PAUL1DEANO "What will you do if he (Trump?) serves another term?"
I shall seek the intervention of Thor, with his hammer, while said individual is exposed on one of his golf courses.
What will you do if he serves another term?
Just as we thought....Good news from Kerim's RNS about Salinbas gets eclipsed by the Turkish incursion into Syria and our AAU share price stays below 2p.
VanVan - Purely my own thoughts but I believe that ADVFN has far more "right of center" political opinion (especially in their banking posts LLOY,BARC etc) across their boards than we have on LSE and especially here on AAU. I also feel that ADVFN is somewhat "cliquey" and has a kinda "insider" set. I value your posts, VanVan , together with those of say Swallows, Temu & Biggles but for the most part I avoid posting there and I miss the former version of iii.com.
I most certainly challenge your quote that "Trump is liked by an increasing majority and is carrying out the policies he said he would and those are popular". There was certainly a lot of folk in the UK recently who did not want to give him a State Reception and your Parliament was petitioned accordingly. Those "Baby Blimps" which have been readily adopted our side of the pond started out over your way. Currently so-called "whistleblowers" from the White House/Trump Organization are coming forth almost daily while Republican Representatives and Senators are staring to abandon his side.
His popularity is not proven by media coverage of noisy rallies where profane utterances by our potty-mouth POTUS winds up his supporter base. The real scenario is seen in the unfilled spaces at his appearances in major cities away from our South. Our Founding Fathers went to great lengths to seperate the various branches of government. Trump has now effectively gained personal control of our Judiciary and also our highest decision-making body, the Senate ( whereby its Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, been most generously funded by specific donations including some ,it is alleged, from foreign sources).
He has a venomous total hatred of Obama and has attempted to undo every Act the former President implemented. Many of these had climatic and environmental implications which would create serious loss of monies to global corporates and various entities. Slowly but surely the populace are beginning to become aware of the danger to their Republic and their Constitution and "Benito" Trump's support decreases accordingly (yes, he has the bullying stance, facial expressions and gestures of that fascist) amid more and more calls for his impeachment.
Just an observation, and before I get accused I am NOT supporting Turkish aggression but.... the first thing the West, including the EU and UK (see how I separated them there?) do is to clamp down on arm licences to Turkey. So when there are contracts for tens or hundreds of $/£/Lira on offer we cant wait to flog Turkey deadly hardware. Then the West acts all surprised and horrified when its used. I can see Turkey sourcing arms from the Russians, who would probably not regard the stuff as being merely on expensive loan.
Thanks for that desert joe. This is from Catstick on ADVFN
To me it looks like the situation in Syria is now much better than it has been in a long time, Assad and Russia keeping the peace and Turkey not worried about a Kurdish state is a win win for both sides, it also sounds like Trump is quite happy with what has happened and apart from a few neocons spitting feathers its all going to settle down.
Re: the US I have no idea what I'm talking about, and no idea why I am making a comment, but this noise of impeachment is just that in my opinion. It will never happen. Trump is liked by an increasing majority and is carrying out the policies he said he would and those are popular. I suspect the same is true of Turkey. And the endorsement by VW as I reported on yesterday is a massive vote of confidence. The media don't report it of course; they just delight in fake news and negativity. Did you see that false video from ABC news using a Kentucky gun event and making out it was from Syria. They even doctored it to remove the audience at the event. Disgraceful, but that is what the media has come too. Best ignore it.
On Trump's order approx 1000 US troops were re-deployed back "home" from Northern Syria but it appears the media focussed on 50 who were closest to the Turkish border. Last night, according to Secretary of State Pompeo, Trump instigated sanctions on Turkey but by this morning Turkey’s lira rose on the back of a statement by Trump promising a 50% tariff on Turkish steel imports and a halt to trade negotiations between Ankara and Washington — penalties that analysts are calling “window dressing.”
The focus here is impeaching the guy but it's a long way from getting it "rubber stamped" in our House of Representatives to actually proving any wrongdoings and persuading the Senate to remove him from office (especially with "Moscow Mitch" McConnell as Majority Leader ).
Am I right in thinking it was only 50 US soldiers that Trump brought home. Surely that can’t be right. What impact could they have?
Found this on twitter - You won't have seen this in the news but the car makers are abandoning the #EU in droves.
Volkswagen has just rejected the EU to open its new £1 billion factory in Turkey with 5000 new jobs and 10,000s in the supply chain.
And it blamed EU rules.
