@sneaky, there is no doubt affimers are neat, highly specific molecules that can target the bits you need to detect. The issue is at the other end, how can you detect the binding with a high enough sensitivity. PCR does it by copying, but lateral flow type tests require ‘developing’ the signal. PCR makes billions of copies, lateral flow is often a 1:1 detection so billions of times less sensitive. That’s where the problem with affimer and antibody based tests are - signal amplification. Been like that for 20 years plus
@ Fly
Mind reader. I suspected the same, what a better time to raise cash for the business? POC Covid19? What's that? No mate cancer treatment.
Not long ago I came across few comparative papers of Affimers Vs Antibodies, Affimers were depicted as the future of diagnostic ( and maybe they are) , the impression was that Affimers are still trying to be establish as a valid product in a antibody market.
I think the timing of AVCT's placing is down to the CEOs appreciation that there is still potential for their massively hyped-up POC Covid test to fall flat because since it is an antigen test, it will not be sensitive enough (a limitation of antigen testing) so would simply be a pre-screening test before a more accurate PCR test is taken. This is even the use case description in the investor literature (May 22nd) of their closest competitor, Sona Nantech, who are already in POC test validation. AS hedged his bets - raise the money from placing now to fully fund their precision cancer treatment trials to completion ( a couple of years), before the final results of their POC test development and validation which are still a roll of the dice.
hehe sorry.
You forgot to put the PP as the sign off Gloria.
>Don’t get me wrong I think David is a very intelligent man. But when it comes to selling a business/product he just falls flat. >Just needs to be a bit more pushy.
Agreed. In that interview recently he was realistic and I suspect it quelled much hype.
Remember:
Product = Strong
Demand = decreasing
Sales = ???? (Clue - see above)
All the big firms got to where they are today by talking up their business their fantastic products. Talking down the competition. You have to really believe in your products and show that to the world. If you don’t you will just be missed out and walked over. We want other investors to see this and say wow this guy really knows where he going I’m putting all my money in GDR.
The point has, unsurprisingly, gone completely over your head.
To spell it out, he likely did not mention the amount of money he would be making from these tests so not to be seen as someone profiteering from the problem.
I know what profiteering means. Why are you invested here then. You could buy face masks and give them out for free.
I wasn’t expecting the CEO to lie. But let me tell you. He isn’t doing this job for free. He has his margins, so he knows what he needs to make $$££
It’s unfortunate you bring this profiteering thing into it. All shareholders are supporting the company to make money. Not to lose it.
Avct £2 to 130p
GDR £3 to 150p
Not really much difference. I’m invested in GDR and I’ll admit loyalty and sentiment is here. When the chips were down folks bought more to hold up the SP.
When the AVCT chips were down people cried quite literally and sold out. I don’t blame them, one guy lost 25k in two days. Think he was new to investing.
I really believe GDR need to get their **** in order and deliver. The people who stood by them deserve that much at least. They need to deliver timely RNS updates on what’s going on. Notice how AVCT dropped US investor in the RNS. That sort of spin is invaluable.
Tils do it, avct do it. Granted Tils has some work to do to catch up to the AVCT spin machine. But GDR lacks massively in this area.
I’m not dissing the test but just what their back office are doing.
You think he owes long term shareholders more than the 15 bagger since Feb?
You think II’s would subscribe to a price where there is no evidence that the price will hold at that level?
He didn't place at a quarter of the value, he agreed to a placing at a 10% discount. Just so happened the price surged afterwards. Not much he can do about that when the agreements are done and dusted.
Bit like AVCT guy. Look at their mcap compared to ours. Playing it safe don’t work.
Safy, use your loaf pal, how will he look to the general public if he starts talking about how GDR is going to make 60 to 80% margins?!
Ever heard of the word 'profiteering' sounds like you don't remember it's connotations if you have, and if you haven't, do go look it up
I think he just played it a bit aafe. It would be very easy for him to fall into the typical money grabbing profiteering pharma ceo if he said the wrong things and they wanted to push that agenda.
Lets hope the commerical teams can talk the talk
Look at my posts, I said this after the SKY interview and I got loads of abuse for it. He had a global platform and even when pushed he couldn’t bring himself to talk about the money.
Don’t get me wrong I think David is a very intelligent man. But when it comes to selling a business/product he just falls flat. Just needs to be a bit more pushy.
You have to fight off the competition.
I’m more of a TopCat ;0)

PP
And sales will come from that.
If you understand businesses you have to be able to show your top dog.
I think GDR had agreed the placing when the share price was around 80p and were forced to drop the rns at 9am as the share price was flying up, how bad would it have been if the share price had been around £3 for days and then announced an 80p placing. Dropping the rns when they did saved a lot of PI’s being spiked
If there are not any sales in June. The sp will implode.
Simple.
@You-know - I understand the view, but sales will do the talking.
If no sales annnounced in June, that would be more of a concern - but have faith in BudTime, he’s word has held so far on dates / news flow.
Planets got room for a few non-pushy CEO’s ;0)
