Young promising foreign players will always find Celtic an attractive proposition as European Football is guaranteed. The SPL has also proved to be an excellent stepping stone to the Premiership which is why the death of Celtic's only rivals leaves us as the only side with any prospect of providing that platform. Here we go for 10 in a row!
I'm sorry but you're overlooking the historical facts. Crowds of 55k+ were the exception and crowds averaging 40-45k are the norm. Claims of 32k are way off the mark, I've attended every home league game and can only think of one where the crowd looked less than 40k (the Dundee match where concession ST were not available. The current boards strategy is to invest in young promising talent using one of the best scouting set ups in the UK. It has yielded a profit in Ki and will undoubtedly yield a significant profit in the case of Wanyama and Hooper. I would be more concerned if the only financial driver of a football club was ST money as that will always have a ceiling. For us the core support will remain steady at 40k plus, the boards strategy will attempt to fill the void left by the 10k or so who have decided not to renew over the past 5 seasons.
I might not have made myself clear. I was looking at Celtics performance mainly. Of course sevco have a lower price, perhaps I shouldnt have not even refered to it. My point was that if there is no CL next season, I think many players might look to move on unless the crowds turn up for SPL games - forget Sevco for now. Lets just focus on Celtic. I think its fair to assume that STs will drop to around 37k next season (this is in line with the recent trend) - this is exceptionally poor, exceptionally. As we have seen, more often than not only 32k turn up. Thats my warning, no CL next season and not only will it be a loss of the major bonus - I guarantee it will put downward pressure on ST sales too. As tims, we should not make the same mistakes the OldCo fans made over the years - thinking everything was grand and that the refs/system/white knight would help them. There is a very clear danger that next year could be a major let down re our STs. Thats my main point. the Celtic fans have been v v v poor this season, some should be ashamed of themselves. You dont really get a pat on the back for attending a CL match - you get a pat on the back for turning up on a cold wednesday to watch Dundee.
Here are some basic facts for you. Celtic have sold somewhere in the region of 39k season tickets at an average cost of £400. Sevco have sold 38k at an average cost of £200. Do you see what I'm getting at here. The average league attendances this season are almost identical, the startling difference is in the income this generates for either club. When Celtic fill their 60k seater on CL nights (which they'll have a crack at for the next 5 seasons minimum) then they income goes through the roof I don't remember attendances being a hot topic when Celtic Park regularly had 10k more supporters attending each week, nor do I recall supporters of the now deceased Rangers FC complaining about the paltry 28k that turned up for their last ever Champions League match against Malmo. 40k has historically been the average for Celtic, for the dead Rangers it was much the same. In years to come Celtic will still average 40k and for the next couple of seasons Scotland's newest club will enjoy similar attendances (though significantly less income). For it's a grand OLD team to play for!!!
Celtic fans may bury their heads in the sand on this issue, but the league attendances have frankly been abysmal. If unfortunately Celtic dont make the CL next seasomn, the financials will be veruy poor indeed. As the leagues is celtics next season anyway I do not expect to see a dramatic increase in attendance. So, financially, expect a major roller coaster if Celtic dont qualify. Theres 3 qualyfying games, I think, even without wanyama and ghooper, they shoud negotiate the first 2, the 3rd game could be very hard though. Grantyed if celtic come through them, they will pocket considerable gate receipts etc. So, my view of the value of the company is that this scenario is allowed for in the current Valuation - namely a fall off in profits to zero . But if they do qualify again, and pocket 20 m for some players and allow the scouts to do their stuff - the numbers could be good again. but......many plyers might reconsider their positions due to the shocking home attendances. all things been considered, the Rangers/Sevco are getting great numbers and will get better next season. Celtic fans cannot blame the board for the attendances, the ST prices arent bad and indeed 42,000 were sold, yet on 32,ooo turn up. so, if celtic fans want to push on - they have to make playing in CP attractive to players, esp if the CL doesnt come around again. On the whole, i still think the company is undervalued given the manager/scouts/players assets and reasonable chances of qualification for Cl over next few years.
The lack of competition in the SPL hasn't had the detrimental effect many predicted, indeed the balance sheet goes from strength to strength. Looking ahead it would appear that we are guaranteed a crack at CL football for the next 3 seasons and given the financial results released by Scotland's newest club yesterday it looks as though that dominance could continue for several years after that. A European league can't be ruled out, but I'd imagine that would sometime in the next decade so for now domestic dominance and CL consolidation will be the financial drivers
19 points clear at top of league with 33 to play for before £2.55m cheque arrives for winning the league.
Ticking along nicely. 65+ by end of week. 70+ by end of season Would be great if reached league points total
Can't understand why this is not 65p+. Bumper year for trading figures with lots more to come.
