I'm 100% sure that Shaun is not here to sell or negotiate the sale of the company. Any buyout would really need the backing of the GGP board and have them recommend it to the shareholders. If it weren't approved then I guess that NCM would have the option to go hostile but I can't see that happening and it could invite other parties to the table.
I've spoken to a few people who have had 1-2-1 access to Shaun in recent weeks and they are all in 100% agreement that he is fully committed to the public plan to build GGP into a multi-asset, multi-billion pound company. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for an ambitious CEO like Shaun to build a future legacy and personally I don't think he will be found wanting.
Of course there may be external forces outside of his control that mean it doesn't come to fruition, but I think he's savvy enough and been in the business long enough to be aware of the many challenges and pitfalls in the coming years.
I'll be cheering him on all the way - it's an opportunity for me and my family to secure our financial futures.
In your opinion that’s what happens Jack but that’s all. What about a premium having to be paid on top of the SP’s highest point in the last 12 months. Then if the offer is too low, the offeror runs the risk that counter-offers come flooding in and then bids and counter bids can ensue. This might just be for Hav alone rather than the whole of GGP so instead of placing a negative impression on GGPers that we might not get much for our assets, imho we could get an absolute fortune for what is fast being known as a Tier 1 resource. You should know by now that I hate posters who leave negative thoughts in people’s minds (sometimes deliberately) when in truth it is only their opinion and rarely based on facts!!!
Jack, I do understand your point of view, but I do think that Bamos has a compelling argument, and that a significant number of the II's would feel that any proposed t/o at this stage (or in the next 12/18 months) would be premature, and unlikely to succeed
@Bamps21: "Hi Jack - How can anyone put a price on an ore body that keeps on growing." If senior JV partners waited til they reached the end of it then no explorers would ever be bought out. But they usually are. For example, Mariana Resources was bought out years ago and as far as i know the prospect - i forget it's name - is still growing. Nobody waits til every last inch has been counted,
@Davielad. Hi. I am out of step with most of the posters about this and - of course - i could be wrong. But it's in line with what Steve Todoruk has said is going to happen. If there's a buyout IMHO the price is going to be a disappointment to most people. It's unfair but it's what happens.
Hi Jack How can anyone put a price on an ore body that keeps on growing. Why would Ggp sell out of a major find with 30-40 years life span maybe more with at least 9 years of profits of $200m or more and 20-30 years of $175m or more. We don't need another prize but they will go for it when the profits start rolling in. You are thinking too short term, if they get say £200m for their share and blow it all on exploration and don't find the ore body, what then! Don't throw away your golden egg there might not be another one
@Jack TB, I am not sure I agree with you, but I would think, that if you were to be right, that any offer, from NCM or indeed anyone else, for it to be successful, would need to be substantial, and by that I mean over £1.00
@Texlax30: "Jack, not sure what you’re saying - " All i can do is repeat what i just said. If NCM had bought GGP's share of Havieron it could have had an independent future and be funded to work it's other 'juri' prospects with 100% ownership. It's a guess but i think it's what GGP would have liked to happen at the end of last year and a disappointment that it didn't. Like i said, i think the upshot will be an offer for the whole company before the end of the year.
@napthman1. Selling Havieron would have guaranteed GGP an independent future. Instead it's in effect a yes-man to NCM. IMHO there'll be an offer at something over 38p towards the end of the year. That's less than selling Havieron last year would have been worth.
Who said a rio etc what we have said a miner and who knows what happens, did rio just pop up one day as big as it is? No it grew over many years. No one knows fir defo but what we do know is shaun has been brought in to make a beast from our little puppy
@Texlax30: "Disagree - that would be akin to Tymers’ big seller agreeing in January to sell his 35p shares for a minimum of 20p." Yes - but maybe it's not what GGP wanted and they didn't have a choice about it. IMHO it would have been better to sell Havieron last year - even at estimated and less than full potential value - and be funded to move forward with the rest of the prospects 100% owned. At the moment GGP is reduced to a sleeping partner. It's hard to see a long term future.
Texlax - ermm, is that not what I said? In response to others - SD will JV with whoever, whenever...all "day" long - to get the job done. He will also sell off some tenements if it suits his needs. Hav may well provide a royalty stream for bigger and better things. What SD/GGP will NOT do is turn themselves into a Rio/NCM/BHP. Not a chance in hell. Not their M.O. Z
Disagree - that would be akin to Tymers’ big seller agreeing in January to sell his 35p shares for a minimum of 20p.
Why would GGP not just use HAV revenue to exploit other assets over the next 25 years? We won’t get our hands dirty, just write and cash cheques, it’s what non operators do. At least that’s what my message would be over the next two years if I was SD...!
I think you need to read the last article that shaun day was interviewed, where he makes reference to our licenses that he has purposely not done jv's on and also, the fact it makes several references to what he did previously and that is to build a multi billion mining company, we didnt need him to sell out, he was brought in for a reason. Now noting can be ruled out but its clear as day ( did u like that) that thats not the plan to sell out. Thats what investors want that want quick mo ey, i think ggp Has a long life ahead
Only majors are miners! GGP will not be miners in the true sense of the word. They will not get their hands dirty, they will remain a small compact outfit that explores and discovers. What GGP have and will do, is JV or sell out. They will sell some or all of their Paterson tenements, and or continue with the JV (if permitted by the major) to access royalties etc. SD is an M&A operator, the clue is in the name! Sit back, chill out and watch the show develop. Z
