Yeah exactly instead of seeing the bigger picture , selling shares to cover bi weekly grocery shop(250euro profit) is really short sighted. Wait and Buy a new house or Car think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still holding shares bought for 1.30-1.63 !!!!!!!! ?? ??
Well done fatboy with the 200 euro net profit. Silverhorse will likely claim commission for his advice but keep it for a staycation
4.70. Another of your precise forecasts Silver Horse
Selling this share is like throwing money to the wind!
Sensational silverhorse
This share is fixated to do one thing now - keep going up simple truth. FBS - Forget about 4.70 - very short term 5.20 - the way things are going 6.50 yearend - but the amazing year will be summer 2022
One should always question oneself...sometimes I agree , over times I have huge arguments with myself..I can be right and wrong
Silverhorse. Interested in your thoughts on this share with a 2 year timeframe including breakdown of risks and positives?
John - You got greedy and bought GGP with the BIRG sale - it did not work out to plan. Its a risky game
Stringent EU measures in relation to Irish banking in particular has forced Irish banks to have much higher capital reserves than other EU banks owing to the last banking debacle of 2008/2009.
And rightly so!
This makes BOI and AIB very safe and secure with very solid bank reserves. In addition to this, Ulster Bank and KBC are leaving the Irish Market so this only strengthens the hand of these two pillar banks.
I said that OK. I meant the current SP was more or less half that of BIRG. I wasn't talking about actual capital.
Both bank shares will come close to doubling over time from their current SP especially when dividends are announced...
The Irish economy us built around Biotech, Pharma and IT..... Unaffected by Covid....bolstered in fact... Irish people have huge savings... Irish Bank shares were low owing to 1. Last banking debacle 2. Perception 3. The unknown.
Irish banks have the highest capital reserves of any other bank in the EU in terms of size... Very solid.
Hold and buy.
Looking positive . brushville - Go easy on john - he sold a big chuck here last x max thinking there would be no deal. live and learn!
No fighting ladies.
It wasn’t me that said it.
It was Fontenoy yesterday if you took the trouble to read the posts. Wakey wakey John.
Wow John that is pretty powerful stuff.
The higher the share price the greater the market cap. Did you figure that out by yourself?
I was highlighting the comment which said AIB was cheap at half the price of BOI which is totally false.
If you want to complicate things that is fine.
Thanks for the history lesson nonetheless..........yawn
IR - Remember the 2million buy 4.05!
Date on which the threshold was crossed or reached:
16/04/2021 That was obis last buy share price was near 4.40 - I bet they bought and sold a few times like me then bought back
The stockmarket is a strange old game - bank of ireland book value 7p + the share price should be over that. My house is valued say 500k but john will only give my 300k cash - no thanks. The true potential valuation is around 11euros
I'm sure it does imply that alright. If I had that many shares as an institutional investor I would also vaguely "imply" (but not make a false claim) that my average price was closer to the current market share price too even if my real average was €2.50. I have plenty of very wealthy friends/business associates and I've have ever had one of them tell me straight out that they are making a fortune in business but will always nod and say that Business is not bad etc. When I look at their books for business reasons/credit checks etc they more than often turn out to be doing extremely well.
The article in the Indo seems to imply that it has been a recent accumulation. “now will eventually prove to have been a good time to buy””
Very positive I would have thought.
It would be very interesting to know what their average price is for birg.... when did they start acquiring shares in birg, starting pre covid or all on the cheap post covid/brexit uncertainty... doubt the 31m shares that they have acquired were in the last few weeks.
Positive news no matter what way you look at it. Great to see big institutions showing their support, always helps move an s.p North. GLA.
John Hume - Fully aware of how the market cap is calculated. AIB bas about 3 times more shareS in issue than BOI
Fontenoys ''AIB is also a great bet at half the price of BIRG'' didn't make any sense.
I believe BOI should have about the same valuation as AIB which would be equivalent to north of €6.00.
For some reason the BOI always seems to struggle. Hopefully this will change in the short term.
That was the point I was making. I don't believe what I said was too hard to understand.
Apologies if it was lost in translation.
My point 2 brushville - fontenoy probably holds AIB 4euros. BIRG is a golden nugget - obis buying now is a smart move 50% upside easy - FBS be careful selling !
Fontenoy - its the Market Capitalisation which is reflective of the value not the share price. AIB is valued at circa 35% more than BOI on current Market Caps. Hopefully BOI will make up some ground as progress is made on KBC/Davy/Dividend/Share Buyback. The July H1 results and update will hopefully get the BOI valuation closer to AIB. If so we would be looking at something north of €6.00
Huld!!!!!!!!!! - Move funds into UFO am out of funds at the moment wanted to get another million soon
