Getagrip - great research - fantastic post
Although Dark say zero impact on business - with or without ML - I agree his wisdom and access to U.K. government and human / financial / tech capital is always helpful … why would U.K. want to send one of their top Cyber to be interrogated with bright lights in Usa … he is an Asset to U.K. !
I agree Nidec not in Tandem like a 2 seated bicycle
But Bank shares generally up today , Oil shares generally up … in sort of Tandem
So Cyber shares if similar valued companies might have some correlation like S , CRWD , and Dark … someone posted the news that CRWD is one of the favoured shares in Usa this year - Undervalued
Don’t forget - all of you here are Smart Guys , invested in Hypergrowth Cyber software leaders - I take my Hat off to all of you !
CharlesRixon888, the industries you name do not all move in tandem. If the whole market moves up or the whole market moves down, then these sectors may appear to be moving in tandem but they aren't.
If you can show me evidence that these do all move in tandem, and I don't mean the odd day or two, then I will eat my hat.

"ML - he still may make suggestions behind the scenes, he no longer has any formal influence o over the company other than as a ordinary shareholder with 15.5% (combined) of the voting rights. My perception is that the MT and the BoD are now well placed to carry on the batten without him."
I would hazard a guess that the majority of investors see Dark as being led by science technology. If the Board are happy to carry on the batten without ML they will lose half of their Science and Technology Committee, as there are only two members. The other member with ML is Professor Nick Jennings CB FREng.
If Science and Technology are fundamental to Dark, it is highly likely that meetings of the Science and Technology Committee, do not just involve a meeting between the two Committee members, at Dark's Head Office, and a short note of the meeting's minutes being passed to the CTO. It is much more likely that Poppy and a few other key executives make themselves available for the meeting. Something of a Board meeting without being classified as such.
With his wife ML together as an entity they are significant shareholders .At Cambridge University, Dr Lynch studied Information Sciences and received a Ph.D. and held a research fellowship in adaptive pattern recognition. "he no longer has any formal influence over the company" - come on Lending surely you can provide better analytical assessment than that!
ML as certainky on Boris's Science and Technology Committee, well that links him with Government at the highest level as well, and forms part of the Government link with Darktrace. Plus several key players at Dark who are" ex-security services":
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-members-of-the-council-for-science-and-technology-confirmed
Will ML have any links or input to Boris's new National Cyber Security Centre. You bet he will:
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-members-of-the-council-for-science-and-technology-confirmed
Will this be of interest to Dark? Of course it will.
The Court cases over the Autonomy "Fraud" may easily be an attempt to get ML over to the States & then come up with a plea bargain for him to work for US security services in return for not going to jail. Will the UK let him go? I very much doubt it - but the British do not have an impressive record with gifted genius mathematicians. Remember that Alan Turing was chemically castrated by a grateful nation as his reward for arguably bringing the Second World War to a speedier conclusion!
The ML court case is by no means straightforward. It is not just about fraudulent rights and wrongs!
Good point Oculus. It would be a disaster for ML and his family but would leave DT largely unaffected as the more sensationalist journalists go seeking fresh prey. The sub-editor chose "snake oil" as even the most serious news media still need click-bait to attract eyeballs and advertising. Many do not read the articles below the headlines/bylines.
The ramifications of extraditing ML would have a lot of unforeseen consequences and in fact might make many of our leading individuals in tech very loathe to live and work in the US. There are other markets. It probably already has an impact. Other countries aren't quite so obsequious as the UK is to the US and their demands that they rule this space.
I think a short negative if the decision goes against ML and a minor bump up if he wins, The losers here will be ML and family plus the US. I expect our image around the world to suffer too. A country recently led by Donald Trump taking the moral high ground. Give me a break!
ML has quite a lot of supporters and has done a lot of good for the UK. I'm one of them.
With reference to Shadow fall report, for all statements such as "snake oil" could only make a negative impact, the real facts are that their customer base is growing rapidly and customer satisfaction is on the increase within a sector that is in high demand and growing rapidly. In this instance it is worth remembering that their product only needs to be equally as good as as other options on the market to survive, a better sales, delivery and maintenance system will allow it to thrive on among others as we are seeing. As for ML verdict would it really make much of a difference to the company in the long run given that his only connection now is holding shares?
Look at U.K. bank shares , NatWest , Lloyd’s similar direction
Look at TravelShares airlines similar direction
Of course some industries have leaders and laggard.
General observation, and similar in Cyber
Similar industries shares do move in Tandem so Ndn71 had a good point
Airlines / Cruise shares
Oil shares
Bank shares
Green Energy
Crypto
Real Estate
Pharma
All these industries “ generally “ move in tandem to a degree,
To be 100% clear. I was discussing the topic, not you, or any of your posts! Only the comparisons to the US. ATB
Ndn likewise but comparing with Crowdstrike etc. is just plain crazy. We will never ever see valuations on multiples like that. Its the same with Bio Pharma; they go wild for those stocks too! Huge valuations that are never replicated here. It’s a US thing not a London thing! We are very, very much more conservative here, with our multiples!!! But yes, some may find it ‘interesting’ - but every day? Along with the Broker TP discussions - every day? No,I’m pretty sure it puts more people off this board than attracting them to interact. It’s like staring at a tap all day, waiting for a drip! Have a good day all. :)
Ijgs- absolutely. I’ve always said making comparisons with a massively different market is an act of desperation. The US and UK have very different views on how they value Tech, Parma etc. Companies. Why buy into a falling stock in a falling sector, when you can buy into the Banks, Travel etc. whose prospects look excellent this year? You wouldn’t. You’d wait-out and see how the Tech sector looks in the autumn. . .the articles are unfortunate, but the damage has been done for now. It will take many months to recover; so, it’s a matter of wether people will continue to watch in pain - or sell-up and move what’s left of their money, to another company, in the hope of recouping it. It’s not ideal, but it is what it is for DT.
IMHO the US markets are having very little impact on Darktrace. Investor sentiment and scare stories are. Who is going to buy into a company when they open their papers in the morning to read that the companies product is snake oil? Were there headline newspaper stories about Darktrace renewing a contract with a major airline or winning a major contract with one of Europe's largest media companies? Instead we get repeat after repeat of one analysts highly refutable negative opinions.
My humble view is Lloyd’s slightly down tomorrow and Dark slightly up :)
I did not say if Dark would correlate - was just saying other Cyber firms were doing well … so kindly not put words in the proverbial mouth - although I can see all your points above to some degree … no one knows for sure what will happen tomorrow and Friday and next Monday ! No one
Supply and Demand impacts shares on a daily basis according to many factors … Dark can do better !
Ndn - tomorrow? Up or Down? Just for laughs!
Darktrace SP has been down for 3 months, I guess Charles must have mentioned Crowdstrike and SentinelOne SP were going up like 100 times in that period. Have you not notice they have zero impact on Darktrace SP? While US market affects UK market but individual companies don't.
And neither will have ANY effect on DT tomorrow; which will NOT close up 7% or 14% - I 100% promise you! It is ridiculous to continualy keep comparing these companies, which are on two very different Exchanges, in two very different countries (when it comes to how they value Tech shares). It's like comparing an apple with a melon. They're both green - period! Charles, please, you are sounding just a little bit more desperate each day. That said, whatever fantasy world makes you feel better; but I'm not sure you're fooling anyone, other than yourself here!
Sentinel One 14 per cent Up
Crowdstrike 7 per cent
So far
