"As others have said (which you havent answered by the way) "quoting the highest rates doesnt make you right" and its a very valid point, that you havent answered. Why is that? and why do you think all doctors live "in nice houses in nice areas", when others tell you differently?"
In one post I said auxilliaries are the ones most in need of a good pay rise, since they are the lowest paid and tend to get the dirty jobs. Qualified Nurses have good opportunities to climb the career ladder and earn more money than I have in my career, as per the examples in the links.
I don't know any Doctors personally, but I've lived near a few over the years, and they all had bigger houses than me, and better cars, and looked like they were doing ok. Junior Doctors have good career prospects and can look forward to a good wage as they progress in their careers. Are you suggesting I'm wrong in thinking Doctors are well paid?
Just why wouldnt a 'know it all' be open about sitting on losses and posting opinions?
All i see from your posts, is the insistance you are right each time.
As others have said (which you havent answered by the way) "quoting the highest rates doesnt make you right" and its a very valid point, that you havent answered. Why is that? and why do you think all doctors live "in nice houses in nice areas", when others tell you differently?
"Seems to think he knows it all, on quite a few boards"
Your words not mine, a know it all wouldn't be open about sitting on paper losses. I post honestly about my investment choices, post my honest opinions. As it stands I'm doing ok, I expect my paper losses will become gains in the next year or two, and I'll reap the rewards of dividend reinvestment once I move into the black; Not that I have any plans to sell in the foreseeable future, except as part of Bed Isa'ing the stocks in the standard sharedealing accounts.
What's rattled your cage today?
Have to say it makes me wonder why theselfmappointed 'genius' Fleccy isnt running the country.
Seems to think he knows it all, on quite a few boards.
Underwater on all his stocks though, go figure
Since you have gone to the considerable trouble to research the figures on nurses pay, I assume you know the percentage that are Band 5/6 or above ? Quoting the figures of the highest rates doesn’t make you right. Perhaps you have already worked the figures for teachers ?
I couldn’t have said that better.
"In my opinion it’s not what you earn !! But what you do with it , when you’ve got it !! Thanks R"
Spot on Richard, it's a case of cut your cloth accordingly, live within your means. We live in a society that wants everything, and they want it yesterday.
In my opinion it’s not what you earn !! But what you do with it , when you’ve got it !! Thanks R
"The average accident emergency nurse salary in the United Kingdom is £48,555 per year or £24.90 per hour. Entry level positions start at £34,628 per year while most experienced workers make up to £73,125 per year."

"My son is a doctor and he rents also"
No doubt he'll be owning/living in an extremely nice property, in an exclusive area, as his career progresses.
"Fleccy I don’t believe your example is consistent with either profession. My daughter is a teacher and she certainly can’t afford property. My wife is an ex nurse and she tells me many are struggling to make ends meet in her experience."
According to this article, the starting pay for a nurse is £25,655, with the average nurse earning £33,000 and £35,000.
https://www.nurses.co.uk/blog/a-quick-overview-of-nurses--salaries-in-the-uk-in-2022/
The bands are:
Band 5: £25,655 to £31,534
Band 6: £32,306 to £39,027
Band 7: £40,057 to £45,839
Band 8a: £47,126 to 53,219
Band 8b: £54,764 to £63,861
Band 8c: £65,664 to £75,874
Band 8d: £78,192 to £90,387
Band 9: £93,735 to £108,075
So a band 9 Nurse can earn up to £108,000, not bad at all, and agency Nurses can be higher than average Nurses pay.
"Band 8c/9 – Consultant Level Nurse or Director of Nursing
The final band is Band 8c/9 which is to work as a Consultant Nurse; to do so, you’ll need to be an expert within your field. This can only be evidenced through experience and study. Like Consultants in any other industry, Consultant Nurses will be tasked with helping to shape high-level decision-making.
Reaching this level will require a career-long pursuit of specialist skills and qualifications to supplement the vocational experience. Band 8c/9 nursing salaries start from £91,004 and go up to £104,927."

Teachers can earn anywhere from £18,419 for an unqualified teacher, up to £125,098 for a leadership/head teacher
https://www.educationtay.com/teacher-pay-scale-uk/
Clearly some who show great ability, or ambition, will climb to the higher paid roles, as true as any career progression. The pay scales, within teaching and Nursing, are easily comparable with, and in most cases exceed, Engineering pay within the Telecommunications industry. When I met my Wife to be, she worked as an assistant in a superannuation department for the NHS, and regularly recieved flack from irate nurses complaining about the pension contributions removed from their wages, when they earned far more than her; She earned approximately £2,800, and the student nurses who frequently complained were earning around £3,000, with Nursing sisters on approximately £7,000, this was around 1981.
The icing on the cake is that Nurses can also do agency work as well as their full time NHS role. My wife's friend's daughter in law does agency work in the cosmetic surgery industry, as well as working as as fulfilling her role as an Accident and emergency Nurse at Band 8c apparently.

