Buyers will be running riot tomorrow as the feeding frenzy starts
Definitely not a good time to be trading BMN, unless of course you don’t mind being left out of the Massive Uplift in SP.
A Famous Quote From Warren Buffet
“Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful." Time and again, the value investor has used this philosophy to pounce on opportunities.
Now Is The Time To Be Greedy, silence your demons (Fear) and take advantage of this great buying opportunity.
THIS IS THE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY OF OUR LIFETIME ( IMHO )
In It To Win It .... Snooze You Definitely Lose
The Future Is Bright ~ The Future Is BMN
Only 30... we need x 5
We sell lots of vanadium to whoever does win it.
+30% duh
Bassguy what happens to sp if we don’t win the tender?
I agree. Exciting times ahead
Well Daviddb... It is over $400m and anyone thinking politics is no part is not paying attention.
That said... Even if say 25% came our way, remember the vanadium/electrolyte will be 35-45%...0and that is our bit really... The vanadium we would sell anyway so just the electrolyte value add.
The real value is a showcase
This why BE has no value attached, we just don't know what it will bring in, add a consortium and we dont know how this is set up and the spoils divided.
Now the tender is in I would appreciate an update on how Bushveld intend to offer BE to the target audience and some projected ballpark revenues based on different scenarios. This would make the market sit up and look in my opinion.
I dont expect a huge proportion of the tenders to go our way at all but am happy to be surprised. FM dis mention project development in the last interview so that does allow scope for say three different VRFB makers (can you name the three) to be coordinates through BE with us supplying the Vanadium, but I guess not all the electrolyte from the 200mw plant. There are still many gaps in the story
*if more than 20% local content
Faramog, in your reasoning you are right of course. And I do sincerely hope we win a part of it. It would also help to strengthen next tenders (as there are likely to be experience requirements as well).
It is just that when I was reading the Q&A's of the tenders, that was one specific questions. Do you get a bonus of more than 20%.
New posters bringing 'balance' and uksteve agreeing with them. What a shocker.
Any decent chunk of the Eskom contract just adds to the current trend towards VRFB as the rising technology.
If you think it is just on numbers.. it is not... The aim of the WB investment is to stabilise and improve Eskom and SA.. SA has chronic unemployment
If you think nothing will go to a consortium generating 70%+ content while developing a SA led world industry then sorry... You have no idea
*from Fortune
In the Eskom there is requirement of minimum 20% local content. There is no bonus for the highest local content. If VRFB is the chosen option, then it seems logic we are part of the Joint Venture that wins it.
It is difficult to say without seeing the whole specs, but the requirement that it should run for 20 years might favour the VRFB. However there are no certainties (only a small smile for Fortune in the last interview).
Lindn, bang on. Techrob agree,.
Its important to manage expectations here, we will be part of a consortium so should we succeed in winning any of the seven tenders the spoils will be shared. We don’t know on what basic and what share we could expect. I personally would like to see us expand out into other areas, i.e. non-Eskom which have proved elusive so far, so will not be too disappointed should we only get one or two bites of the Eskom cherry.
We were never going to get the lot, but as the bid with the highest local content by far, and large potential job and skill creation, I find it just improbable our consortium does not get a good chunk.
As other posters over the past 18 months have detailed and noted, rather a lot has been lined up that 'surprise surprise' fits the requirements like a glove.
TechyRob, quite right - your comment is a note of sanity in the hubbub.
There is no guarantee of what might happen with Eskom, as I noted in a post a week or two ago.
Hopefully BMN will get a slice of the action, but let's not get over-optimistic and allow the naysayers a field day if it doesn't all go our way on this occasion. Likewise, I'm not sure it's a great idea to read too much into a smile.
Fortune has sincerely said in a few interviews I’ve seen now that he doesn’t expect to win all the awards they bid for, but BMN are highly likely to be consistently involved at some, or many, stages of value chain so long as VRBs are continued to be selected as a battery solution.
I don’t believe fortune has a clue whether or not they will be successful on Eskom so I don’t read into his smiles too much in this regard. History does however suggest the man delivers, and I trust they’ve put in an absolutely cracking Eskom bid and blown the doors off many of the criteria. For that reason I suspect he’s highly confident, and will have a right to be.
The set target date for the winner/s of package one to be announced is 31/12/20. They said the decision may or may not be published earlier ... late November/December. That was stated before the tender applications closure date was extended ... from 30/9/20 to 21/10/20. That has now closed and there has been no new statement issued regarding the winners publication date for that package.
The tender dates for the two other packages have also closed and carries a 21/1/21 winners publication target date.
The separate tender has a winners publication announcement target date set as ... 21/12/20
Mogwhy. Yes it was package one, but I’m not aware any dates have been brought forward. The submission for tender dates did slip by a few weeks on a couple of occasions and finally expired a few days ago.
Ill be honest I thought it was End Dec / Jan
That was for package 1.
Also note that the response was before the tender date was extended.
So news probably in December rather than November.
Which Eskom tender is the November/December dates referring to? My understanding is that the main tenders were broken down into seven parts/segments, the first to be announced the end of December, the remaining six at the end of January. I’m aware that Eskom have also other tenders and I think that any earlier dates are relevant to those. Happy to be corrected.
