Sadly my average is around £25.50 and I've been holding since 2018 only to then suffer the dividend massacre last year. So, I can't wait to get back to £25 to reduce my position as being greedy and chasing original high yield, I also am very overweight in Shell. So it's not been a great ride so far but as they say, your mistakes are a valuable lesson worth their weight in gold!
We shall see and right now, I'm concerned what the Cunning Offloading of Profit conference will do to the SP next week. Frankly I'm terrified about the hysterical pace Gov is committing us all too in an effort to achieve Woke goals which will never cease in the race to drive the UK to the bottom of economic pile. In compensation we become World leaders in Green technologies ................... yeah right, lets just see the real powerhouses US/China/India really get behind that huh.
"What’s in Shell's DNA is making money from energy."
======================================================
But there are obvious tensions in a company that wants to maximise profits from fossil fuels whilst also maximising profits from green technologies, the two objectives aren't necessarily compatible....and with one set of senior management it may lead to conflicting goals. Perhaps they need to split the company into two independent bits - with two management teams - one for fossil fuels and other for low carbon energy.
Today we discover that meat & oil producing countries have been asking the UN to water down their climate report recomendations. A company that is 100% behind green energy would be doing the opposite to support their investment strategy.....I wonder who Shell are supporting, the scientists or Australia/Saudi Arabia?
What’s in Shell's DNA is making money from energy.
Also, considerable expertise in offshore engineering, subsea infrastructure, gas storage, distribution and delivery for Hydrogen powered vehicles and industrial plant.
Can you still use fossil fuel and be climate friendly? Sure - just progressively use a lot less of it as your ‘climate friendly’ energy provider smooths out the transition.
Extinction? The world will not turn fully green in our, or our children’s lifetimes. Fossil fuels will be around for longer than any of us.
"People are in cloud cookoo land if they think Shell won't be a leading light into renewable energy.."
==================================================================
The question is what you mean by leading light?!....I suspect Shell will be dragged into greener technologies but their DNA is fossil fuels. People will ask, can you continue to extract oil whilst claiming to be climate friendly?...the answer is obviously no.
The real question is whether companies like Shell will be seen as dinosaurs and can they avoid extinction.
Happy to see it close above £18.
Looking forward to another good showing tmrow.
People are in cloud cookoo land if they think Shell won't be a leading light into renewable energy..but oil is far from dead and will be a vital commodity for decades!!
Thursday week is everything. This could go back to pre covid levels. I have been telling the world that this is the best recovery share to buy into for the last 18 months and was laughed at. Told that peak oil had passed and Shell had been too slow to move into renewables.
Opened strong today above £18. Hopefully the momentum continues. Fingers crossed.
Well done Bimmer668
I’m a bit behind you managing 2500 shares at £13 average but I’m very happy with gains so far c £5 in less than a year and looks like decent support at the level
When I bought Shell last year I had hoped to double my money within 5 years.
By averaging down, I managed to pick up 3000 shares at £10
I got greedy and tried to trade it which caused my average price to go up to £11 when I missed timed it.
Glad I did get back in at £11.
To double it, I now need it to hit £22.
So I'd be delighted if it does hit £25 by next year.
Though, that would require a perfect storm to happen.
For now I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride
Strap on guys, it may get bumpy as nothing goes up in a straight line.
There are bound to be wave up wave down motions on the way to £25.
I may just get off at £23, thanking Shell for a great ride there.
Cheers. Looking forward to £25 in 2022!
hi, hope your well. £25 could be a little optimistic , but the way share price has exploded in the last month, is remarkable . if it goes up on results next week, most will see above £20 going forward. i just cant believe the take off. but am really happy about it. enjoy the good times after the last 18 months of misery , thats what I say. good luck.
Global Energy is in high demand. Record prices being paid for all forms of energy. Expect Shell to announce high current and future profits, increased green investments and a higher dividend to investors. I predict the SP will be £25 within a year.
