As I have said previously. McDonald trump has gone on about making parm companies drop the prices for drugs but in reality this will only effect a very small amount in the USA health services.

These shares a now an exceptional buy. I had bought 30 p higher , but feel very content as I get a div of 80p for the year if I stick. And Glaxo have a very healthy pipeline. Plus a defensive play if the market drops dramatically, which it will do at some stage . HopefUlly next May, or October.

It's a total guess from my point of view, but the drop could be due to people moving money out of defensive stocks. When a trade war was looking more likely this may have been seen as something of a safe haven.

But since the Mexico deal the market maybe a little more optimistic a full blown trade war can be avoided and so are moving their money into other stocks.

Of course they could all come rushing back if China and USA can't resolve their current spat.

Sorry for the off topic and delay in reply, yes got disillusioned with Debs when they stopped reducing the debt. In hindsight should have sold off too and put the dosh in here maybe. Might have a re-look soon.

Yes its wait n see now we have a lady driver and Im sure the old questions will re-surface. Should she buy something or break up like Woody wanted.

Slow and steady suits me fine but it might be a while before we see a rising divi, my favored measure of success here.

Bought back in, just over 1000 shares. Also looking at buying an equal amount of Novartis ADR shares too. Look a safe option..

hi. thought you were dead after you absent from DEB-glad not .
good to see the sp has got back over 1600 but still down on when weird speaker was appointed april 2017 but the main or only reason I can see is due to not buying that thing at an inflated price luckily because there was no bidding war she could join.

Good news for Anoro
23 Aug '18
Reuters : A new AstraZeneca inhaler for chronic lung disease has proved worse than a rival GlaxoSmithKline product in a clinical trial, a result AstraZeneca said was inconsistent with earlier findings.

Bevespi Aerosphere - a combination of two kinds of drugs known as LAMA and LABA - was as good as GSK's Anoro in improving peak breathing levels when patients exhaled but it failed to match Anoro on trough measures, AstraZeneca said on Thursday.

The Fool will be saying sell tomorrow most likely, so they are always right no matter what happens.

I'll be collecting divis until I can sit on santa's knee and tell him what I want for xmas ..... a rise in the divi would be nice!

Probably signals end of rally which I thought was en route to £17 ...
Interesting that EPS growth could be up by 17%
For those who cannot be bothered to link to fool, read on :
Defensive income
GlaxoSmithKline (LSE: GSK) is another name on my list of top FTSE 100 income stocks.
Last year, shares in Glaxo plunged when speculation began to emerge that the company was planning a cut to its dividend payout of 80p per share. Even though management has since stated that it is committed to the distribution, investors have been slow to return.
Over the past few months, sentiment has begun to recover. The stock is up around 28% since the beginning of February. New product launches and better than expected sales growth have helped the company regain investor trust. City analysts now believe the group can achieve EPS growth of 17% for the full year. Based on these figures, the shares are trading at a forward P/E of 14.3, an undemanding multiple in my opinion considering Glaxo’s growth potential and defensive nature.
Shares in the company also support a dividend yield of 5.1%.

Good recovery after ex dividend, just a week to get back to its pre leval and a nice dividend to come pity it's nearly a two month wait, but nevertheless something to look forward too.
