Trip hop, interesting info, tack (thanks)
Only a couple of hours ago, I had a meeting with the owner/manager of a care home that abuts the construction site that we are in the process of kicking off. Had a good chat with him about how the whole pandemic has affected them? He told me that they had to date 4 cases, 1 of which had died and also that they currently had one possible case at the moment which was waiting to be confirmed. At present they are testing all the staff once a week and they have to wait 24/48 hours for the results. However, this all changes if they have any live cases within the home when they procedures get a lot more stricter. He was very knowledgeable about reagents and the problems with creating and supplying them but wasn't aware of what was going on with Avacta. Told him about what's in the pipeline and estimated timescales (Which he was very interested in), to which he replied, 'If they can do that, it'll be a game changer!' Speaks for itself coming from someone like that!
Large cakes testing, sounds delicious :-)
Doesn’t sound hugely different to the UK, sad stories everywhere and the same disregard for the advice. This could ultimately cause issues, at the moment the mature approach has helped save Sweden’s economy. If people aren’t sensible then it can only go one way. As has been reported, we really are on a knife edge and need to stop the covidiots unnecessarily spreading the disease.
Thanks PL for graph
The numbers of deaths were impacted by care home numbers, and are horrifying.
Workers going from home to home (fill in for sick staff, holidays etc), then going home to children still in school. Infections took hold, people sent back from hospital, lack off PPE.
Authorities have held hand up and said it was a ****up. but that is small consolation to those that lost relatives early.
On the maturity thing most people are being sensible but the is a definite decline in awareness. At the start no friends round, one in a lift at a time etc. now people seem to be ignoring the danger, grown numb to it. But pubs outside Stockholm have large spacing between tables but in the city lunch is the same as always.
A poc test is going to help. The antibody one I think will give better insight into actual infection rates, although large cakes testing has been done to find hidden rates of infection, I don’t know the figures.
Didn’t realise that’s where you were TL. Sweden is one of the countries that’s not going on the UK travel corridor list due to a higher level of infection. If you look at the new case count, Sweden has overtaken the uk and is on the rise currently. I think the response in Sweden was more mature, but we won’t know the excess death figures for some time. That will take in to account the balance of Covid versus deaths from the economic fallout, which is the true impact.
Here’s my reference for case counts, you need to select countries in the bottom left: https://ourworldindata.org/epi-curve-covid-19
Some of us still can, just asked to use common sense. Our Sweden) numbers don’t look good but better than UK I think.
You can goto the pub, get a haircut, shop etc no masks in most places. A lot of people work from home, fiber network great, digital payment leader etc economy needs exports thou :-(
Stockholm you can now book a test(Infected/was infected). Antibody test 5 days queue.
There is an announcement coming this week. I think it’s expanding where tests are offered.
Optician... the savy customer would have enjoyed the fine wines and 5 courses and then escorted the two waitresses home.
Do you remember when you could go to a really nice restaurant and order a fantastic meal?
You ordered the lobster and foie gras warm salad starter, followed by Turbot & Morels. You are sipping a nice Grand Cru Chablis while you await the delight of your meal maybe even thinking ahead to the white chocolate ganache you spotted a few tables left as you took your seat. Then suddenly out of the blue - just because the table next to you just got it's starters and you think you've been waiting too long you rush to the waiter cancel your order and ask for a doggy bag of warm breads.
As you walk out of the door cursing and grouching like some demented hobo (having paid out for a load of food you didn't get) the two waitresses just going off shift collect two lovely sets of Lobster and foie gras plus a sizeable helping of Turbot and Morels to take home..............................
Bonkers isn't it ???