Tonight brings an end to the Champions League run, but the financial compensation far outweighs the disappointment of defeat. It's remarkable to think that £15m minimum is guaranteed each season. It's such a shame that Glasgow's 2nd club died last year. :;())))))))))))))
been told by the same source that told me that the huns were going to the wall 2 years before it happened, has just told me that there are 'major structural problems' in the main stand at the hunnery!!!!!....you heard it here first!!! my source is VERY close to the pulse at CFC and doesn't come out with anything unless he knows it's correct!! makes you wonder why they're desperate to get more seats in..........???? HAIL HAIL
Well Bob, there goes that £7million debt you have been on about. But NO! we are still in debt to the tune of £130,000. Do you think the company can sustain such high levels. Tonights game will see nearly 60,000 spectators paying an average of £40 per head(being conservative) brining in over £2.4million, add to that merchandise, hospitality,TV rights,Champions League cut etc etc and you can see how the Champions League is a cash cow. Celtic PLC have announced that in the interim figures, they have still to factor in the Champions League money which will be included in the final accounts. Begining to make that £22million share issue on the south of Glasgow look like chicken feed. This share is a banker over the next 2-3 year. DYOR. Hail Hail The Celts are here
Just to say that the bhoys are about to make history once again , This SP will start to move only in one direction , to the top of the table ,,,,a steel at this price ....
The hoops!
Welcome back, your timing is impeccable. Interim report just in, turnover UP by 71%, net debt DOWN by £7m to 0.13m, and wait for it...... Champions League points and media income not included, with a last 16 money spinner still to come. I thought you would find it hard to embarrass yourself further, but you've only gone and done it. Good luck with your investment in Scotland's newest clubs holding company and that looming winding up order. Lol, lol, lol, pmsl!!!!!!!!!!!
Bob You talk a load of Lilian Gish. You are hung up on the £7.2 million debt declared last year. Look at the profits for this year which will blow all debts out the water. Last year Ki was sold for £7million just after accounts were published, take into account money earned this year from Champions League, Premier League, Scottish Cup, League Cup semi-final, T.V , merchandise etc etc and £7.2million will be long forgotten. Celtic in line to make in excess of £25million profit this year
never forget Celtic were 3 hours from liquidation until wee fergus came in and bailed them out , cancelled all plans for a new stadium and put all the saved cash in a biscuit tin. . put the club back on a debt free footing then sold the fans shares. great idea .(sounds familiar). then surprise he walked away as he said he would to be fair with 30 million profit in his hip,,i admired him for all he did to save the club and most still do... now does that all sound familiar with what is happening at the other end with rfc yes exactly the same . the only sad thing is why are ccp now in £7.2 million debt. after all that !!! note all the talk of selling hooper wanyama in the window only some bids for hooper no interest for wanyama and after last performance not likely to be so where is all the money coming from now to clear the debt promised by some on here after the transfer window .. shares going back down to the level as are the other halfs no interest in this forum from so called investors only 3 posts since 28th january and few share dealings explains why this share has no interest and is going down ..
Why would anyone want to get out of this now?Wwhere do you think this will be if Celtic beat Juventus to progress? Preference shares with 6% dividend reinvested in Script scheme doesn't look so stupid now. Onwards and upwards
12 points clearvat top of league, next round Scottish cup, big 2 games against Juventus all point to extra millions piling in this month. This share is defiately underpriced at 55p looking at the figures it should be nearer 75p-£1. Accounts for this year are very healthy with lots of interest in players in the summer market after the European campaign. £7m for Hooper. £7-9m for Wanyama
Not making the final of the League Cup will mean Celtic forgo the chance to earn an additonal c. £220k + gate money from the final, so not a major hit for revenue, given the success in other competitions. More disappointing is that the chance for a "Historic Treble" has gone, again. Celtic are still leading the league, in the Scottish Cup and the lucrative Champions League group stages, though in truth Celtic's progression in the CL will be a tough ask.
Your managers record is terrible. Always fails on the big occasion.
This years profits should be up around £33million. Yippee!!!. Without any league reconstruction will be in Champions League for foreseeable future. Money money money
Meaow!!!!
HAD a bike - till they paid Lizzy her dues :) Bit embarrasing for the old club as well eh ? Inviting all those soldiers to match days to fill the stadium while ripping of their taxes ( soldiers wages ) Deary me !
Well done on your profit - that's what it's all about. If your looking for another share may I suggest a short on RFC... I have been short on them since 92p ( as my posts show ) - looking good for me :) Bit surprised about your lack of knowledge Re: CCP accounts - I suppose news gets through a bit slow to Bainsford :) Not that the two clubs are the same - Celtic are a long standing company with a 125 year history, RFC ( ? ) Sevco ? are a new start - most new businesses fold in the first year - hence my short :) They don't have the family silver to sell anymore - at least the Tic have the scrap value of old big ears :) - RFC had a bike in their trophy room - lol... GLA :) PS - All friendly advice mate - I notice you don't even reasearch companies too well by your other posts ( PYC - LOL )
