The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Back in at 5.85.....10,000 euros'.... Worth
Fatboyslims,
You won't believe it but I have just done the same ten minutes ago.
I wanted to sell 750 shares at 5.73 euro (had a stop loss at 5.79 but it didn't trigger.... Don't know why). but bought instead by mistake.... sickened.... Plus the stamp duty on BIRG is very high....
I am just stating the inevitable.
Many of you have never been to the Ukraine. I have. Very cultured people who are in general pro-EU.
However, the country is by far the most corrupt in 'Europe'.... it stinks to the high heavens of corruption.
Average person lives on about 200-300 euro max per month.
The Politicians would put ours to shame in terms of their levels of corruption and nepotism.
Horrendous.
Kiev is a beautiful city. Putin would not hesitate one second in destroying it.
The Ukrainians resisted for the last 10 days or so.... but they are only prolonging the inevitable unfortunately.
Great to see the EU opening its doors to those fleeing.... Ireland may take up to 100,000 refugees, visa free...the UK still has a visa requirement in place..... good old perfidious Albion!! Full of bluster and Bull as per usual.
Oh Yeah??
Ask the people of Ireland and many countries in South and WEST Africa this question.
Brits no longer a World Power... a Middle power at best.. so cannot say boo to anybody anymore or otherwise be rolled over....
Remember the first concentration camps were developed in SOUTH Africa... Not in Nazi Germany.
Oh really Charlie??
And I suppose the same goes for the countless genocides caused throughout Africa, India and Ireland, may I add, by the advancing and invading British soldiers???
Brave were they???or were these countries just easy targets and the only ones your troops could beat and whose populations they could murder and wipe out ????
History says otherwise.
If it wasn't for the little boats saving the hundreds of thousands of British troops at Dunkirk when they scarpered with their tails between their legs, they would have lost WW2 also. The English channel saved them.
Thank God for the the Americans in this case. They saved their butt.
The Ukraine has no choice but to surrender.
The British surrendered to the Japanese (250,000 of them) in 1942 without firing a shot.
The British surrendered to the French in Hastings thus beginning hundreds of years of French occupation and culminating in the hundred years war - which England lost at the battle of Castillon.
The Brits surrendered to the American/French forces in the war of Independance in 1783 under the Treaty of Paris.
So there is no shame per se in surrendering... Brits well used to it.
When the Russians tried to install nuclear warheads in Cuba in 1962, very close of course to the good oul US, Kennedy forced the Russians to remove them or to prepare for war.
So, the US doesn't want 'enemy' missiles close to their shores... well I imagine that Russia is adopting a similar stance with Ukraine.
The US cannot have it both ways!!
Silvers horse,
I agree. The US are stoking the fire and loving this situation. They are the only ones to gain from this.
The US have been provoking and provoking Russia for years over NATO and now look at the result!!
They also have a lot to answer for.
We need a ceasefire or a quick Ukrainian surrender. Nothing else will settle the markets.
What we need now is a ceasefire and/or a Ukrainian surrender.
The US have a lot to answer for here as well as Putin.
Constantly pushing other countries in Europe bordering Russia to join NATO.....
Now look at the crap we are in... Doesnt affect the US though...
There have been plenty of bullies in history the likes of Cromwell, Churchill (starved 4 million Bengalese to death in 1943 to help 'the British cause,) Napoleon, Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, George W Bush,....
The British stamped and raped and pillaged many countries in Africa not to mention India and was directly involved in the quasi extermination of the Maori/ Aborigene people.... And then the genocide in Ireland... The famous famine of 1847-50.... deprive the Irish of food, ship all the grain to England and millions will die of malnutrition, cold and disease.... which they did.
People in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.
Observe2, you are dead right on that score.
A friend of mine uesd to go very regularly to the Ukraine and he found it to be the most corrupt European country he ever visited.
What Politician do you know who owns or part owns banks, casinos, major oil companies while the rest of the population live on bread crumbs??
Having said that it is a matter for the Ukrainians to decide whether they want to keep this rotten system in place and not Vlad!
However I do agree with Putin on one major theme however. This neo-liberalism and Woke movement has gone way too far. Too many extremist groups in the West with the LGBTQ+++++being one of the worst. Do as you please in the privacy of your own home but stop shoving it down other people's throats.... in your face politics. Do we have straight pride marches?? A straight flag?? An in your face Straight movement similar to the LGBTQ++ one??
