entelon-your point'Throughout, Johnson will be able to lay some responsibility upon the public to take the new, heavily HMG sponsored LFTs seriously.' is v much my opinion too as that might be crucial for validating AffiDX for oversea sales. It will be difficult with pandemic deniers being quite thick on the ground however school/university outbreaks would ram home his message.
I hope this new Indian variant, if reports are correct that it heads straight for the lungs, will neverteless be detectable with affimers as the virus has to be breathed out to spread. An instruction on the box should include-breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose three times while the swab is in AN position, then withdraw, aswell as the twizzling bit.
There are three limbs to fighting Covid: 1) Lockdown/quarantine 2) Vaccine 3) High quality rapid testing.
Johnson is, by nature, a libertarian. He has already declared a further lockdown to be a disaster. He does not want to confuse and complicate the messaging. Hence, for the time being, he will not grandstand the sovereign testing campaign, until a) The sovereign LFTs have received all appropriate regulatory certification b) Manufacturing capacity is capable of supporting the testing roll-out.
IMO, with the vaccine delivery largely a success, and lockdown set to be cautiously, but permanently, unravelled, the message emphasis will swing towards LFTs. There will be a focus on both regularised testing for access to communal events and the requirement for special localised testing for inevitable local spikes. Throughout, Johnson will be able to lay some responsibility upon the public to take the new, heavily HMG sponsored LFTs seriously.
IMO, the use of poor quality of the Innova LFTs would only leave HMG exposed if the sovereign tests were to prove inadequate. Thus, it is in HMG's interests to await the best possible home-grown tests. Political triumphalism may have to wait a little, but I feel sure there will be some grandstanding of our tests, together with strong encouragement, if not insistence, from HMG that our LFTs form a crucial part of the exit-plan.
AVCT has all to play for, IMO. Find me a brighter, yet also very, very commercially savvy, CEO than AS. A rare combination of talents. GLA.
Just realised it’s the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow with Prince Charles substituting for the Queen. Perhaps this is the moment to set out the grander vision for the UK’s self sufficient diagnostic and pandemic preparedness plan.
Nothing of substance, but he did say universities would resume in person teaching and students would be tested twice a week - which implied to me regular testing will be a key part of the wider reopening going forwards...
The PMs confidence on lifting restrictions speaks to me that they have a test that detects infectious individuals accurately. They can’t rely on vaccination alone. They are modelling the test and trace on the successful South Korean model which indicates that at a level of 10 in 100,000 for test and trace is effective. We are very nearly at that level of transmission.
Mr ST, I agree that we should sell where revenue is highest, but a Boris testimonial wouldn’t go amiss. I am still working on the theory that AVCT is involved in two separate tests. Sovereign (supplying diagnostic element only ) and for private sales (supplying whole kit and caboodle.)
hugging - haggling
bloody autocorrect
frankle = frankly
Well, given the previous degree of hysteria about this virus, I thought that indoor hospitality, mass sports and music events and cinema/theatre - not to mention hugging and hand-shaking- would have been accompanied by a statement about success of recent test events (Liverpool night club etc) and a gold standard LFT being in the offing.
I don't understand the focus on the UK deal? i frankle would rather we get an EU deal to provide our tests to a much bigger market!
I am sure they will not be haggling the price and will pay the price to open up their borders with an effective test.
Yes - he avoided the question as to whose hand he would be shaking first. Pretty obvious it will be Keith Starmer.
Really! After all this time, and the " bojo will announce us tonight!" Stuff not going to happen, they are only talking about capacity at the end of the month.
I'm sure eventually they will announce the sovereign test but if it's us that won't be until it's CE marked and the MHRA have stamp thier approval with an at he emergency use.
Either it’s still about maximising vaccine take up or else they are going to surreptitiously replace Innova with Sovereign test and try to muddy the waters about how much diagnostic capacity was purchased from China. And with a brain-dead media, they can get away with the latter.
