The bottom line is that there will always be issues with these end of life assets - the main thing is to regularly monitor with safety checks as Enquest has done with Thistle and act with caution.
Hopefully the fix won't be to expensive or take to long.
The impact in the short term seems to be fairly negligible simply because Enquest acted quickly - imagine what would have happened if the rig had collapsed in a force 12 gale.
Easy fix : Gorilla Glue and then a waterproof plaster .
Job done .
All,
Could I please clarify a couple of things? The Northern Producer exports oil independently from the Thistle, they share the same pipeline to Magnus, but Thistle being shutdown has no effect on the NP' s export route. Same with water injection, the NP injects water from it's own facilities. However the NP does depend on Thistle for import gas to gas-lift several wells, therefore loss of gas import will affect NP export rates. Good luck all.
Why are you on this forum wasting your time continually talking this down if you think the share is going to zero?
Is the reason so you can buy in cheap? If not that, then what? If nobody sells you can't buy.
People can see through posts.
NH...
That was v1 of the bypass, pre-purchasing Magnus...
It's now routed via Magnus and pipe flows from Thistle/NPR reversed. I don't know how much is impacted, is fair to wait for ENQ to say.
Cheers, MO
LOL, ignore that... Says WI not in use...
Description THISTLE TO DON 8IN WATER LINE
Diameter 8.00
Units inch
Fluid WATER
Status NOT IN USE
Exposed
Untrenched
Operator BP
Start Date 17/4/2000
Based on OGA site, It does appear that water injection to the Dons fields is provided via Thistle, so maybe will be affected.
Lots of interconnecting pipelines, but sure many have now been flowed in the opposite direction as part of bypass works.
Think ENQ need to issue statement to clarify extent of problems and time-scales to resolve.
Good luck all, MO
Unless the Data is out of date which i imagine it may be, its still shows NP going with Thistle. However it still shows Thistle Exporting to Dunlin and it appears from several RNS thats been resolved. What i dont know is if Enq put in a facility to keep producing if Thistle shutdown for any reason.
Fair enough NH... Will see what company ultimately reports...
Magnus to Ninian oil pipeline is the only route for oil from that cluster now, that's why they did a v2 on the Dunlin Bypass.
Agreed is like spaghetti pipes, so will see how much affected... Heather/Broom is a separate issue and could be back online in the near future, also need ENQ input...
Cheers all, is sucky regardless, MO
A small problem and not a "game changer".
In my exoerience these type of issues get resolved. All will be forgotten in a month !
Let the derampers have their day. My mediun/long term outlokk remains the same !!!
Matrix you may well be right. As anyone can check i havent posted on Enq for a while. Was a former employee and share holder. So obviously would like them to survive.

Thanks for that little upbeat snippet, have you adjusted your buy in price accordingly ?
NH...
Thistle is at the end of the daisy-chain, not in the middle...
Have a look at the OGA map, with pipes, fields etc...

Hey all... sucky news on Thistle, hopefully can sort a fix, sure will advise...
Suckier too, as came just after Dunlin bypass works.
Some comments about losing production from the Northern Producer and Dons etc...
From my understanding of the connectivity, I do not believe that is so !!! It will likely affect just Thistle and Deveron tie-back, need ENQ to confirm.
Sure ENQ will issue a statement.
Good luck all ENQers, MO
