Tesla also charge £0.24 per KW/h currently for supercharging!! So if my assumptions are right to to supercharge @ 120 kw/h = £28.80 per hour. Normally to supercharge would be for 1/2hr so approx £15 to charge!!
Bare basics for new homes. Overnight charging? You can generally upgrade fittings at the time of purchase or later.
7.4Kw max for most uk homes it says, which is 30A, i.e the same as your cooker cable rating.

For those interested in charging outputs required and Miles/Hr at that charge rate within the attached there is a good matrix based on Tesla Models. Approximately at a charge rate of 16.5kw for 6hrs would charge a car to 80% (which they recommend only doing normally unless going on a long journey!)
Tesla fast charges at a rate I believe of 120kw!!!!
I rang and asked if they would trade my afc shares for it but unfortunately they said no and offered me a reliant robin instead which to be fair was quite a fare offer i thought
Mucksy ... too common!! :-))
Hi Bumble, no I haven't been talking to David Ryan about this, just applying a little bit of logic, and perhaps hope!
Eddietheo why dont you treat yourself to a Porsche 918Spyder S-A 2014 (64) only 999.990 thousand pound https://www.stratstone.com/search/vehicledetails/used-car-porsche-918--other-hybrid%20electric-white-other-a918xxx/
Not necessarily Daz. If you have a source of heat, like a PHE DMG, the heat from that tech could be used to reform methane. Biomethane if you want carbon friendly hydrogen.
I'd missed that Piltick, so the current plan is to use expensive steam methane reforming which will impact sales, once we have the charger ready we wil then have to wait another few years for the new hydrogen technologies to emerge before our charger becomes economically viable.
Have you been talking to David Ryan about this Piltick :-) ?
Re Autoexpress article:
Interesting statement:
"AFC plans to source its hydrogen from steam methane reforming and electrolysis, but will “capitalise on new technologies” related to production of the gas, as they emerge. "
I believe that steam methane reforming is an expensive method for producing hydrogen. Perhaps one of the "new technologies" they refer to could be PHE's DMG system?
All I know at this current stage is with the current Battery technology the Rapid charge systems which will give say a 75% charge in 30-45 minutes are not recommended for continual use!!! Such a charge is only recommended to get out of trouble mid journey etc etc.... standard charges which take 5-6 hours are generally best for battery condition!!
No car has been purchased yet as there are some great tax breaks available which I’m still exploring which will bring the price of ownership down considerably!!! Otherwise I was left extremely impressed!!!
I think the answer lies in the interplay with the battery, a 10kW unit would take roughly 5hrs based on a standard DC fast charger being about 50kW. It’s a case of how many 10kW units are running, how it feeds into the battery, how much the battery can store and discharge and what the latency is between demands. I imagine this is going to be kept somewhat quiet until product launch, Rolec will have seen the tech and will have more answers than us PI’s. It’s tedious, stressful and still somewhat of a waiting game, hopefully some answers coming but I wouldn’t expect full disclosure until product launch. Rolec are the larger party at this point, AFC’s actions and disclosures will be governed by agreements with Rolec.
Hi Eddietheo......Thanks for your honest answer....some of the posters will know....but my guess is they will remain silent....I am sure you will enjoy your Tesla..
No idea Klunk!! It is ANOTHER mystery from AFC as to the performance of the EV charging product!!!.... might even take a day to charge an iPhone for all we know!!
The BMW that was plugged into AFC’s EV charge point at Dunsfold at thevAGM was rather dirty. It looked like it had been ‘Off Road’ that morning. The guy presenting the EV charging point on behalf of AFC should’ve been given a bucket lol! Not good PR.
Can’t see your Tesla looking shabby Eddie!
Eddietheo .... Nice idea ....using the BMW i8 that was used in the AFC charger demo as the benchmark....how long do you think it will take to charge a Tesla ? .....lets assume a Model S P100D.
It would be a steal at its current price!
I test drove a Tesla today... if I buy one I wonder if I call AFC they will let me charge it on their FC EV charge point!!! Good PR for them “ I liked the product so much I invested in the company”!!! For those of you old enough it reminded me a bit of the old advert of Victor Kiam who liked the Remington shaver so much he bought the company!!!
