Ford I was on the street protesting against the Iraq and Afghanistan wars so dont try to lecture me as some pro US mainstream idiot. Also 'read a book' to find out how we go to this position? Would that be Aleksandr Dugin's foundations of geopolitics.?Yes I have read it and yes you are quite right, it is the reason we are in this position. If we lived by Dugins beliefs we would probably still be burning witches and persecuting gay people.
Good to see the rise we were kind of expecting. Back to the holding pattern ~118-120. Interesting jump earlier today.Just pent up demand of just the bookbuilders scooping up those weak hands/ weak 'bots who sold out yesterday (I like to think that !)
Still, I nearly crumbled and put my remaining dough into CINE !
GLA
Dan, read a book.
For the record, I never once said Putin was right. And yes, whataboutism, as you call it, is a thing. You can ignore it if you believe the US is on 'our' side and have been brain-washed. knock yourself out.
But please, read a book or two on the history of the world written by real journalists, not MSM talkingheads.
You will quickly learn how we got to this place in time.
Ford I am not saying anything about US. All I can hear from you is whataboutism. You cant convince me that Putin is right for attacking Ukraine and murdering people. It is true that the west have engaged in barbaric acts of war - everyone agrees that is bad and needed to stop. But that doesnt then mean it is right for Russia to carry on with it. There is nothing right about this war and there is only one person perpetuating violence right now.
As a side note IAG can you catch up with ezj pls
Look the war doesn't end until Russia over takes Ukraine. What was thought to be a short term war has turned into a long term one. This could go on for another year easily.
But once the physical war ends , the financial will still be there. These sanctions aren't going anywhere , and it's those very sanctions that have lead to this inflation crisis globally (due to the energy/ commodity squeeze).
Whats happening right now is that countries are changing their sources of supply , for example Norway is now exporting more power to Germany.
However it's clear we can only export so much and these infrastructures always have outages / issues that affect capacity. So really you either fast track development of new infrastructures/projects OR you try to negotiate better sanctions with Russia (can't see this happening as they'll want them removed completely).
I think we'll get to the point where the sanctions will have to get dropped to bring inflation down. Its a nuclear option but it's also clear to see that the global economy cannot sustain this
US are stealing oil from Syrian lands occupied by US backed forces as we speak.
Dan, Are you kidding me?
"Putin wants to wage wars to build an empire?"
What do you think the US has been doing fro the last 60 years? Peace making?
Get real or go back to sleep.
Learn history, read books, not what the MSM wants you to know.
Yes, it is f**king inconvenient for ME, that the war in Ukraine is happening, if it is not for you then I would question your motive...
Why don't you ask all those in Europe that will suffer from fuel poverty and poverty in general this year and next if they are all in to back Ukraine?
Putin may be a bully, but so is Biden and all previous US administrations. learn history FFS.
Ford I dont understand you. You are saying that we should just let a bully take land away from another country because it is financially inconvenient to us? How is it bidens fault that Putin wants to wage wars to build an empire? Your logic is so warped as to be nonsensical. It's like someone repeatedly punching you and when you try to block them, they get angry because you are stretching out the beating.
I agree with Scotty, the war will end when Putin and the Chinese decides it ends.
Biden had the chance to stop it early on, chose not to and instead keep the supply of weapons and money flowing in to fight a proxy war.
This will be a grinding out war or attrition. Russia is already rebuilding parts of the east of Ukraine, they are literally integrating it into Russia.
It will also last as long as Europe can tolerate the loss. People's minds will sway once the financial impact hits their wallets.
That being said, people will fly, some won't due to financial constraints others will find a way just to relieve some stress. A treat if you will.
Sund there is absolutely no sign of the war ending. Let's not put out wild assumptions
Forgot to say, war might end too...it has to!! then we shall see.
wait till staffing issues and heathrow cap is lifted (oct -nov).....then we will have a look at it again!! let them grow again, give them a chance...profits will rise fast!! we shall see. All the best!!
AC I agree on the inflation outlook. For me however its not question of valuation, doesn't make sense for this to be at covid lows when people are still flying.
Ac, i didn't see you posting these sorts of things as to why oil was lower:
"However, Russia has started to gradually increase oil production after sanctions-related curbs" (from CNBC)..Analysts at "Goldman Sachs said a return of Iranian crude supply would reduce their 2023 forecast by $5-10 per barrel from $125 per barrel."(from cnbc)..
MoRonyourself!!
and last month it was $200 oil brining IAG <100
you have your agenda and the narrative is fitted around it right?
Jet 2 in my experience have shown what customer service is all about, I've flown with them a couple of times and cabin crew are friendly and enthusiastic.
Jet2 had no cancellations in July and their customer service team and very good, only issue has been being on hold for a long time.
With the arrival on new Airbus air to replace some of their ancient 737s I'm sure they will do very well over the next few years.
Jtan Jet2 for me. Excellent service
Look I think fair value is much higher but that isn't gonna stop this getting sold off , i wasn't expecting those inflation numbers not gonna lie. The US will have a lower inflation number and maybe this will give us some short term relief but it's clear to see we are ****ed for the winter.
Anyone know when we get q3 results?
Jtan, what about baggage handlers? Airlines employ them?
'They aren't stupid'
Fired a ton of staff so unprepared for summer demand
Hedges at the last minute at the peak in oil prices
Let's strikes headlines go on for weeks before sorting it out when it should've been proactive from the start
They're stupid
Jtan, you will be correct. IMHO.
oil lost $2 in the last couple of hrs. can only be good for airlines. Watch US markets go back up after ftse close! DYOR.
Typical. We rise for a day or two then slapped back down to previous level. The 'bots probably sucked out any new money on top of Mondays ~2% rise. We'll probably be 1/2 % up tomorrow just to 'rebalance lol/
