Just did my bed & ISA on Barclays - both showing as sells at 14.04 - 146,288 & 146,520
Ludeck please read the post before jumping in, nobody mentioned it making sense, the facility is not available on the platform due to the current situation and staffing problems, totally understandable, as for the spread that's partly why I stipulated 13.8 in the hope of buying back in lower however it is a worry that it might be a one way street and won't be able to buy as Cozza99 already mentioned. Bit of a gamble in strange times.
Hi Rej, that's how all providers I know of would execute a Bed & ISA. Sell your investments, then deposit the 20K or however much comes back as the proceeds from your trade, into the ISA. Funds can take much longer to trade than shares, so if your Bed is invested in mutual funds, these will have to be sold, and the trades cleared, and the funds then deposited in your ISA. Share trades as we all know are usually executed in milliseconds.
Vauch, depends on your provider. All large providers such as AJ Bell, Aviva, etc, have adapted relatively well to homeworking, and at my place too we're all doing business as usual from home. If they told you in the run up to the new tax year they are unable to process Bed & ISAs, it seems they haven't responded well or quickly to the changing conditions.
if the platform boys can be in the office and are able to ring up their MM mates to arrange a B&I then it does seem remarkable that they are unable to do the same from the comfort of their spare bedroom.
Clones, I am not sure. I believe they'll max it out and leave the remainder as cash balance to spend outside of it
I'd chase that up, they've cost you money.
Over 3 days on ii and still have not executed my bed and isa. During that time value has gone from c. £18k to over £25k so not sure how that will work with ISA limit being £20k?
i managed to do my halifax BED & ISA yesterday without any problems. Had to wait nearly 25 mins for them to pick up the phone, but when they did it was fine. So not sure why they are saying they can't do it?
I was told most staff are working from home and they would no be able to do bed and isa trades for the foreseeable future
2 days is ridiculous.
Rej. me also and lost near 6k in the proses sold 160k on Monday the see a massive rise on Wednesday have only managed to transfer funds today.
but hay ho it will be multiples of this at some point and my largest holding now is in my ISA
How much do you guys pay a year for your Stocks & Shares ISA? Halifax only charge £14 or so
Rej23 - that is unacceptable - tell them that you are considering moving your account to AJ Bell
I’m not happy with HL on this.
Other platforms can do it.
They told me I need to sell, wait 2 days for the money to clear, then but back.
A lot can happen in 2 days!
HI LIION
I am also with HL and ready to B&I but am a bit worried that I might get ripped off doing the transaction myself. Concerned that I might have trouble buying back after selling! Let us know how you get on please?
Why would anyone think it makes sense to do it manually? Given the spread, you are always going to lose out. Doing it as an official B&I should be costing you no more than 50 quid, which I am sure is a lot less than you're going to lose buying and selling more than 10ks worth of shares at open market prices.
If you think this is the lowest this share price is going to be for the rest of the financial year and it's just about to jump then maybe... but really?!?
FYI - it worked fine with Halifax yesterday.
Just contacted HL they have suspended B&I due to current situation. Decided to go ahead manually @13.8 but unable to sell.
Obviously to buy back in later today.
