Think ochziff are suffering some big losses here AQR reducing too. Also in the news today new satellite launch pad to be built in Scotland and sites shortlisted for horizontal take off development. Watching this with interest wishing I hadn’t sold!
YAWN!
I rest my case .
Totally agree Phoenix. Suspect this will now rocket 5+% upon opening Monday morning.
Got into the virgin Money takeover. And got into fevertree very low. These tactics are used all the time to fill big orders and look at the end buys that were all quite big . There are dreamers who make reality . Now walk on mr nobody
The MMs have possibly robbed a lot of pi’s taking out their stop losses and set sell settings . Now we know why the price was shooting up
To launch another bid ? Something is almost certainly cooking
Possibly. Why are these big buys coming in . Is someone trying to launch a Dawn raid or something. Hmmmm
HL showing a buy of 2,750,000 shares @ 5.62 over £15,000,000
Posted at 3.30 hmmm. Interesting
Possibly it is creeping back up now
Could be a tree shake possibly.
And down she goes , not sure of the reason of recent movements , any ideas ?
To go up to keep people happy
Will and can be delayed for 3 days if they could affect the prices. Something is brewing behind the closed doors possibly.
I have my price.
I bought in for the long term but the competitive landscape has changed since then. While I think that the various LEO projects will face hurdles and delays; and their plans are optimistic; there are enough of them and backed by serious enough players (the Chinese government for example) to be a real threat medium to long term. That said, demand for bandwidth will likely be exponentially more than predicted so maybe all boats will happily stay afloat. Will have to see how things look when my price is reached.
I had no objection to what EU was, I am not happy with what it has become. And its hard to know what will happen post Brexit, we will never know whether it was good or bad - both scenarios cannot be played out.
Best not to start on politics!
Getting back to ISAT, my preference is that it remains as it is and flourishes to became a great company the UK can be proud of. Its very easy to hope for a takeover and a quick buck, and I have no problem with people wanting that as the are after all investing for profit. But I would prefer to play the long game and see ISAT surpass the £11 high and make my money that way. Whatever happens, my few thousand shares wont sway the vote if a takeover occurs!
I have no idea why we've had a good week. Throughout the recent weakness I've thought the company stronger than the valuation and so maybe it's just recovering a bit. They keep announcing new contracts after all.
Then again Echostar bought a load of stock and haven't sold it. It looks to me as though the company is uniquely attractive to them though for spectrum reasons. I'm not sure anyone else will come in.
I'm afraid my opinion of Brexit is that it will be devastating for the British economy. The effects will be chaotic. One of the reasons to be invested in Inmarsat is that very little of it's income is generated domestically. It acts as a hedge against weak sterling and has something genuinely valuable to the rest of the world. Such companies will be very difficult to defend and may well be snapped up by foreigners (RIP ARM). There's an irony there somewhere. Anyway, we'll see what happens. We're all just along for the ride on that one now.
Thanks Basscadet for the link.
I am still of the opinion that the unexpected SP strength this week is not because of an impending bid, but because of recent events leading to better awareness of the company through articles such as this. I may of course be wrong, more often than not I am!
Be a shame if we were to lose this as a UK company. Post Brexit we are going to need quality companies like this one.
Copying from argylerich on advfn. Thanks argylerich.
Apologies if already posted. However, the point that caught my eye was that Echostar are only locked out for 6 months if nothing material changes. If another bid comes in they can make a counter offer. So, Echostar are still very much in play.

Great move in price.
I smell another offer coming today. I expect 7.50 pounds.
Bye bye Mr Gambler ..
And the shorters come out to play . This is rising because none of what the analysts have said is true according to supposedly long term holders etc . They are all probably on the anti trump march . The only thing is , they paid 32,000 pounds for a blow up toy that could be made for just 2000 pounds . So who’s laughing now .
End of message.
A bad day for the market by ISAT still buoyant - must be something going on.
As an aside from speculation, found interesting article from Inmarsat's own website :
Global Xpress delivers seamless connectivity for RAF 100 Flypast
11 July 2018: Inmarsat was honoured to assist the Royal Air Force (RAF) Signals Support Unit (90su) with high-speed Global Xpress connectivity for the historic RAF 100 Parade at Buckingham Palace and Flypast over London to mark its centenary anniversary.
Following the event, Squadron Leader Gordon Henderson said: “Thanks to Inmarsat for the great support at the RAF 100 year anniversary today – an outstanding level of service from the lightweight and easily operated Swarm terminal.
“By providing the Air Command Media team with access to its Global Xpress connectivity, they were able to continue uploading videos from the parade even as the 4G network in London begun to struggle.“
