I do understand you examples with £3/£10 but don't really get it what's the point of taking attention away from current real-world situation right into imaginary world..
As for next/last post - yes, do appreciate your joke.
Let's just make it clear for others: their close of 0.19% out of total 172m emitted shares is 327K shares ... with recent average of nearly to 3 million shares per day and bulk of off-book trades in large lots ... Lol , another camouflage..
Made my day.

We know that whitebox have reduced their short by about 30%.
It has had no noticeable impact on price.

''The moment you'll know they've reduced will be too late, sp normally would be at a very different level by then.''
Buying shares to give back borrowed shares does not automatically mean an increase in share price. The market decides day to day on the valuation of a company.
If the disclosed shorts completely disappear, the share price could be anything at that time.
I would rather investigate the merits of a purchase at 300p with no shorts than at 200p with 10% short. Buying at 300p instead of 200p if it went to 1000p wouldn't make much difference to me. I'm sure no one else would complain about missing out on the extra £1 either.
LTI - The moment you'll know they've reduced will be too late, sp normally would be at a very different level by then.
Real money can only be made acting in advance of market reaction/arbitrage, right before these factors starting to play in.

I have already stated on here that I haven't done enough of my own research to form my own view about a valuation. I have also said that I am of the belief than the funds holding short positions have done thorough research and so that I would not bother to do any further investigations of my own until such time the short positions have decreased by a significate margin.
lti well do you?

Do you think Mat will have an alternative view, and if so what is he doing here?
Mat
I'm sure readers will be very interested in your post....... not .
All investors are interested in, is purchasing their share of choice at their desired price.
matlot do you think we'll see 300 again here?
why duck the main thrust of the question - if share trading is an almost irrelevant hobby for you as a now minted part timer - why are you spending so much time on here questioning alternative views and sharing your infinite wisdom ?
Nov
Why have you put a sentence in quotes.
Are you creating mischief
Nov
''Then WTF are you doing on here creating mischief and uncertainty ''
I don't make uncertainty.
Politics, economics, markets etc create uncertainty.
If anyone likes their Metro investment, I won't change that view.
Mr longterm if you're to be believed as the serious player that you like to make out.
"Long term, not interested in volatility and can live off of the dividends of my expert trading"
Then WTF are you doing on here creating mischief and uncertainty with investors that are predominantly long and stuck ??
I think you're full of sh 1t mate, or another illbet type paid troll ? You can't possibly be both so which is it ????
lti how old are you? Can you stop avoiding the question?
JM
They obviously want it known that they are still short.
If they dropped to 4.99% some on here would be even more excited thinking that they may have closed completely.
With undisclosed ,the overall short positions may just as well have increased than decreased.
There is significance in them remaining in view on or over 0.5% holding so they must think it matters.
Dogger barking again. Good to see!
lti you are clearly ret@rded
Yes.
The disclosed short position has gone just below 10%, and some seem to think it has great significance.
anything happen ?