Is it any wonder that my wife's friends son drives a Tesla?
As part of my contract of employment, I was forbidden from working in other jobs, even during holidays.
Fleccy I don’t believe your example is consistent with either profession. My daughter is a teacher and she certainly can’t afford property. My wife is an ex nurse and she tells me many are struggling to make ends meet in her experience. My son is a doctor and he rents also.
"Fleccy if you think teachers and nurses are doing ok, you are completely deluded"
My wife's friends son is a teacher, and his wife is a nurse; They own a house, and he changes his car every couple of years, his current car is a Tesla. They're doing very well.
At long last
I have flushed out fleccy's secret lover , It was Mandy all along, (we all kinda knew it )
There is nothing more uplifting then two Tories coming out of the closet together
Its a beautiful thing true love
Lets hope Mandy your coming out moment will make you a little bit less bitter and twisted. And a lot less consumed with self loathing. I know that's been a challenge you have had to contend with for many decades now
The multi faith religious wing of the CWU are preying for you little feller
Take care Manders
Fleccy if you think teachers and nurses are doing ok, you are completely deluded
Phatz, next time you have the urge to defecate - which is probably two or three times day, considering your penchant for cheap, gassy beer and unbearably hot curries - try squeezing your head. It might not clear their air. However, it could possibly free up some of the little grey matter you have to start thinking along normal lines. On second thoughts, maybe it won't. I reckon you're too far gone, you saddo.
"Once again he’s called the wrong option with the RMT. Now it appears the Teachers, NHS, British Airways, BT even Barristers are going to be taking industrial action at a similar time."
The RMT strike isn't going so well, with working from home reducing the impact.
Teachers are on to a good thing, with the amount of paid holidays they get. I can't imagine they'll want unpaid holidays too, maybe they'll strike during the summer holidays.
When it comes to the NHS, the Government should do what BT's doing and give a flat rate rise, since Doctors & qualified nurses aren't badly paid anyway. It's the auxiliaries who do all the dirty jobs like cleaning up, and wiping ar5es, they deserve a better pay rise.
British Airways is a Spanish company, nothing to do with the UK Government.
BT's pay offer seems fair to me. If it was me I'd take what's on offer and vote against striking.
Barristers earn a fortune, they should wind their necks in and be thankful they're in a well paid profession, in my opinion.
Bluffer Johnson tried to have his Churchill moment V sign when he flew to Ukraine before the war started and was phoning Putin to get him to stop but he failed.. He’s now going full Thatcher by taking on the RMT and hoping he brings them down.
Unfortunately, he’s misread the feeling of the nation. His beligerence during the party gate affair and his downright cheek in trying to change the rules in the Owen Patterson scandal has woken the general public up to his lack of standards.
Instead of focusing on running the country he’s constantly fighting off one negative after another.
Once again he’s called the wrong option with the RMT. Now it appears the Teachers, NHS, British Airways, BT even Barristers are going to be taking industrial action at a similar time. Almost a General strike. Maybe even that will happen.
His chief of ethics has resigned twice, chairman of the party resigned too. He won’t fall in his sword though. He can’t afford too. He’s morally, politically and financially bankrupt.
TRAITOR
Don’t use Churchill in this Mandy, a man with Gallipoli and Irelands blood on his hands. A man who crossed the floor in the House of Commons when it suited him. Johnson is morally and ethically corrupt - you must know that.
You think Sky news want rid of him ? Who owns that company ?
Better get used to it Steve, because if disloyal Tories fatally wound Boris, the nightmare will begin. Why do you think everyone is calling for his head? Because the opposition, including the BBC and Sky News, know he’s our modern-day Churchill. And look at the despicable way the country treated him after WW2!
My friends work in Public Transport - they earn £9.90 and hour - overtime is paid at £9.90 and hour. None of them use a food bank .
As a retired BT employee of 37 years I now think I was very lucky to have been so well paid during my time at BT.
These are not low wages compared to the rest of similar skilled workers.
They just are just being told they are.
They are all free to leave and work elsewhere if the rewards are better and the grass is greener.
Anyone voting for strike action will have been brainwashed- £1500 a head is a real gift. GLA
phat - have you any idea how stupid and pathetic you sound ?
heaven help us if you are the future.
" plus Phil gave £650k to charity that year, all good by me."
Yes Larry we know Jansen gives to charity , he has just set up the BT foodbank (sorry commnitEE Pantry)to feed poorly paid BT workers
As the This is Money article was written 27 May 2021 it is fair to say that it relates to year ending March 2021, whereas the Mirror article states last year which is year ending March 2022
