic......just pointing out you clearly did. To be fair you did catch me at a bad time and totally agree we all want to do well, so all the very best with your investments and hope you do well.
GLA
Pianista, I have been watching my grandson all day and thankfully he is is now tucked up in bed, peace and quiet :-) It's taken me 5 minutes to go through the 43 posts from today.....yes 5 minutes. Might I also suggest you have a look at a busy BB and it will perhaps put things into perspective.
With regards to "ad hominem attacks", personally speaking I will never sit back and ignore a new poster who with his / her +/- 3rd post calls out a respected poster on here as moronic, also I might add a poster who is a known disruption on other BB's. Also with regards to your query why no one answered you about the post regarding 23m shares.....did you seriously expect an answer ? as it was pretty obvious it was either a typo, a mistake or a total misunderstanding on the original posters behalf. There are many posts on many BB's that don't warrant an answer, always has been and always will be, that's a fact none of us can alter. People are always going to recommend posts that are in someone else's opinion incorrect, what are we supposed to do about it ? after all everyone has different opinions and can voice them freely and take the flak that may possibly come with it.
What you are asking for is an ideal world BB......it simply ain't going to happen no matter what we think.
GLA and have a great weekend.
This is not a busy board!! you should check AVCT etc and you will see what busy is!
