Staggers80....... I would say that the MSP battery pack will be providing the power for the cracker .....
Haggis, thanks for this.
How do we crack ammonia if there is no solar power in the first instance?
mucksy,
I also think that Extreme E will take an HFC system. AFC have posted a picture of the stack and announced prototypes were built 'on time' last year, with commercial systems 'available for deployment in Q1 2022". They could possibly have built a prototype one as an off-grid generator and have it on the St Helena before it sails. If not, they could have one shipped to the second race.
Extreme E use Hydrogen from Solar for now, so they do not need Ammonia or Methanol yet, thus a Hydrogen HFC makes sense right now.
In the future they could switch to Green Methanol or Green Ammonia. This along with HFC or S Series would have worthwhile benefits:
Ditch the solar (space saving, transportation saving, CO2 of transport reduction)
Replace the big tank of water for Electrolysis with a tank of Ammonia or Methanol (nil impact)
Power can be generated instantly, so no need to be on site weeks ahead to get the Solar panels out (saves a lot of time and thus money)
Fuel Cell system will be smaller than the L Series (space saving, transportation saving, CO2 of transport reduction)
Sturmtrupper, all valid points and I do see why investors are wary of AB.
The Nasdaq correction was too good an opportunity to miss and I’m not convinced it’s over yet, so I’ll buy more when I can.
I don’t blame Bond for lack of sales oddly enough. They’ve developed further iterations of their product, which should find favour in what is still a market in its infancy. If ExE can find out about AFC then I’m sure others can too. It’s all about orders and I’d like to see them from other sources, not just ABB. I’m confident we can produce a system to their requirements and probably ahead of schedule. The issue is that we’re a one trick pony at the moment. If ABB say ‘no’ it’s going to hurt our SP significantly. Rambling now, so I’ll stop. Just my general thoughts.
I have no desire to share a doorway with AB. No doubt his would be Waitrose whilst I’d be languishing at the entrance to Poundland.
Scarpa50, forget to say that the Ossie with the salary is on, is very unlikely he will be sleeping rough in three years time.....
Scarpa50 thanks for your view which i follow with some other posters with knowledge on here...
Thing is we know the Ossie has some many fingers in so many pies.... what we don't know is what.. when... why and with who really.... For instance can we supply anyone with anything? One cannot build a house from the roof down, the fact that no one from the outside has no idea what is going on at AFC is an utter disgrace from whatever point of you you look at it made worse by the fact that many things the Ossie said he achieved in the past have ended up in a big black hole in space...
I'm wondering if afc could trial this with extreme
AFC Energy today announces a new Hybrid Fuel Cell ("HFC") technology platform developed and confirmed within the "S" Series range, set for initial deployment in early 2022
Sturmtrupper, I understand your frustration as there are several things about AFC which frustrate me too, but the race series isn’t ours and it’s down to the organisers to announce what they want, when they want. The relative silence regarding ExE doesn’t concern me. Similarly the delays with Acciona and Juellich (can never spell that correctly) which are ‘on the ground’ issues. Quite likely Covid, system changes, supply chain issues; but they are confirmed as going ahead. Whilst I don’t dismiss the lack of communication at times, I don’t dismiss the positives either.
Urbanair-port which is initially a demonstration event could fail; but there are several companies trying to make a go of it, so they clearly think it has legs. Each country is likely to hold such an event which results in a number of lease contracts for us.
Zerocoaster could also be huge for us and I don’t think orders will be too far away.
I’m not going to list everything as it has been done to death, and I’m sure we won’t win every contract we bid for, but we have a foot in the door for most of our key markets.
The problem with R&D is time. It always takes longer than anticipated but we’ll get there eventually, so I remain confident. Over the last three weeks I’ve trimmed my holdings in other companies and increased in the remaining three: Eqtec, Seeing machines and AFC. All have good management but there are critics of each company; it’s not just an AFC phenomenon. If you fancy a laugh at my expense, just monitor these and buy me a coffee if I’m sleeping rough in three years time.
Scarpa50... your last sentence... It’s getting a bit late in the day to announce a new hydrogen partner.... I think that sums up what AFC BOD have achieved so far looking in from the outside...
Hopefully re ExE it’ll be ‘business as usual’ with an RNS this week. It’s getting a bit late in the day to announce a new hydrogen partner, especially with comments made by the organisers about expanding the services provided by AFC in the future. Might even get a little ‘Bruce bonus’ re Neom.
Communications director still to be replaced. For the time being at least, I’m happy that we save money on this relatively unproductive role. Doesn’t exactly take up too much time to pen an update as and when necessary, although it may as well have the factory cat over the last 6 months.
Good morning all, don't want to moan much or agree totally with Desertwolch...... but like when we had not idea if the wizard of oz was going to America with ABB or not and he had to clarify it with a tweet, now we have no idea if we are supplying Extreme E for seson 2....it's hard to call it communication what little is coming from AFC....i read here many things about market cap and valuation but the unfortunate point here is that no one knows were, what, how this company is operating and for us long suffering PI(myself 13 years) is always a guessing game but unfortunatly for the financial markets at the moment AFC with its BOD is just a big hot air ballon that can't even get off the ground, really s*****for an r&d company to say so little when always promising so much...
We haven’t had any conformation about Extreme E nor NEOM from AFC to date so, remember this is speculation at it’s best.
The photos from MSP were taken last April I believe yet no news.
Haggis needs a lie down.
The Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia finishes this weekend. With ExtremeE to follow, the only ‘hindrance’ could be the current huge daily increasing trend in COVID-19 in Saudi. ExtremeE will I’m sure, be keeping a close eye on this with authorities. They may well look at going to Sardinia first as a contingency?
No countdown on ExtremeE’s website to the Saudi round as time to sail from Poole is getting tight!
Do ExE own the fuel cell? I think so but not sure. But do they know how to run it? Service it? It’s not fully autonomous unlike ABB’s intentions, so unless they have something else to pull out the bag it’s a no brainer surely we’re going the distance with ExE into 2022. News would be welcome I agree, I’m wondering if it will also be bundled with greater ambitions when released… I live in hope
AFC is still listed as a partner on the EE website. If they had a new supplier I'm sure they would have insisted on AFC's removal so I think AFC will be there this season.
PR kicked of on 22 December:
https://www.extreme-e.com/en/news/459_Season-2-calendar-unveiled
There have been 4 news releases following that one, two of which are about team members for the upcoming series:
https://www.extreme-e.com/en/news
They now have 36 days to go, so I'd expect PR to continue and possibly escalate as of next week.
As we all know Extreme E season 2 is about to kick off within weeks .....but are all things Extreme E going to plan ?.....their PR work for the second series seems very subdued .....are all last years sponsors still onboard ?....AFC have yet to confirm season 2 support .....and Jenson Button has made comments about keeping sponsors actively involved ....and being able to keep his drivers for this 2nd series ....i am well aware that some here do not see Extreme E as a positive for AFC .....but i would like some confirmation as series 2 approaches .

Will AFC have something to reveal at this event, or some deal(s) to sign? Providing off-grid power to Air Products Helios construction project would certainly be nice.
Anyone looking for a job? They have several other vacancies on this project. Nice to see it moving ahead quickly. Check the spec, even to Air Products this is a MONSTER!