And what about one's religious beliefs in this respect?? Should that not be taken into account or is religion in itself a fascist concept?? In many countries now you are nearly being forced to underwrite and embrace the LGBTQ movement. Well I don't yet one of my best friends is openly gay.
It has come to a point now whereby a misplaced comment or non-intentional misplaced comment could land you in court or lead to you losing your job and livelihood.
And as for this transgender charade, this IMO is pure lunacy. You are born a man or a woman, end of. One may have feminine or masculine traits or tendancies as the case may be but so what??
Democracy is great but when it subverts society as a result of extremist groups actions, then we have to take a look at it again and ask ourselves when and where is it going to end???
The West has actively endorsed and promoted the feminisation of men... as if it is something to be ashamed of.
At least Eastern Europe does engage in this folly.
Rant over: I stand with Ukraine.
Macron a better diplomat than that bog brush head you call Johnson.
The biggest surrender on record is to the Japanese in 1942 Singapore... 350,000 Brits/Commonwealth troops WITHOUT even firing a shot!! And as for Dunkirk... the Brits fled with their tails between their skinny legs home to Mammy... safe across the Channel from the Nazis tanks (lucky for them tanks can't cross water or otherwise the Germans would have been having a nice cup of tea with Lizzy the following day!!
The only war the Brits ever 'won' was with the help of the US..
Big-Blue,
Winter invasion???
The Meteorological Spring begins everywhere in Europe ( including Russia! ) on 01 March...... So if Putin wants to attack, now is the moment..... however I am of the opinion that it is all bluster and scare tactics.
Russia may be a military power but it is an economic dwarf/midget whose combined GDP is less than that of Denmark, The Netherlands and Belgium combined.
The EU can source its oil/gas from North Africa.. France already does..... much of it from Algeria.
The US had a GDP of approx 30 trillion dollars in 2020 compared to that of 1.483 trillion for Russia.
Russia is not now and NEVER has beem a big economic player.
The French economy had a 2.7 trillion GDP for 2020 and the German economy trillion. Ireland alone (population of 5 million) 419 billion dollars (just 3.5 times smaller than that of Russia)....
The Russian economy is a pipsqueak in terms of its population of 145 million inhabitants and a last surface area of over 17 million square kilometers....nearly 71 times the size of the UK in surface area.
More than 40% of its output is spent on its military strength while most of its people, apart from the Oligarchs, have barely enough to live on....average salary of less than 200 dollars per month!
So Russia is punching way above its weight.
As for a recovery in the airline industry, I think it will explode upwards in 2022. I really believe that the pandemic is peetering out.........I expect to double my initial buy in price by the end of the year...I expect all airlines apart from Lufthansa maybe to express strong growth including American airlines, Air France/KLM etc..... If oil prices drop, the SP increase shall be even more impressive.
One hundred per cent.
I had Omicron and was very sick for approx. 6 days with a throat like a furnace.
I just couldn't get a PCR test slot on-line so I just self-isolated also as I had two postive antigen tests....
However very few people are being hospitalised with this variant which is good news all round.
I think the SP will start to go north shortly unless some other variant comes along but the science doesn't seem to believe so... many people believe this is the last stand for the Coronavirus pandemic..... Highly contagious at the end but way less virulent... basically burning itself out.
Big blue,
You are talking rubbish here... The vast majority of Irelands's major wealth is created by multinationals and the pharma industry. Massive, massive in terms of our GDP.
The meat industry, although important, is minor in terms of overall Revenue.
More and more of our food is going directly to the continent anyway.. to our EU neighbours.
Our nearest and biggest EU neighbour is France and our exports to France, Belgium and Germany have nearly doubled since Brexit.
Poor old UK.. a country in demise... in a tailspin whose economy has been compromised hugely thanks to Brexit and Boozey Boris!
I think the next two or three weeks will be really telling. The Omicron variant is spreading like wildfire across all of Europe (and yes the UK is in Europe!) but ICU levels are not too high yet thank goodness. This strain is by far the most contagious but not the most deadly apparently.
I see IAG coming close to 100 p or slightly under.. it could be a great buy at that price or it could just go bust or the shares diluted to such a degree that they would be more or less worthless anyway.
I would prefer to day trade this share.. waiting for a snippet of good news to send it a few percent and then selling out again.
That is what I have been doing with Air France/KLM although their SP is holding up better than IAG's.
Johnson the bofoon needs to go. He is ineffective and incompetent and so is his entourage. He is a laughing stock.
