With regard to your post of 13.27.
I agree with what you say regarding the British character of loving to be abused and falling for it.
People should ask themselves why the media in all its formats exist, the simple reply is to make money for the proprietors. The good news does not make money, they fathomed that out many years ago.
Your remarks on building things on hills etc, well once even here we could do it, right up to the end of the Victorian/Edwardian age and of course through two world wars. If the Victorians wanted or need something they did it or built it. In both World Wars likewise, between 1940-44the country within those short 4 years did fantastic work.
Created/invented marvels that the modern world still uses and depends on, became the second largest producer of tanks and aircraft, and became the most mechanised agricultural industry after America. They laid fuel lines from Liverpool & Bristol docks to airfields and docks etc across the country. And laid the lines across the channel to the Normandy beaches the Code Word for them was P.L.A.T.O pipelines under the ocean.
My favorite Engineer and genius was Brunel, who designed ships, tunnels, railways, roads, and bridges, which can still be seen and used to this day, a man would not be allowed to accomplish what he and others did then, now.

Shareholders contributed to the discovery, drilling, and continual renewal of the North Sea oilfields.
British taxpayers from day one contributed to the above and have continued to do so, January 2016 Scottish politicians complained that Westminster was only handing out £125 million to assist the industry.
The British taxpayer must have contributed many many billions to the development of the North Sea fields, which people forget or did not know and the SNP forgets purposely. English, Welsh, N. Irish, and Scotts contributed, but it appears we own none of it.

Booze, fags, and counting my money helps.
The sex bit Mmmmm don't like to be on my own when that happens.
At the end of the day, Left or Right, the UK is just about the most miserable country on all of planet Earth. We revel in misery, hysteria, and artificial panic. Last week we were all going to boil to death in the sunshine, this week we are going to drown in a thunderstorm flood, and next week we will freeze to death as leccy bills hit £1 million a day. We love the misery and moaning. We are addicted to it.
**Yes the left wing media these days is absolutely shameful.**
Yeah, Cos The Right wing media are the Angels of heaven !!....give me break please.
Yes the left wing media these days is absolutely shameful.
"People on this board absolutely believe the media."
The trouble is we don't have journalist any longer, all we have are presenters who read off autocues, they get their information from a corrupted single source, the story is reported hundreds of times and becomes the truth.
What's needed is more independent journalist prepared to get of their fat arse, discover the complete picture and hopefully neutralise the so called "freedom of misinformation".
