In the example below that would be a 1st payment of 3 x £2500 = £7500

All self employed are getting a payment in June for 80% of their profits whether or not they are still working.
To get the maximum £2500 per month that would require showing earnings of £3125 per month average earnings for either 12 / 24 or 36 months. Less than 12 months you can't get it.
The Government is paying all self employed 3 months pay in June evening if they have still been working.
So the plumber earning £3125 per month will get a government payment of £2500 on top as a nice little Corona bonus.
Meanwhile the Government are telling HSBC to not pay me my dividends which I live on.
They will only get the £2500 (max) based on their avg monthly wage for the past 3 years as I understand.
If you're aware of scroates now getting paid in cash and then intending to claim OFF YOU AND ME (Tax payers) by saying they had no work then please report them to HMRC!! You can do that without giving your details and they will take it very seriously indeed; looking remotely (with authority) into bank accounts for sudden cash deposits or suddenly not drawing down their own money because they had cash in their pocket, and then prosecute them It will be probably classed as profiteering during these times as well as theft. They will also check ANPR near persons house to catch them in their vehicles. All cars need to feed - aka fuel up.
I worked alongside HMRC as SIO with another Gov Investigations department and know HMRC will be all over people like this.
I look for 10% + returns HSBC I think will be as safe as you going to get with 10 percent return after 2020 .
On the some what good side if things go really bad.
If there are losses they will have extra 13 billion to cover it .
If hsbc get through this fairly well they will be even stronger with that 13 billion .
We Can not change what has happened but maybe 2021 will be great ,
Pheobe's dad Warren...he of cheap meal deal name.

So it looks like Attila the Hun has just rampaded through here
and took all the mutton.
The Goverment have stepped in to help the employed and self employed, BUT what about people living on Dividends ?
The employed that are currently out of work can get 80% or even 100% of wages if employer tops it up (HMRC pays 80% upto £2500 / month) and then they can go out and do another job ie: fruit picking for £500 a week.
Self employed are getting a cheque for 80% of their profits from HMRC even if they are still working, that's crazy. I know plumbers that are still working and now going to get £2500 a month from government aswell.
The BOE had no right in sticking their nose in and telling HSBC to bounce a cheque on us.
We held on the record date END of story !!!
That's exactly the point, Stockdale; "some banks" took government money in the so called bailout but not HSBC so it always irritates me when I hear commentators incorrectly refer to "the banks."
These shares at around the £4 level are beginning to look like a strong "buy" to me.

I think they're trying to prepare to prop up the banks because data coming out of China is starting to show they've lied to everyone. Body count much higher and whisleblowers keep disappearing. Last one talked to 60 Minutes. Their documentary has shown it all kicked off in China second week of NOVEMBER, not end of Jan.
Think about it all. USA is expecting 250k fatalities and yet China says it only had 3,132. Yes America has a dick in charge who refused to believe the virus was real, at one point saying Democrats had invented it however his presidency is over now and normality will be in there by December this year. I feel everyone is trying to suppress the truth because when the banks collapse again we;re all f00ked like post 2008. They need to keep the banks up this time and one casualty are dvi's. I feel your pain. we went down to one salary in our household over two weeks ago and now my scumbag tenant will cost me my apartment (pension plan) by refusing to pay any rent and hunkering down for 6 months thanks to Corbyns push to stop evictions. Agents were just about to serve Section 21 on him day after Government stopped them. Scumbag is using Covid as an excuse not to pay and yet Gov made clear 85% of salaries will be paid and he and his partner have not been ;aid off work either, travelling back and fourth every day.
Feel your pain - I truly do. Stay Safe all

The regulatory body for banks has no influence over GSK or RIO as they aren't banks. The government is influencing the companies they can. I believe it's also largely because some banks were bailed out after 2008 and the government feel the public are on their side to get the banks to help. Unfortunately that means shareholders suffer, again.
GlaxoSmithKline are due to pay 23p dividend on 9th April, have they been told NOT to pay UK shareholders ?
Rio Tinto are paying a dividend on 16th April, have they been told not to pay UK shareholders ?
Why has BOE stuck their nose in and told HSBC not to pay us ?
It F¥@#ing stinks. Dividends are my only income, or were.
It strikes me as tokenism from Tory MPs who are being embarrassed by the government's handling of COVID-19. HSBC saving this money won't affect their ability to lend or help where they can. Don't look at the slow response or the lack of testing but look at the financial package and strong measures we've taken to make sure banks can lend. A distraction technique.
I can't see HSBC moving though. Hong Kong is China. No way they actually want to be under Chinese control. The US is a bear pit to operate in. Europe is out as the banking sector isn't healthy at the moment. There aren't really any other options.
I agree they should pay the recent divi at least. Hopefully when this is over, assuming the company does weather the storm okay, they will pay out a special one to thank loyal investors.
As I wrote yesterday, the cancellation of the dividend due on April 14th should not have happened. They should have honoured their undertaking to holders at the record date. HSBC like US banks, who I note, are not cancelling their dividends, pay the dividend quarterly. HSBC could entertain cancelling dividends for future quarters but at the same time dust down their plans for domiciling away from the UK. I did write to HSBC, got a response, but it was a clearly a PR exercise.
